This book really makes me feel like Odyssey was meant to have a heavy tie to Galaxy at one point. With Rosalina concepts and multiple scrapped Luma ideas, I feel like it was just an idea they wanted to incorporate but didn't have time for.

I would like to see an Odyssey 2, but considering how the main development team were...at odds with each other when they were developing Super Mario Galaxy 2, that may be unlikely.

I kinda wished rosalina would make it into the game and probably talk some stuff about the different powers between the power stars and the moons and then give you a moon for listening to her lesson

There's some 8bit rosalinas hidden in some kingdoms so it would've made sense if she was in the game.
I also have a idea maybe she would play jump up superstar and earned coins if you steal the coins from the cholecase then she will call the police npc if you talk to her that you don’t have coins then she will give you some

@@somerobloxdude3699 the "every copy of ___ is personalized" is a meme that came from a very absurd creepypasta about super mario 64 that got popular around the time (and maybe because of?) the nintendo 64 leak earlier this year so that's why a lot of people are saying it
It honestly breaks my heart that so many cool ideas, designs and outfits never made it to the final game, it could’ve made this amazing game somehow even better
Im assuming they will use these ideas on Odyssey 2? Galaxy also had a lot of unused stuff that was thrown into the sequel.

I like the implication that posessing Peach's body somehow makes Bowser more powerful.
It would imply that he wants her for something more than just having a crush on her, like some great power hidden deep within her soul that could potentially give him the power to take over the world.
Oh wait, they already explained that. Their marriage leads to the creation of the Chaos Heart which is a sign of the end of the world.

Well to be fair, he's Bowser in the West, and originally Koopa in Japan (King Koopa as it was localized for the cartoons.) So I understand why it's Koopeach instead of Bowsette.

Honestly, I like the idea of Bowser capturing Peach for the final battle. It reminds me of the Shadow Queen fight from TTYD, my favorite RPG of all time.
Going shopping with Peach would be adorable!
Nah man they should have kept that concept with Mario reacting differently to the npcs, it’s such a neat concept and the thought of Mario getting bashful towards a beautiful girl is just funny to me.

Indeed- it has me wondering exactly how long they had the idea though. Since the concept of it is great- the antagonist taking over the princess and it ending in a boss fight
But since they scrapped it, i dont think itll actually happen unless its the right game and time.

Sometimes called the Chinese hopping zombie, The Jiangshi actually makes an appearance in super Mario land! Although the enemy is called Pionpi, the inspiration is clear. You can see him in the Chai kingdom, and even in the game's art.
The fact that someone referenced this monster twice in Mario is fascinating. And I wish they would've kept the costume, because I think it just looks really cool

Hearing about all of these scrapped ideas makes me realize how even though 3D Mario has done a lot, there's still a lot of things they COULD do

In the Dark Side, behind the top of the rock near the electrical thing that leads to where you re-fight the Broodals and the Mechabroodal is an 8-bit Rosalina, so there is *some* trace of her in Mario Odyssey.

In the future I hope that Nintendo reuses these ideas for a new game some day. It would so cool go through these big sandbox lands and do all these new tasks. My favourite has to be all new donk city stuff and the costumes.
