    My car seems to have a clear coat on the brushed aluminum window trim. I went back and forth deciding between an etching primer and a 2K primer and finally opted for a 2K primer because I felt that I would sand it without going completely down to metal. I plan to spray next weekend, weather permitting.

    @Garage Noise what camera and microphone set up are you using? Camera is good but your Mic and you voice are great. Your voice is ideal for voice over work.

      I use the go pro 7 black and the rode wireless go for voice over..

    Wow great video looking to do that to my audi b8 avant roof rail and door trim!! ☺️Is it a good idea to clear coat or just the paint and the adhesion promoter is enough?

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want a satin finish you don't want clear coat. Use a 2k paint that will hold up the the sun.

      @@GarageNoise thanks I keep that in mind I might go the spray max trim paint route thanks again ☺️

    This may sounds like a dumb question but i'm trying to learn this myself. How much time in between paint coats and why didn't you use clear over it ?

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      10 to 15 minute, no clear because it's a single stage matte finish. Clearcoat would give it a high gloss and I didn't want that. Appreciate the comment and support!

    Hey Chris. Some adhesion promoters have a recoat window, such that if you don't apply the top coat soon enough it won't stick. Is there a recoat window on the one you used? If so what's a typical recoat time. I've seen some that only give you 10 minutes, which isn't much time at all.

    • @GarageNoise

      I just give it 2-3 minutes. I want it still to be drying when I spray the paint. As far as I know you don't want to let it completely dry. Always check to see what the product recommends tho.

    Have you done this procedure in the past? I learned sand with 80 epoxy primer surface primer paint. Adhesion promoter is for raw plastic bumpers only.

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These mouldings are plastic coated from the factory. Not all are and if your painting true chrome, like bumpers, yes 80 ,primer,sand and paint would be the right way to go. Thank's for the comment and the support.

    what does “flash off” mean? does that indicate like a certain amount of time drying or…?

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's a term meaning it drys to a low gloss not fully dry tho

    The adhesion promoter is the same used to paint raw plastic (bumpers etc)??

    • @GarageNoise
      @GarageNoise  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@giorgosnak9927 yes, on small trim like this it works great this trim also has a plastic coating from factory. If you were to do a lage part like a chrome bumper you would want to primer it.

      @@GarageNoise thank you very much!I intent to paint some plastic chrome trim and the way I was doing it was placing the pieces in a bleach bath until chrome and the underneath copper layer washed off, and then paint with the usual procedure...but this method needs a looot of time until chrome is striped!and temperature plays a role...the higher the better

    What about when you open the doors, or the roof, those plastic ends that butt together will still be chrome. Better off removing the trim, and taking it off the car and doing the job 100% right,
