I don't generally like blacking out vehicles, but you did it right. Especially by leaving some transparency in the tail lights.

lol thanks man... Ford charges 10k for a blackout upgrade.. I have a couple hundred and some labor time invested

Couple things. Good video first. You may know this trick for emblems, heavy fishing line. Removes the risk of a pry marks in the body, especially on the aluminum body’s. I’ve always done my prep(30 year body guy) wet, wether its sand paper or scotch brite pads with palmolive dish soap in the water. Works like a charm, never have fish eye issue’s. From your comments at the end, where are you having rubbing issue’s? Have a 22 450 platinum I just got and am getting ready to do similar mods.
Yes fishing line is definitely the best way I just didn’t have any. Thanks for all the tips still learning everyday. The rub is on the sway bar it’s not horrible but it can cause issues if your towing a load and need to park in a tight spot.
@@elevationdentco.4463 I wonder if 35" would have retained the F450's turning benefit. Even with 37's, are you still able to turn tighter than an F350?

Fishing line works great for getting behind emblems and cutting through the foam and adhesive without hurt paint or denting panel.

I like the idea of painting the parts verses putting a wrap on them. It looks good and should last longer.

Great job, as always. For removing emblems, I recommend a nylon cord for cutting windows, it works great and does not scratch. And for pop out the trims Whale tale works awesome. Greatings from Belgium

Did you use the same grit on all the chrome parts? Also after applying sealer then ready to paint it black did you light sanded at all? Doing a chrome delete project myself looking for better and clean results like yours !

Thoughts on a good Matte Black product I could shoot with an HVLP setup? I’ve got an Apollo Stage 4 turbine, haven’t gotten into automotive paints before. Looks great!
Hello Matthew . There’s alot of good products you could use.. I recommend going into you local Autobody supply store they should carry Dupont,ppg,R&M,Ect.. For matte black i would recommend spraying a flat/eggshell clear over top the parts to protect them from chipping..

Sweet build and great video. I see at 4:52 you’ve got the chrome insert pieces out of the grill. How’d you get those out?
Appreciate it 👊.. Those inserts just have small tabs on the back. They pop off pretty easy with a clip tool.
How much material did you use to get it all done (approximately)?

Thank you.. Yes make sure you scuff with a red scotch brite pad first. I would also spray some adhesion promoter on the trim before painting so the paint sticks long term.
