    Actually, props to Jack's family for doing what was right for their son, and everyone he targeted, once they found out. The parents of many young bullies simply refuse to accept that their offspring are capable of such behavior.

    • @0INFERNO1
      @0INFERNO1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      sadly, most of those born into it will never leave a cult. It's all they know. That's why everyone is isolated and harsh rules for punishment are in place. Imagine being threatened with being thrown out of the only life you've ever known with nothing but the clothes on your back. That is a daily reality for many. I've done a lot of online searching about cults and cult like behavior. It's stuff that would give most people nightmares.

  • @sally8708
    @sally8708 2 ปีที่แล้ว +149

    PSA: Even if you’re not escaping a cult, please do get official documentation for Medical Power of Attorney and have a conversation with that person about your wishes. Don’t leave them standing there guessing and feeling guilty about whether they’re doing what you would want done.
    In my case, my mom is next of kin, and we’ve talked regularly about preferences for medical care, funerals, and body disposal (she’d like to be cremated, and I’d like to have a natural burial without embalming).
    Usually this advice falls on deaf ears, but nonetheless I have been recommending this to anyone that will listen for many years now. It’s unpleasant to consider your own mortality, and it can be an awkward/uncomfortable conversation, but it’s worth it. You could get hit by a bus tomorrow, and you could end up putting your loved ones through terrible decisions with a lot of uncertainty, potentially causing fights among loved ones, and probably leaving them with massive expenses for medical bills or funeral expenses (seriously, why spend thousands of dollars on a box that you’re putting in the ground, just because people might think it’s disrespectful to go an inexpensive route).
    Personally, I find it comforting to know exactly who is going to be taking care of my cat if anything happens to me. It was a difficult conversation to initiate, but I explained why, and it ended up being a great moment for us. It’s worth it. Do it today, not after something bad happens (because then you can’t).

      I will also add to this that you'll want a life-testament/end-of-life will and will figured out too and legally registered. It's uncomfortable to think about, but horrific things can be done to you when you no longer are mentally sound, or indeed, alive. Make sure you cast your voice into the future so that even after you're gone, you can still advocate for yourself.

    • @sally8708
      @sally8708 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jackdawkraai8373 Absolutely!! And the time to get things figured out and made official/legal is *before* something happens. You won’t be able to communicate your wishes afterward. Even still, it’s a conversation and process that most people don’t think to have or don’t want to have.

      I completely agree. My dad passed away almost 3 years ago and as per his wishes, we(his children) had him cremated and spread his ashes in a river we all vacationed at every summer growing up. The problem was that while he told me his wishes multiple times over the years, no matter how many times I asked him to, he didn’t tell his mom. I know he just didn’t want to argue with her, knowing that she wouldn’t approve. He did tell his sister a couple of times but she was only interested in pleasing her mom and said to hell with what he wanted. My sibling’s and I made sure his wishes were honored but now neither our grandma nor our aunt will speak to any of us. But, they’ve never really had any interest in being a part of our lives anyway. I’m pretty certain our aunt has told our grandma many lies about us since even before our dad died to ensure that none of us inherits any money from grandma so she and her son will get all of it. Oh well. I think my dad did a pretty good job raising us to be good and kind people so her not getting to know us is Grandma’s loss. Our aunt will end up inheriting a lot of money but she’ll still be miserable. Only a miserable person would lie and manipulate and be as cruel as she is. Beside’s, our maternal grandmother was the best! She didn’t have money to leave us but she loved us unconditionally and she knew what was most important in life and she shared that knowledge with us which is the greatest gift one can receive. I suppose I went off topic but… So it goes.

      My mom died in January following a month of severely declining health (dementia + fatty liver disease + esophageal cancer that wasn’t detected until it was already too late = BAD THINGS!), and was hospitalized during the last week of her life after her vital signs bottomed out in the nursing home. Every time we visited in the ICU, we re-emphasized that her wishes had been for no extraordinary measures, and every time we did that there was this audible sigh of relief from the staff that we were all on the same page (they’ve seen their share of family feuds on the subject, and as a volunteer firefighter/EMT who’s run my share of medic assist calls I can definitely concur!).
      After she died, Dad informed me that he’d decided to split responsibilities between me and my sister since we were the only ones left who can speak for him should he become mentally incapacitated. My sister is in charge of financial matters, and I’m in charge of the medical decisions (partly due to my medical training, but also because my sister and BIL live overseas and expediency can be an issue due to the distance).
      I’ve also set up firm instructions regarding medical care and funeral instructions to my daughters as well-we live in a “red” county that’s jam-packed with conservative Christians, and I’m an Eclectic Wiccan. This way they know I want a “green” burial with the service performed according to my religious beliefs and I don’t have to worry about Christianity being imposed on me even in death (let’s not put it past people around here to try some BS like that!).

    Story 1 - It is tempting ot judge the parents for not knowing Jack was behaving that way, but I think it's pretty clear that Jack was just very clever and sneaky, given how they responded. I'm surprised Jack told the truth to get out of the lie, but I suspect that ALSO is a hallmark of his parents' actual parenting ability: if he figured coming clean was better than spinning a web of lies that his parents would keep digging into, they must be doing something right. And again, the way they handled it also points that way. (I suppose it's also possible that Jack figured the booze was going to be the breaking point of something even worse, or that he was just dumb enough to blurt out the truth trying to defend himself.)
    I hope Jack learned a lesson and went on to become a better person; his parents and siblings seem like the kind of people who'd support him in this.

    Jack’s parents impressed me. I don’t have children, but I have absolutely no problem understanding that being a parent is an extremely difficult job, and that a kid can do bad things without having bad parents. Same as bad parents can raise good kids. It’s only so much a parent can do. But they initially trusted their child, and then the child admitted they had done something wrong, and then it was given the appropriate disciplinary actions. I hope Jack learned from it, and came over whatever made him misbehave and be mean towards others, and is doing better.
    Also, I loved that OP recognised what their mum gave up to put their desires over her “needs”(I don’t know how badly her phone was damaged”. OP clearly have a wonderful mum as well and I love that they valued that. And I hope OP grew up or grows up to have the job they want regardless of whether it’s feminine or masculine(I can’t actually think of a gender specific job), because that doesn’t matter.

    Both Rae & Justine need to have Advance Medical Directives, Living Wills & written affidavits forbidding family (cult) member having access to their medical treatment or records.

    I have found that tossing a ball into the street in front of a speeder makes them stop real fast and give them a mild heart attack. I have a city sign in my yard stating 15mph and another city sign saying "slow down, children at play". People daily fly through going 40+. I have 4 kids under 20 years old who love to ride bike in the driveway and play baseball. They occasionally run across the road to a big empty field to have more play room. I have bought a fairly large amount of big, bouncy kickballs to roll and bounce into the road when these jerks come flying through.

    It was pure luck that there even was a revenge.
    That bully should have been beaten up. Many times. When the phone was smashed, that would have been the breaking point for me. (or sooner).
    He bullied only because there were no consequences for his actions.

    I am a vertically challenge person. (5fiit 3) and always look younger at may age, even at 80 years old. While in high school my nemesis was this fellow classmate. He was the son of the Rambler dealer in town. She was a sweet heart and even supplied the cars for driver's ed. I don't know if she knew what kind of kid her son was. One day I find out that there was a tragic accident. It seems the my nemesis had gotten drunk *underage* and had fallen out of a car traveling at full speed. He died, and now I was free of bellying. I still feel sorry for his mother even though that happened over 65 years ago.

    First story reminds me of my school bully. Its not a revenge but more like I stole his spot light.
    Back in first grade, I'm the youngest (4 and 3-4 while others are 6 or 7) and on the chubby side. I'm a great target. Kid being kids, they like teasing but this jerk only targets me. For years. We have been classmates for two years, I only got rid of him in 3rd grade, however in 4th grade, he came to my class (because his mom bribe the teacher to place him to higher class)
    As always, he begun to single me out. Before, I let it go because it was just a few teasing and fat shaming, but when he became more verbally abuse like more name calling and almost got physical. I got enough. Like I said, I didn't made a revenge. I just stole his light.
    He bully other kids because he likes being in the center. He loves being the mr. Popular in class for being funny and friendly. And his way is to make fun of someone that could make others laugh.
    So instead of fighting back, I BECAME THE NEW CLASS CLOWN. I make more joke witty than him, I make more crude joke but without harming anyone, and I mostly make fun of myself. Like, since I'm the class pig, I show up once in lunch time, with an apple and pretend like a roast pig on the desk. Everyone likes that, it cause me some dignity but I'm more than happy to do so, when everyone came to like me more than him.
    Eventually, his bullying stops because no one did humor him anyway. I became the new popular kid in class (and to other neighboring class) and most of all, I was the top student at the end of the year and he was none.

    Jack was acting out because his family was neglecting him. Puberty, anxiety about his parents focus on the twins & his lack of coping skills all contribute to his behaviour. We need to address mental health issues if we ever want to help bullying become a thing of the past.

    It's also kinda disgusting that the hospital would give priority to family over friends. That's an attitude/policy that desperately needs reform.

    In the last story as a Christian I'm horrified by what the parents believe because that's not what God would want. God is a forgiving and loving God who just wants the best for his people and would be sad if his people turned their backs on him but he wouldn't punish them he would wait years until his people turned back to him and would accept them back with open arms.

    I grew up in a cult. I got out 42 years ago and have been shunned ever since (they say they don’t shun but that is BS). None of my relatives, including my 85 year old mother can have no contact with me. None of them ever called me when my dad died .After 42 years a logical person would get the idea I’m never going to be one of them again but the shunning continues. Through friends I have found out that my relatives do little for my mom. She is lonely. She is a widow. Her step son robbed her blind (he is a member of the cult and no one in the cult will do anything because he is rich). He even had his lawyer send a cease and desist letter to stop her from talking but she’ll never shut up. I badly want to take care of her but I can’t without rejoining the cult. Someone outside he cult asked her if she realizes she is being punished, not me? I want her out of that cult but her friends and her siblings are all members. I send her things through my friends there but she has no idea that these things are from me. I honestly hate that cult!
