      It's like during a fight between my girlfriend and I, I mention or say something mean about her dear late mom, who sadly passed away relatively recently, as of the moment this comment is written. What you said is so true. When a spouse cheats that person doesn’t just cheat on the spouse. They cheat on the kids, the in-laws, his parents who believed they raised a decent child and everyone else who trusted him. So many are hurt and disillusioned. A divorce for these reasons is worse in a way than a death in the family because it is the death of love, esteem and trust and instead of people drawing closer in sympathy, they are torn apart with suspicion. As a spouse who was cheated on by a husband raised in a devout Christian family I feel somewhat rejected by some who assumed that I must have failed him miserably by making him unhappy in some way. Was a good wife? God only knows, I tried to be, but I was never good enough. I must not have been. I was replaced by a stripper.

    Jeff gave the universe (OP) the tools needed to serve his karma for his misdeeds. OP may have been wrong to use the tools, but *tools are meant to be used,* so that balances out. The reality that Jeff's divorce & firing were based on fiction (at least partially), is balanced by the egregious dishonesty Jeff employed to achieve his new life/wife/job/home.
    So, plenty of poetic justice & Eileen was empowered to move on toward a better future after devastation, trauma, & self-doubt Jeff caused her.

    The law student story, while yes, they should have left it be however, if they asked permission from the friend, then it's justified. The only thing people are glossing over is that the friend did acknowledge that they shouldn't have done what they did, so accusing them of doing wrong is moot.

    About the 3rd story, I work in a grocery store that has the similar policy, where if an item is overcharged, if it's under 10$ it's free, over 10$ you get a 10$ discount and it's only for the first item (other items get the overcharge off but they don't get an extra discount). The discount doesnt apply to employees either because... well I know when items are overcharged and I could abuse it to get free items.

    • @lztx
      @lztx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Your item is free if scanned at a higher price (for the first one, difference returned for the rest)" has been the policy of most grocery stores in Australia since barcodes started to be used, though I'm not sure if there was a cap. I've used that "weird trick" several times but never maliciously like in the story.

    Re: 2nd Story - I think OP wronged Eileen in this. After being fully able to prove that he (Jeff) fraudulently hid the money so he could keep it in the divorce, he could've constructed a case for her for restitution. He is training to be a lawyer, which has ethics attached to that profession.
    I don't care about Jeff in the slightest in this situation. He's a lying scumbag. 'Nuff said. (Edited because I referenced the wrong story)

    I really wish that Aunt Eileen had gotten compensation somehow. I honestly thought that OP was going to bring the evidence to Aunt Eileen and she could possibly re-file (don't know if you can do this) divorce compensation due to hidden assets. That would have been way more satisfying. Aunt Eileen, who was the one who'd been wronged didn't really get anything from this.
    Also, yes, Jeff deserved everything that happened, but the way it happened was a little too grimy for my taste.

    So, genuine question for attorneys out there: Cheater Jeff hid financial assets prior to his divorce. Could the ex-wife not go after that since he literally hid assets from the court? (Yes, I understand this varies based on being a community property state, not or potentially another country).

      Yes(if there isn’t a time frame where they live after the divorce), which why what OP did as a law student was so stupid. He found proof on Eileens property of this evasion all he had to do was let her know so she could decide what to do with it.
