I had a similar situation when I moved to my farm with ATV’s and also with campers and hikers that had been used to having free reign. I did post a few keep out signs, I did find out after talking to some of them that they had enjoyed my property and had no where else to go. I have 80 acres so I designated an area for them to use, in partial exchange for some work! It worked out real well, they had a place to come to and also helped me with many different projects, clearing trails, cutting fire wood and even helped with some building projects. That was 10 years ago, they actually helped me establish camping areas and structures that I now use as “air b&bs”!

I was thinking the same thing, I couldn’t hear what he told them but most people are just looking for places to ride and if you just let them know that…hey i just bought this and plan on living here and fixing it up and i would appreciate if you pass the word around…they will respect that and help you and keep an eye on the van, etc. If you run them off you may end up with some ill will coming back on you.

You’ve got an absolutely prime piece of property! All those apple trees means fresh and cold stored fruits, deer for meat that come In to feed on the apples. That creek could support a small hydroelectric plant that can produce power with a pelton wheel. This can produce power for your cabin and even to power a pump to your house.
A small root cellar to store fruits and vegetables. You’ve got an unlimited supply of firewood to heat your cabin in the winter. You’ve got a gem Tyler, a diamond in the rough. And you’re the gemologist.

Having homesteaded in Alaska and having had a VERY long "driveway" that was often flooded out, I have to say that you would benefit from getting one of those tough plastic sleds ( the ones used for gear and dragged by a snowmobile...there are various sizes.) Pick one that is not too big and you can LOAD it and drag it in for about the same amount of effort. You will be able to move MUCH more at a time up that road. Even my twelve year old son ( at the time) was able to sledge LARGE amounts of gear in from the main road. It will save your back and many trips back and forth! The sleds wear well. There will be some gouges but it will remain intact. That is what we did to get our supplies back into our property and to our cabin. Enjoyed the video. Cheers!

Possibly build a little relationship with some of the ATV folks that could help you with finding a good used ATV and a ATV big wheeled trailer. The Borax for Ant control. If you are looking at building some sort of garden think of an 8ft fence and solar hot wire around it. Bring in Dry Concrete to rebuild your foundation.

When money allows and if an ATV isn't in the picture, I've had good luck with an old riding lawn mower with AG tires and the deck removed. I have a small pull behind cart that I hitch to it and it _really_ helps with lugging material to and from my job sites on the property. Shoutout to Bush Radical for that tip.

Get yourself a USB rechargeable shower Amazon has them , just place the end in a bucket of warm/hot water . You could utilise the old mattress, if they have metal inner springs ,. Strip off or burn of the old material then it could be used as a screen/windbreak for your shower placed upright . Grow a vine up it or use it to grow beans a upright garden structure or I have seen them used as sides for a chicken coop . The place looks awesome, great work . I woud be getting a gold pan see what treasures are in that creek .

Are you planning on living in this cabin through the winter? I watch TH-cam videos on a large smart TV, so I rarely read or leave comments. I watched your other downloads about this cabin. You work hard and have wonderful results. You could use some peppermint oil mixed with water to repel ants. White vinegar also works. You might have to spray under the cabin in the dry soil underneath. If I were going to even visit in the winter, I would want to caulk the windows inside and out to stop some of the wind and get that stove working. I would also suggest Dr. Bronner's peppermint oil soap. It's biodegradable, can be used for hair, body and teeth(though it taste awful), helps eradicate funguses, can be sprayed on fruit trees to repel bugs and disease and for sponge baths. If you don't get it all off it won't hurt you and even has some olive oil in it that's soothing for dry skin. If you use it on your privates and pits you won't smell. Be careful it's concentrated. You have to dilute it. I buy it by the gallon. Not for dog baths, but it's a lovely shower for humans. I'll be watching. Hope Dobby enjoyed the beach and some time with you! My guess is 65 apple trees.

Hello to you Tyler and to little Dobby from Australia. This was a very interesting video. You’ve made a lot of progress. The place definitely looks ‘lived in’ now. I hope the ATV visitors respect your new ownership of the house and land. It appears that quite a few people favour your place for their 4-wheeler adventures. Perhaps putting up a few ‘Private Property’ signs on sticks around some of the tracks would help to get word out that it is now your private property. @@tyleranddobby Hey Tyler, thanks for your reply. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Australia. It really is a wonderful place to live. I’ve been reading through all the comments and there’s some pretty helpful advice there. A big thought occurred to me about the trespassers; especially given they were less than enthused about your new ownership of you place. Please be sure to note their licence plate numbers if you can. Take notes on any of the descriptive details ‘just in case’. I’m also a lone person (military veteran with PTSD), and I’m very accustomed to taking a mental note of my surroundings just as a precaution and for self preservation. If something unpleasant occurs, then you have a potential lead for the authorities to look at. It might sound a tad odd to get into the habit, but it could be very helpful in the future. It’s a strange old world that we live in, and we must look out for ourselves and our property. This is just some Kind-hearted advice from an old gal who never underestimates what life can throw at you. Stay well Tyler, and pat Dobby for me. Kind regards mate! 🇦🇺🦘

I bought a property in 2018, after being homeless for 5 years. When I see a snake on my property, it's like a " good luck" sign. They are little garter snakes, not harmful ones. How many apple trees? I'm gonna guess 29. Please stabilize the foundation of your cabin as soon as possible! You would have to put a brick or pad on the ground and put a jack under the corners to raise it up, then put some sturdier structure under there. I enjoyed your video, welcome to TH-cam, most of us on here are kind supportive people. Have a great week!

The hikers on the 4 wheelers looked respectful to me, they left when they understood the property had been sold, so nothing to worry about :)

Suggestion - in the future maybe clear a path around the house (instead of directly to) for the ATV's to travel along with your blessing. This may keep good will and hopefully people can help you transport supplies and gear back and forth some times.

Hi Tyler and Dobby! I'm new on your channel. I did watch most of the older videos before you purchased that property. I liked them, they were nice, but now i love the new ones from your property. What an amazing change. You have worked so hard and there is a lot to do, but if somebody can do it, dear heart, that is you! The peacefulness and the beauty all around is just breathtaking. You have seen comments of putting a tarp or tar on the roof. I agree that at least until you can put a new roof, that's a good idea. I'm sure you are going to work also on the logs under the house. Just be safe, and one thing at a time. And be proud of yourself for all the wonderful things you have accomplished. I don't know you but I'm super proud of you. God bless you and your ever loving best friend!!!

Just found your channel. Loving your journey!
For your shower, I saw another Canadian Van lifer (Vancity Vanlife on TH-cam )using a Joolca water heater. It has an inlet hose to whatever your water source is ( i.e. river, rain barrel), heats that water and then you can take a shower. Maybe try that?
Best of luck! Cheers from Texas! 👋

For your buddy watch out for the ticks. They can do a number on you and your dog. You have deer around your property so I bet you have deer ticks. My dog got the lime disease and since then has had to have a shot every year to protect her. If your dog starts to have a hard time walking or moving around get her checked by a vet. Your cabin is in a beautiful area. I hope it is well-insulated for the winter. Save your wood furniture for the camp stove. It is time to start piling the wood for the winter months.

Hi. “Boss of the swamp” used a carboy painted black to heat water in sun during the day to get a warm shower. Think it’s a couple gallons. You may enjoy his channel and also “kyles cabin”
Good luck. You don’t have to do everything at once. Enjoy your life and work hard is satisfying

Love your videos. You’ve made great progress. I agree with the comments on metal roof and no trespassing signs. Have you considered getting a second dog? A buddy for Dobby to run around with would help with boredom and give you more protection.
