What are you basing that on though? All foamed well. Avalanche seemed to leave the paintwork quickest, which is potentially what you want considering you're trying to remove dirt from the surface. Although do you need it to dwell longer in order remove better? I don't know and you don't know, which is why ranking them in order of foaminess is a bit of a futile endeavour.

  • @stuartwhitehead2374

I'm unsure what the comparison was supposed to be. Just looking how foamy they are does not indicate which is best for cleaning and lifting dirt. What's your thoughts on best cleaning ability in order to reduce contact cleaning risk?

  • @nick7602
    @nick7602 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Having used a few snow foams here in the UK, my personal favourite has to be Bilt Hamber, I apply this straight to the car using a snow foam cannon with out rinsing first, I found this breaks the surface tension of the grit and dirt, rinse off and apply a second application of snow foam, before the contact wash the results have been outstanding……Bilt Hamber doesnt give that thick rich snow foam suds……but its really effective

Yeah would have been very interesting to see a comparison on the cleaning ability between the Adam's Megafoam and Bilt Hamber Auto-Foam. The prewash foams I have used so far and have not tried the Megafoam. The BH Auto-Foam has been outstanding in the cleaning ability from it. Even on a very dirty vehical it's very close that you get away with a touchless wash when you use the Auto-Foam. Maybe not the thickest foam if you just go on that. But foam thickness is much for show IMO. And it's the cleaning ability from it that I'm after.
Could be that BH Auto-Foam only comes in 5L jug. Don't bother me as I love it LOL

    1. Gtechniq W4, it will do the most work on contamints
    2. Anglewax Fast Foam, really good performance on contaminants
    3. Griot's Garage Surface Foam, another workhorse when it comes to contaminents
    4. Avalanche, do not know much about it, I have heard nothing but good things.
    5. Adam's Ultra Foam, certainly the nicest looking foam, and decent performance on contaminants
    6. Chemical Guys Honey Dew Snow Foam, looks really nice, thick consistancy, though competition is getting fierce, Honey Dew Snow Foam is in need of update, it doesn't perform as well as the others when it comes to loosening dirt dirt and contaminents.

From the US, but I gotta say I liked the angel wax the best. The Adam's most definitely has the thickest foam, but it just sits there. I feel like the foam should be thick AND roll down the panels to actually encapsulate and lift dirt.

Should've tested concentrated car wash solutions too imo. Like meguiars hyper wash and car pro reset. Hyper wash is $28 w/ prime shipping for a gallon and reset is $25 w/ prime shipping for a liter. If you round up that's .22/oz for the hyper wash and .73/oz for reset. Also a gallon of reset is $85 which would bring it down to .66/oz if you had enough money to splurge on the gallon. EDIT: If we're going off pure foam thickness and it's ability to not run off the paint quickly the adam's won from what I can tell. The angelwax fast foam would be my second choice.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the UK products as I have never used them.
But if I had to choose from the selection provided I would recommend Adam's for a prewash foam, followed by Griots for the contact wash (yeah I know this is just about foam). I have and still do occasionally use honeydew and it's not bad.
But just because it makes a lot of foam doesn't mean it's the best. I personally think lubricity in a soap is very important and that was totally ignored here 🤔 so I guess quality wasn't the point of this review.
But it still was worth watching 👍✌️

G'day Pan, thanks for taking the time to conduct this test. I personally like a thin runny type of foam covering as it is easier to remove from crevices, gaps and other tight spots, so I will vote for Angel Wax Fast Foam. I find having a thicker foam is harder to remove from tight spots and crevices, as they keep foaming when trying to remove. Cheers.

i agree with you, the optimum foam is not too creamy and not too watery because it must stick to the car paint for at least the time to do its chemical work (dissolve the dirt) but at the same time it must slide down to the ground dragging the dirt with it

I can't pick a winner. I guess the lesson I learned is that any of the snow foams will work fine, you just need a good snow foam cannon, a good pressure washer, and soft water, and you'll be fine using a 1:8 ratio.
I'm still waiting for the MJJC and the PA Italy snow cannons to turn up. In the mean time I can't get any useful foam from the Ryobi one that is an accessory for my Ryobi I've tried 1:8 right up to 1:4 ratio , and just get an anemic watery slush. Oh, that's using the Turtle Wax Ice Snow Foam, which others have had acceptable results with.

I think Adams was the thickest if that’s what your going for,
What brand had the best smell and a important thing is witch brand rinses the easiest ? I have used a few different snow foams and for example turtle wax ice snow foam vs honeydew snow foam the ice was harder to rinse , so if I do equal amount of rinse I find globs of soap when I open the trunk and hood door jams etc. some soaps a lot and some none , I found honeydew rinsed the easiest so far,I’m going to try Adams mega foam it’s on order😀

I haven’t watched the video yet, but I’m going to say Auto Finesse wins or Adams Mega foam🤔
So after watching the video I would choose CG Honeydew just for the foam how thick and how long it stays before it breaks down. Auto Finesse Avalanche for it’s cleaning capabilities. Mix the 2 and you have a perfect product. 👍🏻👍🏻

No doubt that Adams Megafoam has an amazing shaving cream consistency. I have it in my arsenal, but seldom use it. I don't like the pungent bubble gum smell of the Megafoam.
Therefore, my go to snow foam is the Chemical Guys Honeydew. Love the smell and yes it does a very good job. BTW, CarPro Reset will always be the proper shampoo for my follow up 2 bucket mechanical wash. Another proper smelling shampoo.

I never swap orifices. I just use what ever stock orifice comes pre-installed.

As you said, we only use snow foam as a prewash and, so long as it starts the process adequately, the quality of the following shampoo and your washing techniques are far more important. You are really only paying extra money for the scent of your choice and a, largely irrelevant, thicker appearance.
Go with the value, and spend the extra on a quality ceramic coating :-)

That Bimmer should be Tommy Two Face's car in the next Batman movie; OS foamed 6 times, NS got Butkus. In your workshop, you sound a bit breathless, for once. Did you do the commentary after lugging that pressure washer x6?
As a scientist, there's one variable you didn't mention that needs to be kept consistent; the timespan before returning to show the coverage. In your demo, rather than thickness I'd go by 'cling', hoping the suds are getting under the dirt on the verticals rather than just dribbling onto the driveway.
Like many here (British bias averted) I was most impressed with your 2019 #1, followed by the Angelwax (graphic says 42c/oz, commentary says 47c/oz, my calc says 43c/oz). Do I win a prize for nerdiest fault-spot?
