Great video as per Greame, can I ask u tho, see how you've been doing the GT Tyre Serum, what's ur wash process for ur wheels n tyres? Do u still scrub them and if not do u apply it after every wash? Cheers Alan. 😎👍🏻🏴
Hi Alan, great question and I’m glad you asked mate, I’ve literally only used tyre serum 3 or 4 times since beginning of January and 5 months later the tyres are still conditioned and looking amazing , yes they get dirty and lose their perfect looks but just some GT wheel shampoo and a hogs hair brush is all you need to clean the tyres , scrubbing them isn’t necessary with tyre serum. For the wheels, well mines are ceramic coated so dirt build up isn’t as bad as without a coating , but again, GT one wheel shampoo in a bucket and also in a pump foamer like the IK foamer. Basically same process as your car, rinse , foam, and shampoo, once every few months I’ll go in with zero decon just to cleanse the ceramic and top up with GT Sigma, hardly need to use fallout remover on them at all with GT products. And yes, you can apply tyre serum after every wash if you like but I haven’t been and I still see the benefits , I didn’t in the early part of the year with winter salts etc but that was just the same dirt that was on the paint anyway , nothing stays clean very long does it 🤨

It will certainly help to get rid of most of the debris by a pre rinse with the jet wash but before you use the snow foam allow 10 mins for the car to dry off most of the water before you use the snow foam otherwise it won’t stick as well as it should. Hope that helps 👍
Basic chemistry says otherwise. Many of the ingredients will simply sit on top of water and not do their job. A water pre-rinse often moves dirt about, although obviously if your car has chunks of dirt that may make you feel otherwise. Try pre rinsing one side and straight foaming the other and establish the difference. Best of luck..
Hi. Enjoyed your video, thanks. 🏴 I’m looking to buy this stuff soon once I upgrade to a GTI 8. One question I see lots of videos where they apply the foam direct to the car without rinsing the car with water first. Do you not do that, and why out of interest? Thanks.
Hi James. Thanks for your comment & questions, rinsing before applying snowfoam is a very subjective process , best thing to do is try both ways and decide what best suits you , sometimes I’ll pre rinse all the car first then clean the wheels allowing the car to dry before applying snow foam, but in hard water areas this might create water spots , something I don’t suffer from here, another reason to pre rinse is to lower the panel temps if it’s warm, but that leads to another question of whether you should be cleaning your car in the sun 😅
There are many reasons why a pre rinse is necessary , cool the panel down on a warm day, removing the crusty top layer of dirt /sand deposits so the foam has a better chance to work on the traffic film, whichever method works for the conditions I say 👍
I have used this with a mix of 50/50 and not much happens. Lots of foam but as for removing muck, useless. I’m not convinced about the whole snow foam thing.
It’s not going to remove dirt that’s been on a vehicle for over a week, either protected or not there just isn’t that much cleaning power in the majority of foams to actually contactless dirt removal It has its uses to help soften built up dirt or to allow a powerful pre wash spray dwell longer but the product itself won’t be all that potent
I've never used a pressure washer or snow foam before. Can I ask if it's better to pressure wash the car first and then use the snow foam or should I go straight on with the snow foam? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Mike thanks for commenting your question, there are 2 answers to this 1. If your car has an incredible amount of loose dirt like mud/ winter salt deposits eg I would give the whole car a pressure rinse down to remove anything that can be removed to allow the foam to work on the layer of film that’s stuck to the sides of the car, but allow the car to dry a little before applying foam 2. If you only washed the car in the last couple of weeks and it doesn’t have a build up of mud / debris then go ahead and foam straight on top of the dirt , let it dwell until you see the foam split apart and go thin then pressure wash it off methodically, use the pressure washer lance like you’re painting a wall and remove as much dirt as possible before using the shampoo
Polar Wash is the shampoo to be used with your mitt , cloth or sponge. I was only reviewing the Polar Blast products in this video, but I wouldn’t use a sponge with a snowfoam as it’s not designed to be used this way. 👍
You could use that ratio if you wanted but that’s 600ml of solution , I only wanted to make up 500ml so the ratio becomes 83.333333333 😅 5:1 is 6 parts in total , 80ml polar blast added to 420ml water making up 500ml solution 👍
Was that weater you had in the jug then just added a small amoumt of soap ot it ? i have always used carplan soap would that work. also what's wrong with the kärcher FJ6 Foam Nozzle which is half the price ?.. also what does the Polar blast say this on amazon Use as a pre-wash to reduce the risk of scratches & swirls
Hi Fred, yes mate, just tap water approx 415ml and top up to the 500ml with the Auto Glym snow foam. You could fill the whole bottle and use 160ml of soap but I never need a whole litre to cover the car. Carplan soap is not going to give you great results in a snow canon, best using the correct product for the tool. The Kärcher FJ6 is ok, I just find the tank a little small and the foam quite watery so not effective as a dedicated lance like the one I was using in the video, these brass lances can be as cheap as £5 now if you look around , are you in the UK Fred?
@@GMDetails i just replied but can't see it now ? i live in Cornwall so yes UK what do you mean brass lance i thought you used the kacher one. i have seen the foam gun with adapter on amazon but when i post a link my post disappears

Hey Drew!, people need to wind their necks in with the snobbery , AutoGlym has been and will be around long after many brands sink. I think a lot of Thor products still hold up well today and this snowfoam is excellent , I’ve used it a lot since first getting it and all this month I’ve never contact washed the car once!! Polar Blast was enough for the maintenance clean, Amazon is a bit cheaper than Halfords for it so I’ve put a link in the description if you need a top up 😁
@@GMDetails got the full range in my armoury along with GT and BH. I find autoglym perfect if I want a quick snowfoam, wash and seal in the shortest time to good effect particularly for my large van 👍😁
Yeah I got a Lance and foam in the Halfords cock up aswell. I think the Lance is dead on. Alot better than my cheap Chinese one I got of eBay, which I had been using for a couple years.
It’s really weather dependant I’m not going to put a foam straight onto a warm car but if I do pre rinse I’ll leave it to dry while I clean the wheels before applying the foam 👍
Yes straight on a dirty car is generally correct unless it’s a warm day or a dark car with warm panel temperatures I would rinse to cool the panels but when I made the video I was ‘pre rinsing’ it seems this isn’t really necessary now as the foam works best with some dirt to cling on to 👌
@@GMDetails Hi GM. Yes, good points worth considering 👍 Ok, so when I clean my cars I do it only 2-3 times a year but I do it properly (body work prep is; rinse, 2-bucket agitated AG bodywork shampoo, rinse, dry with a petrol blower, AG super resin polish and finishing with the Autoglym extra gloss protection). It's a lot of work but it lasts, protects well and looks fantastic. So in this case, as usual, I hadn't cleaned the car in a few months. I was hoping the 3 stage AG polar kit would result in less manual effort. In the end maybe it was a little quicker but it was more awkward and the finish isn't as good. And of the 3 products, I struggled to find any real value in the polar blast. Hence my comment. Any thoughts?
Ah yeah makes sense now, I actually refer to this in my latest video that a snowfoam won’t remove grime that’s had months to bake onto the paint , it’s not what snowfoam was designed to do! If you leave it that long try a citrus degreaser first without rinsing off first , then a layer of the snowfoam and let it dwell as long as you can before it dries, you also don’t want the foam super thick like an inch of foam is too thick, and it may take a couple of hits with this to even begin to show some impact, AutoGlym products are designed to maintain your car not to have to rescue it from the weather 😅 What’s actually happened is the dirt has had months of getting dirtier and as each day passes it gets more and more ingrained and harder to remove , worse if you have a dark coloured car too!! So all is not lost, try some citrus pre wash before the foam, I’ve found Autoglanz Spritzer to be excellent , have a look at my last video featuring Autoglanz products (didn’t need Spritzer this time tho) but in the description is a link to get you 15% off to try it ) Hope that helps your frustration a little
@@GMDetails Hi GM. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I decided to check the Autoglym site and here is the descrition they provide for their Polar Blast product: _a rich blanket of foam that clings to paintwork to gently loosen dirt and heavy soiling. This reduces the risk of scratches and swirl marks caused by a sponge or wash mitt moving over heavy contamination._ Heavy soiling and heavy contamination only really occur on paintwork after prolonged periods. So it seems that my use-case falls perfectly within the product's remit 🤷♂️ Regardless, your advice of using a citrus degreaser first is certainly sage. I am reluctant to add yet another stage to washing the car however. I'd be better off doing it the way I was previously to be honest. It's less time, effort and money. What I will do first is give the Blast another go of course. I'm going to richen the ratio slightly (I did use the recommended ratio but it didn't foam enough). And I'm going to leave it to dwell longer. See if that improves the outcome. All the best, Trev (Derby, UK)
I’m not defending AutoGlym in any way in the video Trev 😅 or my previous comments, I do think that statements like you found on the website are misleading and far too general a statement to make. Even a dark coloured car will collect more dirt over time than a light coloured car because of the way the sun reacts with colours, no wonder so many people suffer rubbish results when they’re stating that on the bottle/website. The foam from your lance sounds strange , I found this mega thick through the AG lance itself but the top mixing dial to be all but useless in my case it was either full on foam or weak piss. I take it your lance is turned all the way clockwise so max amount of product is coming from the bottle? Who would have thought a product would bring such controversy as foam, too thick doesn’t clean, too runny and just falls off , pre rinse/don’t pre rinse 🤣 Makes you want to go back to fairy liquid and a bucket 🤣🤣
Cleanest car i ever saw that didn't need a wash

I think a lot of Thor products still hold up well today and this snowfoam is excellent , I’ve used it a lot since first getting it and all this month I’ve never contact washed the car once!! Polar Blast was enough for the maintenance clean, Amazon is a bit cheaper than Halfords for it so I’ve put a link in the description if you need a top up 😁
@@GMDetails got the full range in my armoury along with GT and BH. I find autoglym perfect if I want a quick snowfoam, wash and seal in the shortest time to good effect particularly for my large van 👍😁
It’s not too bad even you get the both for less than a tenner
😁 was quite a shock when I saw how much they should have cost 😮
Yeah I got a Lance and foam in the Halfords cock up aswell. I think the Lance is dead on. Alot better than my cheap Chinese one I got of eBay, which I had been using for a couple years.
Nice one Gary, have you tried adjusting the dilution dial up top?, does it spray water like mine did or is mine faulty? 🤔
Yours could be faulty but I only have it a quarter of a turn back next time I’ll turn it a bit more and see and let you know
Thanks mate 👍
put it strait on to the car no pre rinse
It’s really weather dependant I’m not going to put a foam straight onto a warm car but if I do pre rinse I’ll leave it to dry while I clean the wheels before applying the foam 👍
Mine is the same, the control is not that good.
Nice to know it’s not just me 😅
I thought the snow foam went straight on a dirty car. No need to fo pre rinse
Yes straight on a dirty car is generally correct unless it’s a warm day or a dark car with warm panel temperatures I would rinse to cool the panels but when I made the video I was ‘pre rinsing’ it seems this isn’t really necessary now as the foam works best with some dirt to cling on to 👌
I used snow foam for the first time today, that being AG Polar Blast. What a gimmick, I don't think it saved me any time or effort at all.
How long since the car was last cleaned? Was there any wax/sealant protection on the car at all?
If you leave it that long try a citrus degreaser first without rinsing off first , then a layer of the snowfoam and let it dwell as long as you can before it dries, you also don’t want the foam super thick like an inch of foam is too thick, and it may take a couple of hits with this to even begin to show some impact, AutoGlym products are designed to maintain your car not to have to rescue it from the weather 😅
What’s actually happened is the dirt has had months of getting dirtier and as each day passes it gets more and more ingrained and harder to remove , worse if you have a dark coloured car too!!
So all is not lost, try some citrus pre wash before the foam, I’ve found Autoglanz Spritzer to be excellent , have a look at my last video featuring Autoglanz products (didn’t need Spritzer this time tho) but in the description is a link to get you 15% off to try it )
Hope that helps your frustration a little
@@GMDetails Hi GM. Thank you for taking the time to reply.
I decided to check the Autoglym site and here is the descrition they provide for their Polar Blast product: _a rich blanket of foam that clings to paintwork to gently loosen dirt and heavy soiling.
This reduces the risk of scratches and swirl marks caused by a sponge or wash mitt moving over heavy contamination._
Heavy soiling and heavy contamination only really occur on paintwork after prolonged periods. So it seems that my use-case falls perfectly within the product's remit 🤷♂️
Regardless, your advice of using a citrus degreaser first is certainly sage.
Who would have thought a product would bring such controversy as foam, too thick doesn’t clean, too runny and just falls off , pre rinse/don’t pre rinse 🤣
Makes you want to go back to fairy liquid and a bucket 🤣🤣
Just bought and used them. Total waste of money
How come ?, what happened ??
Rinse car, bucket of shampoo, sponge…….. no need for snow foam
@@timlowe3081 it has its uses but there’s def not many that have good cleaning power but I did feel polar blast was decent enough
The whole autoglym polar range was shite
I’m finding it good, enjoying using the snow foam at least , what’s ‘shite’ about it 🤷🏻♂️
Explain? Are you 100% confident you've used it correctly?
