    2019 Ibis Ripley 4 bike review
    Must see footage, of the beautiful Santa Cruz California mountain bike trails, on the all new Ibis Ripley gen 4 29er.
    I had an absolute blast riding the new Ripley on a variety of different trails near the Ibis headquarters in Santa Cruz, CA. The 120mm travel 29er was a blast to ride and worthy to be called one of the best trail bikes I've ever ridden!

    Yumyum, That was great! I get a lot out of your reviews on your trails but it was cool to watch ( and listen ) to you riding the trails I ride every weekend!! I loved how excited you were to ride in the beautiful redwoods. I honestly tell myself every weekend how lucky me and my buddies are to ride those trails. • @mtbyumyum
      @mtbyumyum  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      dude, I'm right there with you... it's less about the the size of the drop or jump and more about how steep the trail is.. the steeper the trail the more off the back of the bike I am... get buzzed my the rear tire all the time. That why I usually opt for a 27.5 long travel bike that puts me out on the steep terrain better... maybe I'll try the Ripley with a 27.5 wheel out back... the bottom bracket isn't all that low on this bike.... humm.....

    Love your reviews always makes me want to get out and ride more! I'd apreciate your opinion on something. I ride in Arizona where it's rocks rocks more rocks. I have a 6" dw link bike for going fast. Now I'm looking for something that is more capable in the technical tight stuff especially climbing that we see out here. (Look up TH-cam videos of national trail) I rode and loved an sb4.5, but in the faster rough sections I felt myself wishing for a bit more travel. Sb100 also super responsive and nearly as agile in the technical climbs as the 4.5 but on the rough decents didn't gel at all. Haven't been able to get on an sb5.5, but I just can't imagine it having too much of a climbing deficit vs 4.5. (and there's lots of good closeout deals) the bike I really wanted to try is the Ripley v4, but I can't find a demo anywhere and they're two months back ordered if I did decide I wanted one. So given the terrain here would you lean towards the 4.5 or the Ripley? Maybe the 5.5 (maybe with a more little more progressive tune) may just Trump them?

    How's the maneuverability on the ripley? In the northeast I ride alot of uphill short punchy steep technical stuff. In some cases trails where they feel like halfpipes where you go down a hill into a trench and then up the other side and have to do a 180 degree turn. I'm just worried about it being a pig turning compared to a Mach 4 SL or a more XC aggressive angled bike

    • @mtbyumyum
      @mtbyumyum  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      thanks for mentioning... yeah, watching it back its confusing... I meant, ad speed... more rebound so the shock rebounds quicker... speed up the rebound, so fewer clicks of rebound dampening so the shock is more open. Thanks!
