    looks nice David. im almost done with mine... but we scored a used traxxas summit 1/10 newest gen with the BT transmitter,2x nimhs and charger. for 275usd Ish could pass on that deal.
    oure p407 i also got some Tamiya 51324 tires. light kit... and spare motor/esc kitt. Surpass Hobby Waterproof F540 3300KV supposed to be a nice little upgrade for this truck.
    but yeah the steering, i scratched my head when i was trying to install this......"nope, this needs modding" XD

      Yeah I just really wanted to drive this so zip tie steering servo it is. It surprised even me how solid those zips are. Not one little movement from the servo. When I get a better drill i will drill a servo mount to that plate but I will run it like this because I think it's funny lol.

    Keep it as it is, keep it real. Some crawlers have articulations that are just ridiculous. Even your mates RC in this video is ridiculous. The more real it is, the more thinking you need when crawling.

      a single roll bar / light bar could be cool, agree about the triple tube look being too "out there". top mounted lights DO get wrecked in a rollover so maybe no to lights there. make a custom roll bar?

    • @ToyotaGuy1971
      @ToyotaGuy1971 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I rather like my Bruiser's sleeper cab. It's a late-70's - early-eighties monster truck, and that sleeper cab with the duel, off-set bubble-widows, is reminiscent of the cool custom vans that were so popular then. So they give it that little extra, fantasy-custom look of the late-70's van scene I love so much. That's also why I prefer the original utility tires; because when monster trucks were just beginning to get popular; that's what they had, so as a monster truck from the late-70's, early-80's; it's perfect, just the way they made it. Everything on it, is perfectly scaled, for what it is; big bumpers and all. You have to think of it as what it was meant to be; or you can't fully appreciate it's glory.

  • @toddbertram6556
    @toddbertram6556 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would not recommend zip tying your steering servo. It might be something that you could do for a servo winch and not really suffer the consequences on the trail but steering servo need to be bolted down

    • @RunThatRC
      @RunThatRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I normally would not do it but the way the servo sits under that metal plate and the way it is zip tied it really doesn't move even a little bit. I used heavy duty zips and have ran 6 packs through the rig already and so far it's been good. It was just originally for fitting but when I tightened the zips it was solid so I figured let's see how this holds. Just bring extra zips when I trail lol. I don't think these cheap jx servos are waterproof anyways so I do expect to break it and probably when I install a better servo I'll make a mount for it. It shouldn't be too hard.

    If not, what should i upgrade?

    • @RunThatRC
      @RunThatRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure what the rtr comes with for electronics but I dont really recommend this on 3s. Its a fragile truck for what it is and 3s will just lead to breakages for sure. But if you still what to give it a try like I did just take it easy and you will or may need a new 3s capable esc like the 1080 hobbywing.

    really SWEET no BS steering servo mount mod right there! old school just like the Tamiya it copied and not a thing I don't like about it, while at the same time I'm thinking what the gearbox (axles too?) might do with 4 link and long travel coil overs, because a bruiser was always kinda stiff. might be aftermarket leaf springs could get it to be a little more limber?
    don't know so asking, is the steering servo horn long enough to get full steering lock to lock?
    with the drifting C-24 I did file some of the stops away at front outer carriers to get a few more degrees steering from it, can't go too much or the dog bone ends can begin binding, losing contact etc. didn't do that to WPL type crawlers, those parts seeing more torque.

    • @RunThatRC
      @RunThatRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The servo horn could probably be one or two holes longer but it's close to full lock. For my drift build im going to install the newer u joint style front hexes for more steering angle.

    • @RunThatRC
      @RunThatRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      if the esc has a jumper and only one jumper it is likely to be a lipo cutoff setting. you shouldn't have an issue running 7.2v nimh packs if thats the case. If you know the model of the esc you can probably search the specs on the esc.

    • @RunThatRC
      @RunThatRC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it has 2 jumpers. One is probably for forward back reverse or forward reverse only modes. You will know which mode your in when running it. The nimh battery will sag causing a low voltage cutoff situation. Just switch the jumper when that happens and you should be in nimh mode.
