  • The HG P407 kit aka Bruiser clone out for some action. Having a 3 speed transmission (that I need to setup correctly) is fun! I really like this rig and running this on 3s is something it really doesn't need specially with the hobbywing 80a esc and Hobbyporter hp-007 tx/rx. Usually use a 2s 5000mah 40c battery just tried a 2200mah 3s 60c lipo out. It's fun in 2wd to bash around but not really needed in 4wd. Hope you guy enjoy this run. Thanks for all the support!

      For sure. That makes this truck great because I get to drive a dream rig without feeling guilty. I would love to have a brand new original but that would never see runtime hahaha. Surprisingly planted with all the weight down low even without good articulation or wheel weights. The Bruiser definitely deserves a "they don't make them like they use to" label.

    When I first tried to rock crawl with mine, I thought it looked like a skateboard bouncing down stairs. Left one leaf spring and changed tires now it looks like a much better skateboard. Hello David, a short one to thank you for all the hints you gave us about this RC: I did manage to fix the steering using the exact same method you devised and it works great, way better that that clumsy outdated original Tamiya.
    Now I'm going to fix the ESC with the HobbyWing 1080 since the installed one was making noise even on idle, and the reverse was full throttle or nothing!
    After all I think I will keep the wheels as they are and eventually find some other tires with different designs.
    With some little updates you truly get a fine RC to run! ;)

      @@RunThatRC Run That RC I've done mounting the 1080 ESC and it runs all right but I also found that it was the shifting gear servo making the noise all the time, even when it shouldn't be working: I even swapped it with the original steering servo but nothing changes. I may replace it as you did with a 20 kg servo (the same I use for steering) but I'm afraid the problem may go deeper since the changing gears is quite slippery and more often than not fails to engage either the high or medium 2WD. I mean the engine spindle, but not the wheels! Only if I push the rod by hand it engages: I have to delve into it some more...

    • @sanatkumarasharma3627
      @sanatkumarasharma3627 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Good news is that I disassembled the gearbox and there are no damages, and it looks it has been greased as well.
      Now I will reassemble it and grease it with Teflon grease: will that be OK? Should I use the green marine grease or a lithium one I have around? Perhaps a sylicon grease? Any suggestion?
      Still it remains to be fixed the poor shifting on this rc: it would be very helpful if you'll delve into it in one of your next workbench videos...

    I still have the stock electronics for my HG P407. The radio/servos are in a rc push tug, been working fine for well over two years. I know the manual states the battery is a lipo but it's actually a Li Ion(?).
    My question, does the stock esc have Lipo cutoff and if so, is there anything I need to do before running lipo's thru it?
    I want to use it in a small 18" rc tug boat with a 385 turn brushed motor and a small 2S lipo pack (Traxxas 2200mah)

  • @sanatkumarasharma3627

    Today I got this as an RTR version was on sale for a lot less than the Kit. First thing I had to disassemble the axles to lock the differentials and of course two of the axles screws were red locked so tights I stripped the heads with those ludicrous Allen tools.
    Any idea where to find the complete screw set as spare from HG?!
    In the meantime I'm also planning on a few upgrades for which I'm waiting the shipments, and that surely include a different radio, ESC, the steering servo and some other bits mostly cosmetics.
    I'm also thinking to find a way to have a shorter back axle, if possible, and to replace the wheels' hubs to the hexagonal ones so I can have better choices of different rims and wheels, possibly more to scale.
    Have you any thinking about modding your Bruiser too? That would be interesting if you do...

      I do like my bruiser clone. I really don't think im going to modify it because it just looks cool the way it is. It's so 80s hahaha. They make adapters to switch the wheels to 12mm hex. I have seen someone switch the suspension and axles out for shorter ones but don't remember where i seen it and what parts he used. Im sure if you research hard enough you will find some sweet mods people do to these. Thanks for stopping by!

    • @sanatkumarasharma3627
      @sanatkumarasharma3627 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see what you mean and why you like this RC: of course by choosing the KIT version you were able not only to check and verify each piece and bit, but most importantly you bypassed the ugly electronics they put into the RTR.
      My RTR version was on offer and discounted so I'm not much complaining, and even by buying replacements and updates it won't cost as much as your updated KIT but I'd like to vent some frustrating considerations here hoping you do not mind.
      As you I also like the WPL brand for some reasons: I purchased their B16 trucks both RTR and KIT versions. Admittedly their RTR version is barely above a toy while their KIT version almost a true RC, but as soon as you turn on either of these basic trucks, you see their headlights blinking and you're hooked.
      You start to make them run straight away, although after a short time you discover some of their limits or they faults...
      Thereafter you find a great support by WPL in producing many interesting upgrades to bring their RC to a more powerful and reliable level, and you start toiling in this hobby.
      On the other side this HG P-407 out of the box looks impressive, with all its metal parts, and I'm sure it is a very good base to develop something quite interesting and enjoyable, but as I turned it on and try to control it I was so much disappointed. I was expecting at least to be able to move it around the house, but there was no way to turn right, or to turn left, or to control the reverse or forward speed.
      A lot of lags from the radio and from the absurd steering system.
      When I turn it on I also hear some servo noise even without touching the transmitter. Of this RTR I will swap all the electronics: as it is now you cannot drive it anywhere!
      Possibly it's a faulty one: I disassembled both axles to lock the differentials and as I told you I ruined a couple of their screws that were glued and now I know why they used the red loctite on them! Possibly they run short of the proper screws and used instead of the M2*8 the M2*6 they had on their benches, and since they were not running to the full threaded holes, they glued them and Amen.
      HG is now producing some more costly but original and impressive models, but this clone to me looks like they were just practicing their manufacturers' skills learning from those who were their model (Tamiya)...
      Wow, this was a very long rant: sorry for that!
      For sure I would like to see you more with this Bruiser on the workbench and on the trails...
      Cheers
