This is like a dream 8inch android tablet, but already bought a Samsung galaxy tab S9+ recently. It's really nice seeing android tablets being taken more seriously by more manufacturers and the 8inch form factor has been forgotten about even thou it's amazing for portability.
Yes 8 inch is perfect for emulation with ipega gamepad, i have 11 inch tablet and is too heavy with gamepad
your s9+ is unironically better than this tablet for gaming due to the 8gen2, i just enable light mode and framecap it at 60fps and on my s23U it stays cool
Your tablet has an 8th gen2 though. So this isn't a "dream" tablet lol
Your tablet is much better than this. 8 gen 2 is miles better than gen1
Keep in mind all of you that 8 gen 1 is still a powerful proccesor despite being 1 gen behind the 8 gen 2
I wish we had more decent quality Android tablets. I don't want an iPad. I love seeing stuff like this
Same here, amazon tablets won't scratch my itches
@@estroaye Samsung has a humongous tablet lol
talking about Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
Samsung makes fantastic tablets, but I wish they would make a Galaxy Tab S9e.
check out oneplus pad
Oh, the timing. I've been agonizing over ordering this tablet for a month, scouring the tubes and webs for reviews. I almost bought a Samsung 9, but I really wanted something smaller. ETA's review of the previous y700 model from last year was great, but I thought I should wait to see if he reviewed the 2023 model... so I just ordered one. Thanks, ETA.
If you were looking for a smaller tablet, may I ask why you deciding between the 9+ and this instead of the regular 9? It’s considerably smaller.
@@sloppynyuszi Oops, thanks! That was a brain fluff. I meant the 9, not the 9+. Edited.
@@waltwright84 they both great tablets 😎
@@iwearLingerie it’s honestly dependent on how you use it, what eco system you are in, and what your priorities are.
Android still missing a ton of art apps. Especially for vector art, and if you invested in the Adobe system the iPad is the better tablet. Although I don’t think tablets are the best editing devices, the full Davinci Resolve editing suite is on iPad, not Android (personally I like LumaFusion better, and that’s on both).
For Tablet it’s really between iPad or a Windows device. Because for every argument where the Android beats iPad, Windows does better, and everywhere where Android beats Windows, iOS does better. I mean educate me what does Android have that neither Windows or iPad OS has?
I’m rocking a surface pro and an iPad Pro, I don’t know what an Android device can do that neither of my tablets can.
Android devices are getting a lot better for sure, and I can see why someone in that eco system would choose it over an iPad, but Android is a more obvious alternative in phones not tablet.
@@iwearLingerie look at your comment. Where are you not mentioning the tab 9? 🤦♂️
You are among the very few youtubers who explores desktop mode. Would be nice if you could also do it for devices that don't have it as an oem dedicated option, but can use the Android developer mode switch.
FYI, This is the Legion Go Screen.
You mean it is using the same screen from Legion Go?
Oh it definitely is
It's not exactly the same screen, but it's likely nearly identical. The Go screen will be native landscape while this one is native portrait (the orientation of the pixels is different).
@@will3641actually it’s the other way around since this tablet was released way before the legion go was announced
@@ronyfozoonmehr2846it better since it will be running Windows instead of Android.
This reminds me of my first tablet ever, Samsung Galaxy Tab pro 8.4. Perfect hardware for that time, sadly Samsung messed up badly with updates, god bless XDA and Cyanogen/Lineage
We don't speak about touch wiz
I own and still have the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, which is basically like the Tab Pro but with AMOLED. This tablet still slaps even in 2023. Pictures and video content look freaking amazing on that AMOLED display. The only way to make do with the sluggish performance is by flashing Lineage 14. There is LOS17 but it slows the tablet down.
I miss my Tab Pro 8.4. Gorgeous screen, great performance, perfect form factor. Unfortunately the kids wrecked it. This looks like it might be a worthy replacement
Hi, thanks for this review dear ETA, just ordered on Giztop, it will finally replace my ipad mini 6. Delivering planed next week, can't wait ^^
Definitely buying this for sure! 8.8inch portability! Power! Just wow ❤❤😊
Thanks @ETA for the review i have just ordered one a few days ago. I will be reviewing this tablet in a Metal shell case that has been made specifically for the tablet. If your interested ETA i can link you up with the shell case link :)
Wow amazing
Congrats on such quality content
Keep up the great work
ive been waiting for this review for a while !
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. This is exactly what I was looking for
I had the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.4 back in the day. It's still in a drawer somewhere. I loved the screen and form factor but this was in a period of horrible update policies for Samsung so I rooted and flashed roms for a while until I got out of doing that kind of stuff. For me 8 inch tablets are perfect, 16:9 tablets are the perfect form factor. Easy to reach in games and no black bars on 99% of media. I have my eye on this.
But not sure if I'd use it. I traded an S6 (none lite) to upgrade to a Z Fold when it released last year. I miss microSD cards though.
Awesome review! Probably getting this on November or December
Looks like a great day to day tablet you can take and use anywhere... only niggle is that it probably could do with higher brightness for outdoor use. Still a super tablet, Lenono doing some decent moves.
Can't wait for next video. I just picked one up. Hopefully it doesn't take too long to get here. By the way, love your videos thanks for all the content and enjoyment. I get out of them!
I just used it for 2 days and this tablet awesome...compact but but powerfull. Btw, I'm still waiting for your video about the desktop mode capability, and please add some tutorial to use it as ps emulator...
I was about to get this tablet but then i saw the AYN Odin 2 and i had to pledge on that!
I just wish the Odin or this tablet had a 7" screen, personally i think it is the sweetspot for hadheld gaming...
I'm waiting for the followup video as well, but he did do a video on last year's model that includes desktop mode. Just search this channel for Y700 tablet. I suspect that video will apply to this year's model as well. I did purchase this and am setting up for emulation.
Good review as always. Does this tablet support LDAC bluetooth music playback? Please kindly confirm
This is the tablet I've been waiting for!
Damn! This could be my next tablet. Can't wait to see more testing on emulation.
Looking incredible.
Legion baby!
I hope you get the opportunity to review the honor magic v2, looks fantastic and still manages to hold a power house
Please test It with some telescopic controllers in the next vídeo! Would love a Review of the D8 gamepad
Good video. Does this have pc mode like the previous model ?
Thanks for the video. Do you know if this will include a keyboard?
I'm seeing all these tablets but I'm honestly just going to wait for red magics new tablet
Picked my 2023 Y700 a month ago! This things a powerhouse for a smaller tablet
Do you still like it?
you always have the coolest wallpapers
I have my over 8 years old still good laptop and my new over 1 year old Lenovo Legion Pc so I can say I am a Lenovofan and im really hyped there's Lenovo tablets too, that Lenovo Legion y700 looks really beautiful and powerful. By the way would you make a video about new Lenovo legion go handheld gaming pc? 🔥🔥
I would have probably gotten this instead of the Tab S9, really like the 8-inch factor.
Does this support "second screen" mode, like Samsung? I use it as an additional monitor when paired with my work laptop.
Hi thank you for the info on the tablet really helpful. I want to ask what kind of adaptor did you use for your PC mode to HDMI? thanks
Thanks you for your review.
I just found your old review of the last Y700.
Unfortunattely Lenovo dont update it so much.
What about battery time last?
What about overcloking on emulation ?
Thanks
I would VERY much like to see the Desktop mode explored in more depth!
The only thing this tablet lack was a SIM card support
😔
That and a worldwide release
And a 3.5mm Headphone jack.
@@UpperCumberlandGamers yeah the lack of a headphone jack on something this size sucks
@@nickwillard4471 i careless about the headphone jack. For a big device like that i will recommend you to used wireless headphone.
3:25 SoC model SM4875(snapdragon 8 + gen1)
For info, widevine L1 isn't enough for Netflix HD unlocking, they not only require L1 but also to whitelist the device model itself for that to happen and this is where Netflix android app falls appart, even common Samsung devices are sometime not listed despite L1 support. Many people buy phones and tablet thinking L1 will be enough to discover Netflix doesn't support it in the end.
Good thing Netflix is relatively niche now. It's actually difficult to find people in the real world who have Netflix (in contrast to how EVERYONE had it a decade ago). Netflix is very easy to live without these days. Every other service (currently) works in HD.
Great video. Couple of things you didn’t touch on. Did you have to import it from china? Also how do you get the emulation onto it?
I thought the Tab S9+ was the best tablet on the market, but I guess it really comes down to preference at this point.🤷🏿♂️ You should review the Red Magic Gaming Tablet if you can ever get your hands on it.
I want a portable display with these specs. 144Hz, 2560... Only thing that would make it better is micro LED or OLED.
I don't know how I missed this tablet. This is the one I've been looking for!
Great review here, i liked it alot. But i wonder what kind of rom is installed on tablet, the China one or the Global? Thank you in advance for your answear, you did a great work with this video.
Defo want to see Switch and 3DS running, along with a bit of Cloud Gaming.
oh man this size is awesome for a tablet, i would loooove to try and get linux running on something like that.
Cant wait to get one of these and strap it to my G8 Galileo. With my 3080 gaming PC and Moonlight ill have my gaming PC in my hands. So excited.
How is the temperature going for this model? For those tested games, how long have you been playing them? I did see that the temps were excellent in all of them with less than 40 degrees. I owned the 2022 model and it was doing fine with temps but not that great with extended runs. Great review as always tho, cheers!
It has Bluetooth 5.2 and you said Bluetooth 5.1
LooL
I love you bro, love your videos and i loooove your intro music ❤
Thanks again!
Question: does DRM content work in desktop mode work? Eg Disney+ or Netflix.
Had mine for just over 2 weeks, absolutely love it
How did you install Google play services and Google play store. Can you point me to the guide or video please.
Just wait until they promise to update it and watch it become a paperweight because Lenovo is a shit company
Does this tablet support LDAC bluetooth or just standard bluetooth when playing music? Please kindly reply
@@avakil007 I can't seem to a post to the download I use? The comment won't post?
@@thelunchbox420xI mean it's not unusable if it doesn't get an update, so the comment about it being a paperweight makes no sense
nice vid eta prime
Looks perfect to me, I'm not into pads due to its weight. Can't wait to buy this tab❤
Watching on the 1st get Y700, great little tablet.
Love this - but where to buy this in the UK!? (from an official retailer)
A perfect emulation machine and game streaming 😮
@ ETA PRIME I'm definately interested in this tablet. Was wondering how Citra would work with second screen option when 3ds is emulated. Can you use the tablet as the "lower screen with touch" and your tv as the mainscreen?
If Citra supports it I don't think it'll be an issue.
Hey there ETAprime, quick question. Does it support video in?
Been lusting after this, wondering when it was gonna be available...
do any of your telescopic controllers fit it?
I bet the display out port with the desktop mode would work really good with the Xreal glasses.
The desktop mode does not look polished at all. I think you'd be better off getting a samsung phone with Dex and use the Xreal glasses with them.
@@raeedibnzaman1 That's what I do now and it is a good experience. I've been wanting a tablet with something similar but Samsung tablets are pretty expensive and the level of performance is acceptable for the price. Looking outside the samsung ecosystem this looks like a good choice.
I have one and I'm really happy with it
Would love to see how non-graphically intensive Steam or Epic store games run via Winlator. I'm thinking games like Prodeus, Streets of Rage 4 and Civilization 4.
Maybe I will finally upgrade my mediapad m5 8.4". Tbh it's still as snappy as when I got it 4 or 5 years ago but a little more juice for emulation would be good.
Lol I used that tablet 5 years ago too, I liked it alot, It was pretty snappy and the speaker was loud and the screen was nice and bright and sharp for the price.
This tablet seems like it would be a great successor to that.
I wish they produce controllers for devices of this size.
Have you checked out 8bitdo?
tip for those who uses aethersx2 the performance overlay on the top right corner specially the fps and speed is color coded and it is as follows
white is full speed/stable
green is boosted frame rate
red is bad performance/unstable
Hello ETA Prime, can you try a game with winlator in desktop mode? 🙏🏿
are they going to update the old model with android 13 and other SW features? thanks for your efforts
What screen overlay monitoring app are you using on this video?
Lenovo Legion Y700 2023 is using SD 8+ Gen 1 (TSMC) instead of the regular 8 Gen 1 (Samsung).
Edit: Yeah, upon researching. It is definitely using Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. Please make a correction in the video as there is a huge difference between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 which was manufactured by Samsung and had inefficient thermal chipset compared to the updated Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 which is manufactured by TSMC which has better thermals. The 8 Plus Gen 1 also has higher clock and better performance than 8 Gen 1. Both are using 4nm process node though. So, please do make a erratum regarding this video as I've always been following this channel for tech news, gaming, etc. Wouldn't want the viewers to get misinformation.
Yes, Im currently using it so you are absolutely right
This is really a crucial information needed to pass on to viewers. I have no experience of said soc's but I did experience SD 888 - manufactured by Samsung and SD 865 - TSMC. Even though 888 is newer and suppose to be better in every way, 865 is easily better by having way better thermals.
oh lol just as I typed my comment I come across yours xD
Would this matter for users who only intend to run apps like TH-cam and chrome?
@@Miguel-Delno lol
Thanks for the video! Is it possible to attach on this table a gamesir X2 pro gamepad?
A heads up - the last version of this had issues. PS5 controller didn't work and a few months of just bad patches. Be aware that getting these tablets comes with issues at times, but they run amazing when you get them.
That's why I skipped the previous model.
How about on productivity mode using PowerPoint presentation. Please stretch a little for productivity side of this already better tablet. Thank you!
Can you order this in the US? Or still sold by Giztop?
nice review, can you test wild rift max settings 120fps on aram game to test performance?
Hey does it comes with original sealed from giztop?
Would you recommend tgis over say the Samsung tab S9 or S8? I am worried about updates and support. Do they recieve updates often?
i've been staring at that starfield controller more than the tablet when it pooped up XD
For me the 8inch to 9inch form factor is the perfect one. I don't even take it outside I just think 10inch is just too uncomfortable
Waiting for your Productivity Mode...
It's a shame that this SOC doesn't support AV1. With Dolby vision, which is a nice touch, it would also have been nice to have the full set with HDR10+.
I mean, it very obviously supports it. Think about what you're saying. 😂 There's just no hardware decoding. That SoC is very capable of decoding AV1 in software.
does this fit in any of the telescopic game controllers? Razer Kishi, gamesir, etc?
Thanks for the video! Question, how do you guys play with that tablet? Android games ? Xbox games pass ? Steam ? Emulation? In this latter case is it easy to find the games ?
In general with Android (phones and tablets) I do paid Android games from the Play Store and emulation of things/genres I can't buy. I used to do a decent amount of streaming with Stadia; but, after it went under I haven't bothered with streaming since. A lot of people do though using Gamepass or G-Force Now.
Can you please show what webpage content looks like on this device? Visiting websites and browsing the web, and more importantly, what TH-cam looks like on this device. Portrait mode, landscape mode.
Hey ETA, Does it have a bypass charging capability? Great content man
What is that feature? I never heard of it.
Thanks.
@@JasonJrakewhen it's enabled, the system is directly powered by the charger when plugged in. It's meant to prevent overheating from the system drawing high power from the battery and the battery being charged at the same time
It has this option
What app do you use to get those cool live wallpapers ?
Same
Dude probably does it himself by coding.
Is this too big for a telescopic controller? Specifically the Gamesir X2?
This needs a split controller ftw
So is this one getting an official release in the west? The old y700 was china only and the English language setting on this was spotty.
Did you try Genshin Impact on Desktop Mode if it works with the keyboard and mouse?
If , possible, could you make a video comparing the 2022 version vs 2023 version of lenovo legion y700?
I too would appreciate that now that I have both. I seen a few things with older one that is missing on the new one like dual charger and PC mode.
Would you say recommend buying the older version for 100€ less?
This might be my go to!! Wanted something mid grade that was more than the Tab A8
I read that the Tab A9 will be announced soon. Maybe keep your eyes peeled for that before ordering. Up to you!
@@Miguel-Del I’ve got my eyes on a few things. But that’s good to know, thanks!!
Sure thing! I read this morning that October 5th is the leaked date for the Galaxy Tab A9 reveal, according to Amazon India. The A9 should be the same size as the S7 Lite, and the A9+ will be the higher specced successor to the Tab A8. I hope to god these tablets aren't shit, because I really want something like the Y700 running OneUi. I might have to keep dreaming though.@@oakridgereview1359
Watching this on my last year Y700
Perfect for gaming of course
Also one hand reading and watching videos while laying down on bed without the fear of large screen fall on your face
how is the software update for the last year model? Is there any?
Still rocking my s8 ultra for 500 last year
does it support 120hz 1080p over hdmi to external monitor???
Do you think this will be able to smoothly emulate 3DS games using Citra Emulator?
8" is the sweet spot for a tablet.
100% agree. I also like 9 inch tablets but anything bigger is just cumbersome. If I'm going to bring a screen that big around I'll just bring my laptop
Will this ips be good for Netflix/ movie and series streaming streaming?
Hello !
Is it possible to buy this tablet just as a TV STB?
{including 2 USB-C ports with power bypass}
Including for connecting external exFAT/NTFS drives, download the video. and so on
.
lenovo answered my prayers after all these years... a packed system under 9 inches!!! now i would need to find people who reviews the pen for this!
Keep an eye on Brad Colbow, Lisa on Mobiletech and TeohonTech. They usually get their hands on these and do a proper pen test with pressure test and the notorious slow diagonal line test 😉
