Yay! You finally got a Y700! Stoked to see this finally get reviewed here
Yes I had a lot of requests for it but decided to get this updated one.
There you go! I've been waiting for this review.
Hope you like it!
BTW, have you tried the PC mode on this one?
If only it had cellular and fingerprint sensor. I want a large phone.
I wonder how many years we have to wait. There has not been any big phones available for several years. Foldables are not in the level of Xiaomi Mi Max series.
Mee too
Same here. Would be like my new Huawei mate X or Mi Max.
I would love for them to bring it back but apparently not happening. Xiaomi is not interested and thinks the market doesn't want it. I would love another Max phone.
@@TechtabletsMe too would love a Mi MAx variant 🙏🤍.
Fantastic review once again Chris! After all of these years, your format and delivery is still flawless. Great to see you still killing it man.
Thank you!
I'm using the previous model and now I'm thinking of updating it. Thank you for the video
Glad it was helpful!
Just passing by to say thanks and to praise the quality of your review. Best in class, as usual.
Glad you like them!
This looks amazing, been wanting a high end 8" android tablet for years now.
8.8 is as small as it gets bro.
Well this is the one.
I already have the 2022 which is great but I just ordered this new model because of the Gen1 giving a significant boost. Please keep reviewing these style 8.8 tablets as they are the best for gaming and travel.
I received mine yesterday and it is amazing!!!
Excellent video covered everything I needed to know.
Great review. I might have missed it but what model/model number is the pen that you received with this and how does it charge? Having a very hard time finding exactly what pen to order and there are many reports that most pens do not work with this tablet.
A small Android tablet that's very good for gaming is definitely rare! This is indeed a great option from Lenovo! The second type c is a reasonable work around for losing the 3.5mm jack👍.
Very nice small tablet!
Good one Sir Chris🙂✌👌
Totally agree! They were wise to include the second type c.
The asus rog phones have 2 usb c ports, 6,000 mah battery with each battery being split into 3,000 mah each and a headphone jack with a built in hifi dac but this Lenovo legion does not even have a headphone jack. Asus removed the headphone jack on the asus rog 3 and brought back the headphone jack back on the asus rog 5 and even the rog 7 has the headphone jack. Sony removed the headphone jack on there older sony phones but brought the headphone jack on there newer phones. Manufacturers can easily have the headphone jack but choose to sell e-waste and inferior quality bluetooth headphones instead of including a headphone jack. I already have headphones with a 3.5mm port so I don't need to buy usb c headphones that work with other devices that I have with a usb c port for audio. I have other devices that have a usb c port but they only support charging with no audio support even with usb c or plugging into an android phone with usb c but no audio support or over usb c. Usb c over audio and video are still fragmented. For example, certain usb c devices ports only support charging but no audio from the usb c port and certain devices that have usb c don't even support video output. The pixel devices don't support video output from the usb c port so you have to use a chrome cast device. However, a chrome cast device is useless for locations that don't have wifi or with a very spotty coverage for mobile data so that's when a wired connection comes in handy plus a wired connection has 0 latency just liked wired headphones and 0 latency with any wired audio device.
True and as I said in this video I wish we had it. But since there is that second type-c port I think it's not a deal breaker now at least.
@@Techtablets I wish all the manufacturers made all the features that usb c is capable of doing make usb c compatible with all the features like usb c over audio and usb c over video since the usb c port is still fragmented and needs to be fixed among all usb c devices. Batteries cases for android phones only support charging since data transferring and audio over the usb c port still does not work when I tried it on batteries cases. The battery cases already have over charge protection built in.
@@OledBurnInKing I understand you. If this is a normal everyday tablet, I can use the second USB-C port as a 3.5mm adapter. But for a gaming-centric tablet, removing the headphone jack is not a wise idea. No gamers use wireless headphones because they know it produce latency.
Which one of Lenovo's stylus does it support? Thanks
Would be great if you can make a review on those dex mode for those device such as lenovo, moto, samsung, red magic and etc....
Thanks - great review 👍
Man I really have been wanting for Samsung to introduce a small flagship tablet with a great and bright screen which is also 10 bit
This is just about the closest thing we got to a direct Apple iPad mini competitor. It still baffles me on why Samsung won't make a Tab S9 mini and instead make a Z Fold. I see a lot of people who much prefer to have a small-sized tablet instead of a foldable phone.
I also don't understand why Samsung didn't make an 8-inch Tab S9 Mini.
@@Techtablets Samsung always want to bill the Z Fold as tablet replacement, which never always been the case. Tablets don't have a square-ish screen to begin with.
S9 mini would be killer!
Their fold still in a patent. It will cost more than a tab. They will start producing mini again when the patent end.
The last mini Flagship galaxy tab samsung released absolutely sucked lol I think they just gave up because ipad mini was dominating the market
Great review
Does this tablet support LDAC (bluetooth). Please kindly confirm
I just recently upgraded my Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2020 to S9+ but if Chris uploads a new tablet video, auto view and like! Really interesting tablet, reminds me of my first tablet (the old Xiaomi 8in) which I bought due to your reviews :D
S9+ plus is great I have the S9 Ultgra now. But it was silly upgrading to it from the S8 Ultra. Oh the old Xiaomi 8-inch tablets where good.
I have Legion Y700 2022. So far I love it, I did get a software update to upgrade the Android version from 11 to 12.
That's good to know you got the update I didn't for the XiaXin Pad Pro.
is xiaoxin pad pro 2023 will receive software upgrade?
How do you charge the stylus since its magnetic? Legitimate question. My lenovo precision pen 2 cant pair with my CN ROM on ZUI 15
Next time when testing the stylus try quick diagonal strokes and slow ones too. Poor quality pens will give a wobbly line when going diagonal. This one looked fine when I zoomed in.
Lovely Great quality review thank you.
Thanks for watching!
what model of stylus u use? got link? i bought lenovo precision pen 2 2023 version.not working at all
Does it support screen recording with both system and mic sound at the same time?
this video is great! I hope you can also review its keyboard when available.
Chris - Did your come with the original ROM or some Global Rom to have English?
Hello! What is the pen you are using with this tablet?
For me the sweet spot is around 8inch. I loved my LG Pad and the Google Nexus 7". This is great!
Thanks for sharing
That's what she said
Hey i have questions about lenovo legion y700 gaming tablet 2023 does it comes with original sealed?
Hi, im a bit late but do you suggest this tablet still? im planning to buy a tablet I can use for work (simple work) and also gaming. Thank you
Reminds me of my galaxy tab A, the spen go inside the tablet. My last 2 semester at uni was amazing with that tab.
I wonder why Samsung stopped that tab
Only 350 buckks
Hey chris, i just bought this tablet. Have you tried using sd card with this, did you encounter any issue?
What's the wifi performance like? Is it good enough for moonlight streaming at 100mbit stream rate?
Even using last year gen processor still has quite the punch in it, wish this had a Oled display instead of IPS LCD display, this reminds me of Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 😻
OLED would have been great yes, but not a bad 144hz IPS.
@@Techtablets oh cool
@@spiderpig1736 500nits peak on this. I measured 438 nits max. Still very good it's not like you're going to be gaming in the sunshine directly.
Thanks god it has IPS and not OLED.
Oled kills your eyes. Had to return a samsung s23ultra because of that.
So i am glad is IPS...gentle ro your eyes...
Hi. Thanks to excelent video!
Is it China ROM?
Stylus pen is going well with OneNote?
Is stylus Pen AP500U?
I'm beginner of china tablet.
Best regards,
An ideal size dimensions for tablets, but still powerfull. Not liking most latest tablets nowadays. Where the size dimensions get big with the improves specs
A bit late to ask, but does it have a gorilla glass type screen, and/or is there a pre-applied screen protector.
Excellent review as usual, thank you so much
My question is the tablet support bypass charging cause this is a gaming device, you can find this feature in the game center while gaming
Also, I wished you gave a walkthrough for the game center to get a look on the features and setting options
Thank you again
Yes it does. And the battery option it will too charging at 50% and only use the power from the charger nit the battery.
I want this on every tablet, laptop and it would be a nice option on phones as well.@@Techtablets
Is the ips screen a disadvantage? Isnt the led screen much better ?
Snappy performance and that nice fast screen.. I'd say what i like the best. Very nice little tablet.. a tad pricey.. but if its reliable i could justify that. Seems like a great day to day tablet...but a shame the outdoor brightness isn't that good though.
finally a tablet with specs i've been asking for for years!!!
Yeah good specs and smaller size to it.
@@TechtabletsI wished it haved the snap dragon gen 2 because this size is perfect for me
will this one come to eu? i have the 2022 one and had to buy it through giztop but its not true english
This looks great thanks bro
No problem
A very interesting tablet. Love the size.. good review
does this have a under display finger print unlock or side fingerprint unlock?
What phone would you recommend with similar specs to this?
just upgraded to this from 2022. 2022 was not disappointing
Is the bypass charging feature used to play games safe?
I have the previous model and it's amazing
Is the charge protection similar to bypass charging?
I really want to buy this, but will wait for the next version. Good on Lenovo for producing a smaller sized tablet.
Yea I'll wait for it too praying for a global release
comparing this tablet against xiaomi pad 6 pro, which one will you recommend?
does the pen support the thinkboom yoga 14s?
which pen stylus that support this device? for drawing
is it possible to float a window or splitscreen with the settings open in this devicr?
Is this the same screen as the Lenovo Legion Go Handheld that was just announced? Same 8'8 screen, same 2560 x 1600 144hz IPS Screen.
Yes it's the same screen. Same size, IPS, and same res.
Can someone pls tell me whether I sould buy Xiaomi pad6 pro or Lenovo legion y700 2023 if I'm intersted in gaming and digital drawing.
Is this tab compatible for OBS Streaming?
Where can i purchase one? Hard to find w trustworthy site or seller on ebay
Wish I found this one prior to me buying the MiPad, the size alone is good!
Finally a good 8inch android tablet! been waiting for samsung to do a s9 mini for a long time but seems that they want us to b uy the fold5 for that. (the s6 lite is not good enough)
Hi I'm new to your channel but can I ask cause I'm really curious about the tablets temperature in intense Gaming? Does it has any issues or heating issues?
It gets warm/hot around 46 degrees C but no real throttling happening.
man I hope the next version have speakers on that bezel like SHIELD Tablet K1
Man if tab s9 had an 8inch model I'd get it, but i got the y700 2022 model, not the best ui but good enough for my usage
Yes it's nothing amazing ZUI but it's at least usable.
Thank you so much for this review. I've been looking and waiting for a video that showcases the stylus. I'm looking to get this tablet to do app development and a little art while on the go. Preferably Nomad sculpt. If you are ever throwing a give away for this tablet sign me up. 😁 Thanks again
I have a feeling that this is the same screen that will be in Legion Go
did they release global rom this time?
Hope you can also review the new Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7" 2023.
I hope so to!
Does this support display out?
It's such a great small-size tablet!
I really wanted a tip for a good tablet to draw on, other than just sketches, whether I should get an Android, Ipad or just buy a drawing tablet for PC
maybe u can help me with this i dont know how to change the language on legion zone to english do u know how to do that?
I have the first gen and will probably buy this one too. I'm glad to see they made a new version, but I really want Google to make a small 8" tablet. For the record, I did get Android 12 on both of my Chinese market Lenovo tablets (Legion Y700 and XiaoXin Pad Pro 2021).
Okay so there is some hope it will get Android 14. I've just felt in the past their updates are very fewer and far between updates. Not exactly the greatest. But so far no bugs and great performance.
@@Techtabletsno one talks about how Lenovo just silently pushes updates back. I have a P11 pro Gen 2 and it's been 8 months waiting for Android 13. Don't recommend this company without saying it's support sucks.
@@thelunchbox420x That's true they are not good with the updates (as mentioned) I don't understand why some got updates and others did not. Either region or locked down ROM that has OTA disabled?
@@Techtablets I haven't got Android 13 on either of the tablets in question, which would be nice since Lenovo has a nice dock which will probably work well with the Android 13 implementation. The Android 12 update actually botched a couple of things on my Y700. League of Legends: Wild Rift is unplayable with an issue Riot is aware of, but is not fixing any time soon. Also I have some weird Play Store issues. It's like 95% fine, but 2 things I use; Wild Rift and my Solid Explorer purchases cannot be restored are broken. On a more positive note... The Android 12 update for the Y700 added pen support.
EDIT: Also, the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2021 had no negative effects from the Android 12 update.
Samsung needs the get rid of the +, keep the standard and offer a mini
does anyone know where I can get this without having to make an account to yet another purchase?
Not bad for the price at all, add one of those telescopic controllers and you have a nice gaming tablet. I already have a tab s9+ or I would probably get one.
How do you get everything in English. All my internet display is in Chinese?
Hi, may i know which stylus pen you use in this review clip? I try to find but quite confuse among the forum.. about compatibility of precision pen 2 or others
The lenovo pencil.
@techtablets your answer is useless, there are dozens of Lenovo pencils!
Does Lenovo tablet receive android security updates?
I finally got mine. Excellent tablet and the perfect size. A little bit of a plain getting Google Play Store installed, but once I figured it out, I got all my apps installed. No regrets whatsoever.
Thanks for sharing. You got any tips for others on the Google play install?
@@TechtabletsThe tablet actually already has GMS build in you just have to enable it. To enable go to setttings->apps->three dots on top right->click on Google basic services-> enable.
@@TechtabletsI have purchased a xiaoxin pad pro 12.7 and it came with a Google play installation video and it was surprisingly easy to do
@@Techtabletscan you do Roblox for me because I mostly play that I’m planning on getting it
Android 11 ? No upgrade ?
Does it support Backbone One controller?
Looks to be a good upgrade over the 2022 model. Can confirm that that one never got beyond Android 12. Hopefully, this new model fixes some of the software issues I was having with the 2022 one. It would occasionally hang during unlocking and when trying to drag to select multiple pictures in the gallery app, as well as holding down on a link to open it in a new tab.
With the latter bug, it gets stuck with ghost of those grouped pictures or the menu floating there. Can't tap on anything else, just use navigation gestures. It only goes away with a reboot, which is a problem when you can't tap the reboot option. Have to set the auto-shutoff in settings to the next minute while in the desktop environment environment using only your keyboard and enter key.
Not sure if that bug is still around since the most recent update because I've been using my Tab S9 more. It is tempting to get this to try out, despite not being able to attach the stylus to the back and not having a fingerprint reader. I miss having a smaller tablet. Even the Tab S9 is too big for my liking.
Thanks for confirming that, other models where the same pushed back upgrades or never getting them just bug fixes. I've not experianced that bug yet using it.
@WaffleusRex I would like to ask you a few things about the 2022 Y700. After the Android 12 update, did you have problems signing into your google play account? A lot of people had to download apk files for google play to work after the Android 12 (ZUI 14) updates. Do you know if there was any fix to this problem without the use of apk files?
@@renyama8524 When I bought it, it already had Android 12. Didn't have any issues signing into my accounts.
This is what tablet I'm looking for. Now I need to find the controller type C for this one
Can run all emulators included switch?
Nice insights sir.. please review or compare with 8.4" Alldocuble iplay50 mini Pro with G99 chipset.. thanks
This is far more powerful than that model. I want to review the iPlay 50 Mini Pro but they will not send me one.
Could you do a review alldocube mini?
A few questions
1) I guess it does not have GPS
2) For the USB, are they both USB3.2?
can I charge from either USB port
What output power does the USB have (can I use a 6Watt device on either port ?, or is it limited to 4Watts)
Can I charge on one port while using the other?
is the pen wacom tech? great video by the way... this tablet is perfect for me
Hi, it's not WACOM tech. Using a battery within charges via Type-C.
does it have bypass charging??
Exactly what im looking for. I have a Tab s8 but i find it a bit big when not using it for media. Unfortunately, I keep my tablets for at least 4 years and won't buy a device that doesn't get software support for at least 3 years. Too bad, Lenovo.
Does this tablet work with the native GeForce now?
wish they made an oled version. love this size
Wish they won'made, OLED degrades just by sitting in a box. I keep my tablets a long time.
I have the 2022 version from giztop but no update option anyone know why.
I think they are using this exact display for their upcoming Legion GO Windows handheld. Good display but no VRR.
Yes the same display, same size and spec it has to be it. It's a decent IPS. And that Go handheld looks great.
Can anyone try intune company portal in this device? Is it supported?
A pity that it still isn't being sold in my country. Seems like a great tablet with the exact size I wanted.
How does the screen compare in brightness to the older version? There's no way the screen of the older version is below 500 nits. It's so bright. It's brighter than any of my phones even at 2two thirds brightness. I really hope they didn't dim down the most vibrant LCD ever put into a tablet.
I'm leaning towards getting one of these since there seem to be no other competing Android tablets in this smaller size. One of my use cases is Nintendo DS and 3DS emulation with an attached telescopic controller... doesn't that sound ideal in portrait mode??? I can't wait.
That does sound like the perfect use for it!
Ahh yes video game piracy 🤮
@@iwearLingerie The DS/3DS are dead and unsupported so I dumped my own ROMs, but full points for assuming the worst of someone you don't know.
@waltwright84 digital piracy is digital piracy 💀 no excuses
@waltwright84 Don't argue with these nincompoops
If this has good battery life and it looks good and comfy on the hands, I'd get it as my first tablet.
