I love my Fire HD10 tablet and it's an absolute steal for 55-60$ Certified refurbished device (I bought four already, for my family members and all were in "like new" condition). To be honest the more expensive this kind of content consuming device gets, the less attractive it becomes. Maybe I'll grab it in year or two for 130$ refurbished, but for now 230$ purchase feels unnecessary for what it does, at least for me personally.

I really want the productivity bundle but I donlt think it is worth $320, also I am pretty sire you can no longer disable fire launcher or amazon processes, my fire HD 8 got updated and it sucks now, the work arounds are terrible , on is lsow and buggy and the other is ok but it does not survive rebbot ,If I am going to spend $320 I rather get a chinese tbalet and be able to use nova on it.
I have had this tablet for a couple weeks. I can say that I have tested a good amount of ps2 games and they run great. Some even upscaled. There are some that I could not get to run. Like Smackdown here comes the pain. But the Warriors, wwe all Stars, max Payne, legends of wrestling, def jam fight for new York, scarface all worked. Psp games really shine on this tablet. God of War, ufc 2010, wwe smackdown vs raw games, fight night round 3, etc... dreamcast ran good too.

At this price I feel you're better off buying a pre-owned Galaxy Tab S7. Your security updates are going to run out more quickly, but your performance and form factor are better. I picked up a "blemished" Tab S7 last year off of eBay for $175. It has an almost unnoticeable amount of backlight bleed, which was why it was refurbed. The performance is incredible, and performance tests of both tabs show the S7 markedly better. Just my two cents, but that's the route I'd go. I use my Tab S7 every day, and its integration with my phone makes it even better.
I just ordered one today, July 10th. For Amazon Prime day I got the tablet, keyboard and kickstand, and the stylus for $250usd. The Fire 11 just the tablet is $189. Note, you need to be a Prime member. Looking forward to trying mine out.
This tablet got me excited because I have a nice computer but sometimes I want to just sit on the porch and play some PlayStation 2 games. Also I work in the tech industry and get a killer discount.
I just purchased my first Chinese retro emulation handheld a few hours ago. It's the $20 Data Frog SF2000. I knew about it a few months ago from Sonic Love Emulation. Then I saw TechDweeb talk about it recently and then I went, why the hell not? I'm a cheap MFER when it comes to gaming. I mean, why are some of us into retro emulation? To download FREE games! I swore to never buy one of these since I already have an Essential Phone, Pixel 3, Razr 5G, Galaxy Z Flip 3, modded PSP slim, and modded Vita slim to emulate all those old games. And I nearly got the Razr+ today. TechDweeb and his nerdy, nasal voice got me convinced. If it sucks, I'll just gift it to my nephews in the Philippines. They make perfect Kris Kringle gifts. I figured I wanted this because I love the SNES controller so much and I needed a backup to my Vita and PSP in case their buttons starts wearing off. A lot of old games, there's tons of button mashing. The Data Frog has a really nice form factor that I prefer over $60+ ones. I could easily just get an Abernic or Miyoo Mini Plus. But why spend 3-5x more and I have smartphones more powerful than them? Plus, I'm not the biggest fan of portrait handhelds. Miyoo Mini would start feeling cramped. I prefer landscape handhelds. With a bad economy, it's all about being as frugal as we can. ROG Ally might be better than a Steam Deck, but I'll get the cheapest Deck to save $200-$300. I think the SF2000 is going to be fun. It's a cheap handheld you can throw in a bag and not care if it breaks. I'm aware it's not great with SNES and GBA emulation. I'm fine with that. NES, Genesis, and MAME are good enough for me! I'm going to play a lot of Street Fighter II': Special Champion's Edition on the thing. I mean, ETA Prime paid $15 to get that McNugget handheld that had only Tetris. SF2000 seems way better than that.
This was very tempting. i almost pulled the trigger on buying this tablet. I need a stylus with a tablet to be productive. However, Amazon tablets just don’t work for me day to day. Especially since I canceled Amazon prime. I found a good deal on a surface go refurbished from Microsoft store around the same price if anyone is in the same boat as me.
I want a good n100 windows tablet. Even tho I just use my android tablet as a streaming and reading device. Is slow and widws gives me more software options.
I like this direction for the Amazon Fire tablets. Now we need to see more productivity applications. With the stylus support, it could benefit from a killer drawing app like Procreate. Plus, there are things like Lightroom. I'm not expecting video editing like on the M1 and M2 iPad Pro, but a good RAW photo editing app would be welcome.

I appreciate this review and I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming emulation extravaganza video. Two questions: 1) Does the Fire OS version of Android 11 support Google's gesture navigation? 2) Does this tablet support wired controllers; either OTG for normal stuff or USB PD 2 for my GameSir X2 Pro if I'd ever get the urge to modify it to fit a tablet?
I guess it might be too late now, but just in case... there's no option for gesture navigation in the settings, but you can enable it through adb. it makes the gesture navbar a weird height, but if you play around with the screen dpi, you can make it the right size. and it does support otg. no video out though. I tried a usb c hub, and it didnt recognize anything.

I'm still not sold on tablets that much. So the cheaper the better for me. All that really matters is a good screen otherwise i'll never use it. But as a portable media player with good battery life and a nice looking screen this seems kind of perfect for me.
would you recommend this over the xiomi redmi pad with 6gb ram? on amazon in US they are the exact same price right now. Performance Wise I think the Xiomi has a tiny bit better? but not to familiar with the new processor in the Fire max 11
The benefit of Amazon products like this is Amazon allows you to pay Monthly WITHOUT the typical APR crap like Affirm. For this tablet, $46 a month for 5 months WITHOUT APR Definitely affordable if you want something like this. Amazon does this for MANY of its own products and others, so its very simple to buy something expensive but for an affordable monthly price without having to pay extra for APR.
To honestly that does not seem like a great deal to me given that the fire 10 can be found for 80 bucks once a month. It has the same chipset, the same amount of RAM and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. By the time you get the keyboard bundle with this one, it's over $300 you might as well just get a Lenovo duet 5, or 3. I feel like the $80 value proposition for the fire 10 is understandable but by the time you're up to $300 plus with the keyboard on this one, you do a lot better with the Chrome OS tablet. That has an OLED screen, keyboard comes in the box, can run Android apps and has a full Chrome OS desktop with proper desktop versions of browsers etc extensions..

Great video. Fire tablets aren't necessarily for everyone. They are great media consumption devices. I wish the app store was a little bit better. That being said, This video has me wanting to upgrade to the new fire max tablet.
This is a good evolutionary step for the Fire tablets. I love the fact that it's pen compatible. Depending on the pen and tablet performance, it could be a great option for people who want to draw or use pens. For gaming, it looks perfectly fine. Would've liked to have seen a bit better performance with Genshin Impact, but it still looks playable. All-in-all, a really solid looking Fire tablet.
From reviews I've seen the pen performance is laggy. In landscape mode it's very easy to accidentally tap the volume buttons while gaming. It's a decent tab, but seems a bit buggy in the software department.

Yeah I agree and losing the headphone jack is a huge deal too. It's such a small port to not include it's honestly ridiculous they didn't. There are many situations where using bluetooth headphones aren't as ideal and frankly I've never found a pair that were as effortlessly comfortable as my many sets of plug in earbuds.
Not having a headphone jack on say a winders tablet or apple, isnt the world's end because adapters and Bluetooth at least works with pretty low lag. Which shoot, the 2021 9th gen ipad even has a headphone jack. Android though? It's still rough. How does someone watch a movie or play a video game seriously with Bluetooth headphones on Android? ESPECIALLY if you use 2.4ghz wifi, or also have a second Bluetooth device plugged up. It's roughly a second lag. Plus USB c adapters may or may not even work. It's why when he said 'all sorts of connectivity ' I'm like wuht? No headphone jack, no native video out. 'sure you could say like the rockfish adapter. But it's compressed'
@@excessmaterial not having 3.5mm jack is not really an issue - USB-C DACs (based on CX31993 chip or similar, I can confirm it works for HD10 at least) only cost 5-10$ and give noticeable boost in quality and volume level. The main issue with Fire Max 11 is price, it's just not worth the extra compared to HD10 (even 2019 model) for it's main functions.
Ur wrong the max 11 is more powerful I have the fire 10 and can't play cod mobile on medium graphics but you can on the fire 11 and it scores higher then a snapdragon 720G n that's a mid grade processor
Err, not sure where you're getting your info, at a google the Fire Max 11 has a new CPU (Mediatek 8188, vs MT8183 in Fire HD 10) and it's WAY more powerful. Geekbench single core (by far the most important benchmark for day to day performance IMO is single core, reason why dual core entry level iPads are fast as hell and trounce low end Android tablets with 8 cores) of almost 700 for the 8188 vs ~300 for the 8173 at least according to google (I actually have a Fire Hd 10 for my security camera 10 feet away, maybe I'll pull it down and geekbench it myself, but would be more trouble if geekbench needs to be sideloaded). So in single core which again I value a lot, the Fire Max 11 is more than double as fast. Multi core was 1929 vs 1360 so also a large increase FWIW. IIRC Amazon only claimed the Fire Max Processor was around 50% faster, so they may have looked at mult core score, graphics, or simply were being conservative. All that being a long way to say yes, the Fire Max 11 has a significantly more powerful chipset LOL. As for RAM I believe the Fire Hd 10 default is 3GB, and IIRC you can get a 4GB version of the Fire HD 10 (called the Fire HD 10 Plus) but it costs more. So the 4GB default of the 11 is a nice bump there too. Fire Max 11 also has aluminum construction rather than plastic according to reviews, also a very nice increase in quality feel IMO. Of course you pay for it, starting at 229 vs 149. I'll be fascinated to see where sales land the Fire Max 11 (I'm expecting 149, but anything lower would be a cherry on top). Still, for the price, as usual, I doubt anything else comes close.
Stardew Valley looks amazing on this tablet! I'm curious, though. Does anyone use this tablet for ebooks? I'm currently using my old 2013 Fire HDX7. It's very small portable and light but the battery life is disappointing.

They haven't 8-in tablet although I don't know how long it's been since they refreshed it. I think they have one with USBC at least but fact check me on this. They even have a 7-in tablet but that one's really old
@@michaelcorcoran8768 amazon fire tablets are all annoyingly slow even compared to a mid tier mobile phone. The 7 and 8 inch versions more so since they use bottom of the barrel mediatek CPUs.

Years ago 8 inch amazon fire tablets had FHD screens, now they went back to 1024x600 for the 7 inch model and 1280x800 for the 8 inch one, and comparably crappier CPUs. Other manufacturers use decent screens and slightly better CPUs, but mid tier smartphones are still more powerful.

I had the onn tablet pro/keyboard a few weeks ago because it went on sale at Walmart. I kept it for one day and returned it. I loved the size of it and the fact that it came with a nice keyboard case; but it constantly dropped the WiFi connection and the software was too buggy; even for a low-end budget device. I'm now typing this comment on the Fire Max 11 that I've only owned for around 4 or 5 hours, and I can already tell you that it runs extremely better than the onn tablet pro out the box. Google Play works great on it once installed, and the pen works smoothly as well. I purchased the bundle for $327 which includes the stylus, tablet, and keyboard case. I'm still testing the Max 11 out, but I completely believe that this tablet combo is definitely worth the price!
UGH, so close. this is compelling as it is, but i'd pay $70 more if it had the 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C 3.1 hdmi out. finding a tablet with usb-c 3.1 at $300 or less is a challenge!
i do like the fire tablets. i've owned all of them from 2019 to now... i might have to trade in my current one for this one. i only play dbz dokkan on it and some times youtube which the 2021 still plays it pretty good. i do hate the fire OS tho. its just so damn bloated but using nova launcher helps hide everything so thats a plus. ima look up trade in prices and might upgrade who knows

Bro, even laptops don't come with 500gb storage at the £500 price point. And this is mega cheap, obviously the storage space will be tiny. Mobile phone games don't take up a lot of storage and barely anyone emulates games on their phones, tgat is why oems don't put that much storage, also the price would be way too inflated.

Just got the Fire 11 Max but having problems getting RetroArch to work. When loaded it lets me select one option then I can't do anything unless I minimise the screen then come back. After that it then again lest me make one selection like selecting the Load Core button but doesn't open or do anything. I've tried both RetroArch x64 & the version from Amazon. Anyone got any help or had this? Running the Firetool box & Nova. Thanks

Amazon will lower the price of any Fire tablet by a few dollars if you agree to let them push advertising to your lock screen. If you want to remove the ads on a tablet that already has them enabled they'll charge you $15 US.
This is only "fast" in terms of Amazon devices but definitely not as fast as a bunch of cheaper android tablets with way more ram and space, plus the real Android experience.

Nice Amazon is finally starting to put out tablets that are actually usable. I've had previous Fire tablets in the past and was thinking about getting another one. Now that I've seen how the Fire Max 11 can run. I might start looking into getting another one. I'm still waiting for a tablet or phone that's as easy for a user to repair and load new OS's on. I know you can get phones that are user repairable and can be easier for loading a new OS on like the PinePhone. I just want to be able to repair what I own and be able to change OS's to find one I like more than Android. If I paid for it I should be able to do what I want with it. I have an Xbox360 that I don't game on anymore and games I'm letting my brother play. I should be able to wipe the OS off the Xbox and load a new OS like Chimera OS or a different OS that the hardware can support since I paid for it. I can't stand these locked down sandboxes companies put on the products they sell us.
4 GB RAM is too low - Amazon always cut corners. Like the fire cube with 100 MB Ethernet.... The bloatware, ads etc annoy me as well and it not possible to run a custom OS anymore. Overall Redmi pad wins easily but looks positive signs from Amazon.

I really want the productivity bundle but I donlt think it is worth $320, also I am pretty sire you can no longer disable fire launcher or amazon processes, my fire HD 8 got updated and it sucks now, the work arounds are terrible , on is lsow and buggy and the other is ok but it does not survive rebbot ,If I am going to spend $320 I rather get a chinese tbalet and be able to use nova on it.

I have had this tablet for a couple weeks. I can say that I have tested a good amount of ps2 games and they run great. Some even upscaled. There are some that I could not get to run. Like Smackdown here comes the pain. But the Warriors, wwe all Stars, max Payne, legends of wrestling, def jam fight for new York, scarface all worked. Psp games really shine on this tablet. God of War, ufc 2010, wwe smackdown vs raw games, fight night round 3, etc... dreamcast ran good too.

I got a 8" Fire HD 8 tablet for $68 Cdn on Prime day and I am very happy with it, I side loaded Firefox. I watch youtube and make phone calls with it.

At this price I feel you're better off buying a pre-owned Galaxy Tab S7. Your security updates are going to run out more quickly, but your performance and form factor are better. I picked up a "blemished" Tab S7 last year off of eBay for $175. It has an almost unnoticeable amount of backlight bleed, which was why it was refurbed. The performance is incredible, and performance tests of both tabs show the S7 markedly better. Just my two cents, but that's the route I'd go. I use my Tab S7 every day, and its integration with my phone makes it even better.

I just purchased my first Chinese retro emulation handheld a few hours ago. It's the $20 Data Frog SF2000. I knew about it a few months ago from Sonic Love Emulation. Then I saw TechDweeb talk about it recently and then I went, why the hell not?
I'm a cheap MFER when it comes to gaming. I mean, why are some of us into retro emulation? To download FREE games! I swore to never buy one of these since I already have an Essential Phone, Pixel 3, Razr 5G, Galaxy Z Flip 3, modded PSP slim, and modded Vita slim to emulate all those old games. And I nearly got the Razr+ today.
TechDweeb and his nerdy, nasal voice got me convinced. If it sucks, I'll just gift it to my nephews in the Philippines. They make perfect Kris Kringle gifts. I figured I wanted this because I love the SNES controller so much and I needed a backup to my Vita and PSP in case their buttons starts wearing off. A lot of old games, there's tons of button mashing. The Data Frog has a really nice form factor that I prefer over $60+ ones.
I could easily just get an Abernic or Miyoo Mini Plus. But why spend 3-5x more and I have smartphones more powerful than them? Plus, I'm not the biggest fan of portrait handhelds. Miyoo Mini would start feeling cramped. I prefer landscape handhelds. With a bad economy, it's all about being as frugal as we can. ROG Ally might be better than a Steam Deck, but I'll get the cheapest Deck to save $200-$300.
I think the SF2000 is going to be fun. It's a cheap handheld you can throw in a bag and not care if it breaks. I'm aware it's not great with SNES and GBA emulation. I'm fine with that. NES, Genesis, and MAME are good enough for me! I'm going to play a lot of Street Fighter II': Special Champion's Edition on the thing. I mean, ETA Prime paid $15 to get that McNugget handheld that had only Tetris. SF2000 seems way better than that.
This was very tempting. i almost pulled the trigger on buying this tablet. I need a stylus with a tablet to be productive. However, Amazon tablets just don’t work for me day to day. Especially since I canceled Amazon prime. I found a good deal on a surface go refurbished from Microsoft store around the same price if anyone is in the same boat as me.
I want a good n100 windows tablet. Even tho I just use my android tablet as a streaming and reading device. Is slow and widws gives me more software options.
I like this direction for the Amazon Fire tablets. Now we need to see more productivity applications. With the stylus support, it could benefit from a killer drawing app like Procreate. Plus, there are things like Lightroom. I'm not expecting video editing like on the M1 and M2 iPad Pro, but a good RAW photo editing app would be welcome.

I appreciate this review and I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming emulation extravaganza video. Two questions: 1) Does the Fire OS version of Android 11 support Google's gesture navigation? 2) Does this tablet support wired controllers; either OTG for normal stuff or USB PD 2 for my GameSir X2 Pro if I'd ever get the urge to modify it to fit a tablet?
I guess it might be too late now, but just in case... there's no option for gesture navigation in the settings, but you can enable it through adb. it makes the gesture navbar a weird height, but if you play around with the screen dpi, you can make it the right size. and it does support otg. no video out though. I tried a usb c hub, and it didnt recognize anything.

I'm still not sold on tablets that much. So the cheaper the better for me. All that really matters is a good screen otherwise i'll never use it. But as a portable media player with good battery life and a nice looking screen this seems kind of perfect for me.

would you recommend this over the xiomi redmi pad with 6gb ram? on amazon in US they are the exact same price right now. Performance Wise I think the Xiomi has a tiny bit better? but not to familiar with the new processor in the Fire max 11
Redmi has a snapdragon is kinda old but you'll het more compatibility in emulation even drivers for some.

The benefit of Amazon products like this is Amazon allows you to pay Monthly WITHOUT the typical APR crap like Affirm. For this tablet, $46 a month for 5 months WITHOUT APR
Definitely affordable if you want something like this. Amazon does this for MANY of its own products and others, so its very simple to buy something expensive but for an affordable monthly price without having to pay extra for APR.
To honestly that does not seem like a great deal to me given that the fire 10 can be found for 80 bucks once a month. It has the same chipset, the same amount of RAM and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. By the time you get the keyboard bundle with this one, it's over $300 you might as well just get a Lenovo duet 5, or 3. I feel like the $80 value proposition for the fire 10 is understandable but by the time you're up to $300 plus with the keyboard on this one, you do a lot better with the Chrome OS tablet. That has an OLED screen, keyboard comes in the box, can run Android apps and has a full Chrome OS desktop with proper desktop versions of browsers etc extensions..

Great video. Fire tablets aren't necessarily for everyone. They are great media consumption devices. I wish the app store was a little bit better. That being said, This video has me wanting to upgrade to the new fire max tablet.

This is a good evolutionary step for the Fire tablets. I love the fact that it's pen compatible. Depending on the pen and tablet performance, it could be a great option for people who want to draw or use pens. For gaming, it looks perfectly fine. Would've liked to have seen a bit better performance with Genshin Impact, but it still looks playable. All-in-all, a really solid looking Fire tablet.
From reviews I've seen the pen performance is laggy. In landscape mode it's very easy to accidentally tap the volume buttons while gaming. It's a decent tab, but seems a bit buggy in the software department.

I think reviewers are jumping the gun when they say this is the most powerful fire tablet ever, I mean technically it's basically equal.
Yeah I agree and losing the headphone jack is a huge deal too. It's such a small port to not include it's honestly ridiculous they didn't. There are many situations where using bluetooth headphones aren't as ideal and frankly I've never found a pair that were as effortlessly comfortable as my many sets of plug in earbuds.
Not having a headphone jack on say a winders tablet or apple, isnt the world's end because adapters and Bluetooth at least works with pretty low lag. Which shoot, the 2021 9th gen ipad even has a headphone jack.
Android though? It's still rough. How does someone watch a movie or play a video game seriously with Bluetooth headphones on Android? ESPECIALLY if you use 2.4ghz wifi, or also have a second Bluetooth device plugged up. It's roughly a second lag. Plus USB c adapters may or may not even work.
It's why when he said 'all sorts of connectivity ' I'm like wuht? No headphone jack, no native video out. 'sure you could say like the rockfish adapter. But it's compressed'
@@excessmaterial not having 3.5mm jack is not really an issue - USB-C DACs (based on CX31993 chip or similar, I can confirm it works for HD10 at least) only cost 5-10$ and give noticeable boost in quality and volume level. The main issue with Fire Max 11 is price, it's just not worth the extra compared to HD10 (even 2019 model) for it's main functions.
Ur wrong the max 11 is more powerful I have the fire 10 and can't play cod mobile on medium graphics but you can on the fire 11 and it scores higher then a snapdragon 720G n that's a mid grade processor
Err, not sure where you're getting your info, at a google the Fire Max 11 has a new CPU (Mediatek 8188, vs MT8183 in Fire HD 10) and it's WAY more powerful. Geekbench single core (by far the most important benchmark for day to day performance IMO is single core, reason why dual core entry level iPads are fast as hell and trounce low end Android tablets with 8 cores) of almost 700 for the 8188 vs ~300 for the 8173 at least according to google (I actually have a Fire Hd 10 for my security camera 10 feet away, maybe I'll pull it down and geekbench it myself, but would be more trouble if geekbench needs to be sideloaded). So in single core which again I value a lot, the Fire Max 11 is more than double as fast. Multi core was 1929 vs 1360 so also a large increase FWIW. IIRC Amazon only claimed the Fire Max Processor was around 50% faster, so they may have looked at mult core score, graphics, or simply were being conservative.
All that being a long way to say yes, the Fire Max 11 has a significantly more powerful chipset LOL.
As for RAM I believe the Fire Hd 10 default is 3GB, and IIRC you can get a 4GB version of the Fire HD 10 (called the Fire HD 10 Plus) but it costs more. So the 4GB default of the 11 is a nice bump there too.
Fire Max 11 also has aluminum construction rather than plastic according to reviews, also a very nice increase in quality feel IMO.
Of course you pay for it, starting at 229 vs 149. I'll be fascinated to see where sales land the Fire Max 11 (I'm expecting 149, but anything lower would be a cherry on top). Still, for the price, as usual, I doubt anything else comes close.

Stardew Valley looks amazing on this tablet! I'm curious, though. Does anyone use this tablet for ebooks? I'm currently using my old 2013 Fire HDX7. It's very small portable and light but the battery life is disappointing.

Years ago 8 inch amazon fire tablets had FHD screens, now they went back to 1024x600 for the 7 inch model and 1280x800 for the 8 inch one, and comparably crappier CPUs. Other manufacturers use decent screens and slightly better CPUs, but mid tier smartphones are still more powerful.

I had the onn tablet pro/keyboard a few weeks ago because it went on sale at Walmart. I kept it for one day and returned it. I loved the size of it and the fact that it came with a nice keyboard case; but it constantly dropped the WiFi connection and the software was too buggy; even for a low-end budget device. I'm now typing this comment on the Fire Max 11 that I've only owned for around 4 or 5 hours, and I can already tell you that it runs extremely better than the onn tablet pro out the box. Google Play works great on it once installed, and the pen works smoothly as well. I purchased the bundle for $327 which includes the stylus, tablet, and keyboard case. I'm still testing the Max 11 out, but I completely believe that this tablet combo is definitely worth the price!
UGH, so close. this is compelling as it is, but i'd pay $70 more if it had the 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB-C 3.1 hdmi out. finding a tablet with usb-c 3.1 at $300 or less is a challenge!

i do like the fire tablets. i've owned all of them from 2019 to now... i might have to trade in my current one for this one. i only play dbz dokkan on it and some times youtube which the 2021 still plays it pretty good. i do hate the fire OS tho. its just so damn bloated but using nova launcher helps hide everything so thats a plus. ima look up trade in prices and might upgrade who knows

Mobile phone games don't take up a lot of storage and barely anyone emulates games on their phones, tgat is why oems don't put that much storage, also the price would be way too inflated.
@@oo--7714 You need to really get your facts straight when answering. 500 has no issue getting a 500GB drive. But thats not really the point. 500 for certain will get you an NVME or slot to do your storage.
That's why there's tons of better options for Android tablets all over Amazon. Samsung, Lenovo and TCL make some good ones.

Just got the Fire 11 Max but having problems getting RetroArch to work. When loaded it lets me select one option then I can't do anything unless I minimise the screen then come back. After that it then again lest me make one selection like selecting the Load Core button but doesn't open or do anything. I've tried both RetroArch x64 & the version from Amazon. Anyone got any help or had this? Running the Firetool box & Nova. Thanks

Amazon will lower the price of any Fire tablet by a few dollars if you agree to let them push advertising to your lock screen. If you want to remove the ads on a tablet that already has them enabled they'll charge you $15 US.

This is only "fast" in terms of Amazon devices but definitely not as fast as a bunch of cheaper android tablets with way more ram and space, plus the real Android experience.

Nice Amazon is finally starting to put out tablets that are actually usable. I've had previous Fire tablets in the past and was thinking about getting another one. Now that I've seen how the Fire Max 11 can run. I might start looking into getting another one. I'm still waiting for a tablet or phone that's as easy for a user to repair and load new OS's on. I know you can get phones that are user repairable and can be easier for loading a new OS on like the PinePhone. I just want to be able to repair what I own and be able to change OS's to find one I like more than Android. If I paid for it I should be able to do what I want with it. I have an Xbox360 that I don't game on anymore and games I'm letting my brother play. I should be able to wipe the OS off the Xbox and load a new OS like Chimera OS or a different OS that the hardware can support since I paid for it. I can't stand these locked down sandboxes companies put on the products they sell us.
Some tablets have Android custom ROM support (read: tab s6 lite). Some old Fires also have it…..

4 GB RAM is too low - Amazon always cut corners. Like the fire cube with 100 MB Ethernet....
The bloatware, ads etc annoy me as well and it not possible to run a custom OS anymore.
Overall Redmi pad wins easily but looks positive signs from Amazon.
