The Lenovo Legion Tab Y700 2023 edition is the best 8-inch Android tablet you can buy today. It features a very fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor with lots of RAM and storage, as well as a high-resolution 8-inch display with active pen support. We get two USB C ports, a premium build, great speakers, and Android 13.
What do you think of the Legion Tab Y700 2023?

I still remember the 8-inch Tab S2 from Samsung, which had high specifications and a small size, and so did Xiaomi. Unfortunately, companies stopped producing 8-inch devices that compete with the iPad mini from Apple. This device is very high-end, but it is directed to China. I don't know why there are no international versions of this device. Thank you very much for your efforts .

I don’t get it either. I had the Tab S2 and it was great. That’s the reason I have the iPad Mini, even though everything else I have is Samsung.

@arondyte318 that would make sense if they stopped making 8-inch tablets recently. But the last time one came out was 2015. 5 years before the first foldable came out.

Lenovo has been doing great things when it comes to mini tablets in 2023. Not only that they released the Legion Y700 (2020), but the Legion Go as well. It is a shame that the Legion Y700 is not available in more countries because I think Lenovo would be a problem for Apple and Samsung. We need more competition in the mini tablet market. On the bright side, the Legion Go is available globally.

I had the Galaxy Tab S2 too. Used it until the battery became weak. I replaced it with the 11 inches Samsung Galaxy Tab S7. Initially i felt 8 inches was the sweet spot of screen size but after using the 11 inches Tab S7, I think it's better.
It seems Samsung has the best software both for Android tablets and phones. The recent addition of the Taskbar on foldables and tablets makes one touch apps switching possible. Multitasking is also great. Chinese companies seem to be caughting up fast with Samsung , Oppo/ 1 + seem to be doing great with their software.

Shoking that they removed the extended mode when connected to HDMI screen when in PC mode.I have the previous model and it has it. Works fine with a regular 1080p display, and also works with a huge 43" 4K computer monitor, but everything is then huge too. You have PC ode on big screen and can still run Android apps on the built-in display.Very handy.

I picked it up myself, mate. Perfect size for those on the go, or just want something light weight. I'm not crazy about the UI. Wish it had a bit more customization, like when it comes to removing the swipe up bar at the bottom. Fortunately, it's not something I'd consider a deal breaker.

Wait, you can't remove the offensive gesture bar that tells me things the manufacturer knows that I already know? I guess I'll stay with my 2022 version running Android 11. Sometimes firmware devs act way more autistic than me. We all know there's no valid excuse for forcing that bar to be persistent. It's a tutorial, and nothing else. Most people simply aren't stupid enough to need that, and Lenovo removing the ability to disable that means that they think we are stupid. All they have to do is add a toggle, then everyone's happy, but they paid people to make the user experience much worse on purpose. My gosh.

I have this tablet, it has a fully integrated desktop mode. Just make sure to leave it in normal android mode (not internal desktop mode), once you plug it to the monitor, it will show extra options where you can adjust the resolution and even the frame rate (kinda like center stage of iPad OS). It works full native resolution on my 2k144hz monitor.

Did they bring back the actual pc mode (it's not actually a PC mode if it can only be triggered with a second screen, for it to be actually a PC mode, it needs to allow you to use your device like a PC with a mouse and keyboard, eg a laptop replacement).

I would honestly be skeptical of their customer service if they put misinformation like that on their page. I wish I could ask the person who wrote that why they thought that was valid. After all, they are effectively claiming that a built in and warrantied feature from Lenovo that is accessible through the notification drawer is unsafe to use. No, that's really not how that works, and it's amazing that that isn't obvious to that seller. Technically, any Android device is unsafe to use because trading and gambling apps exist (you can ruin your entire life in a matter of minutes using only your fingers and without breaking any laws). It's about how you use it. But, I can't think of a way using the bypass charging mode can possibly by unsafe in any way. If they did that, it would be ruined, and would be a major dealbreaker. Shame on you for going full iSheep wannabe and pretending that durability and choice is a bad thing. This is the only high end Android tablet that doesn't suffer from burn in. The ONLY one. It's actually disgusting that you want every single tablet to have durability problems that make you not want to use your tablet. The old Android slogan was "be together, not the same". I want at least ONE high end tablet that I can use at max brightness for a few years without wearing out my display. Shame on you for wanting to take away that extremely limited option. Now, if they want to add OLED as a separate SKU and charge an extra 150 bucks for it, I'm all for that. Everybody wins. But your solution of "give it AMOLED" attacks power users and environmentally-minded people. All you have to do to avoid that is do what I did: suggest making a separate version with OLED to satisfy people like you, and keep selling an LCD variant for actual gamers and enthusiasts. If this was your intent when writing your comment, then I apologize. If that is the case, then I suggest NOT using the exact same words that people who want to take away the ONLY Android tablet with a super high end LCD that doesn't make you feel stressed and guilty for using your tablet. Android used to be about choice, and now the strongest voices AGAINST hardware diversity come from Android fans. It makes Apple fans look open minded by comparison.

    • @awesomeferret
      @awesomeferret 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@BilaalM85 I hope you're just accidentally gaslighting me, and not intentionally doing so. Having to use a dongle is NOT an appropriate solution, since it makes connecting to Bluetooth significantly easier unless you already happen to have your usb DAC in your pocket. Some people have more than one device that they use on a daily basis, you know. Also, I shouldn't have to buy a new 50+ dollar device just to ALMOST get back a feature that was replaced by a camera that I will never ever use.
In the future, please put a bit more thought into your replies. Thank you. If what you said was actually valid, I wouldn't have posted my original comment. That's frankly a bit weird that you assumed I didn't know it had two usb ports, considering the video we are commenting on. The exact reason that I am so annoyed is because you CANNOT "easily connect a headphone using a type c adapter". That's the entire point. Instead of it being significantly easier to use wired headphones, it's now a bit easier to use Bluetooth, because wired audio is now so DIFFICULT to use. I shouldn't have to accept a significantly downgraded audio user experience just because they decided that a tablet that doesn't need a rear camera to begin with suddenly needs TWO trash cameras instead of one.

@@awesomeferret Am sorry if you feel this way. I was just sharing my opinion. I have been told am very direct in the way i express myself. Its not gaslighting or nothing personal.
I have been using a pixel 7 pro for the last year and it does not have a 3.5mm port. I almost did not get it because of this. All my previous phones had one. Am not sure why they are slowly removing it in all the new devices, specially flagshig ones. But i had to adapt by using a type-c to 3.5mm adapter or use my bluetooth earphones. I guess this tablet having 2 type-c ports makes it so much easier given you can still charge at the same time or use the other one for something else.
The way i see it, most future devices will likely not have it, so everyone will need to make the jump at some point, i see this specially on high end devices, not sure why. Maybe because it compromises waterproofing? Or because of the thickness of the device? Am not sure. This is the way i look at it and learned to accept it.

Depends. If you want to buy a tablet and use it for 5 years, I would wait for the iPad Mini. But if you enjoy getting new tech, I would get the Y700 from China. It just won't get updates as long as an iPad will.
