I'm not a gamer, but the 2023 seems to be the best small tablet out there bar none. For someone who wants a device for media consumption, books, notes or even some productivity with the desktop mode, this is by far the most well-rounded package out there. The only ways it could be better is with a headphone jack and maybe an OLED display, but the latter would jack up the price... Either way, for what most people actually need from a small tablet, this seems to be the way to go! Maybe I'll wait another year and get the 2023 one hugely discounted.
I decided to get the Y700 2023. I mostly want to use it to play PS2 and below and the difference in performance is minimal for the price difference and I got a pretty good deal on the 2023 version. Having the micro sd card slot is a big advantage as well especially if you want to load it with games.
@@rayto8705Yes it can play PS2 but you have to load the PS2 roms on to the internal storage. When trying to play PS2 games from the sd card you will notice a micro stutter while playing. Everything else emulates perfectly including Gamecube.
I have the 2023 model, on balance performance mode, you can play all PS2 games at 3x stable, at performance mode you can go 4.5x but sometimes the simulator is limited, although you have surplus power, emulator cant really do 4.5x and FPS drops.
The Switch emulation, I was able to get 2x resolution running at full speed in some games for the 2025. I couldn't get the 2023 model to do full speed at 1x. Also, I'm able to get 25-60 fps, high settings, running FF7 Remake on Winlator with the 2025 model. For people that don't care about all of that and don't wanna spend the extra, I can see why the 2023 can be better along with the SD card slot.
any company can put the BEST hardware in a tablet.... but what really matters is the firmware updates, monthly updates and continued software support. lenovo.... lenovo is known for not doing this, sadly. and removing the sdcard slot on the new version just shows you the direction the company is going.
What's the skinny on swapping the ROM over to a native US version with Play support? I heard there was some sort of OTA update you could trigger direct from Lenovo
I'd go with the one with SD card slot, I don't know why tablet or cellphone brands started to remove them even the headphone jack. Those hardware are very cheap and people love them.
Hey all, y700 2023 owner here. For my main purposes and use case (home streaming from pc and PS5) che 2023 version is just perfect. When Winlator/Gamefusion will be stable, user friendly and consistent (soonish hopefully), I'm gonna need more power so I hope the next iteration of the y700 will have the Snapdragon Elite. For the time being I'm absolutely good with the 2023 model. My two cents
Good call, you may want to try Winlator too for some serious Windows triple A gaming too. Is the version your ordered with an English rom? All I can find seems to have the Chinese Rom.

I'm new to the Legion ecosystem. I wasn't even really thinking about a new tablet until maybe a week ago. Fast forwarding to researching the best gaming tablets over a period of days and I landed on the y700 in terms of price and performance. I was trying to stay within a price range so it was either the 2023 at 16/512 or the 2025 at 12/256. I ultimately decided that I likely won't need (for the level of emulation and app store games I play) storage beyond 256GB and 12GB RAM is certainly sufficient.
