I started Tretinoin and sunscreen about 2 years when I first came across Jen (Thanks for that). I’m a month shy of 30 and still get mistaken for a teen… but I’m also half East Asian, so that may play in to that.
I also believe in simplicity with simple active ingredients and watching/listening what your skin is saying. I’m based in London and I just use the “Simple” range of skincare… super affordable and simple. And a nice affordable sunscreen designed for the face… I use “the Altruist, face fluid” about 12 USD a month…

I have dry skin and I used to have a peptide serum and a ceramide cream at different times and I noticed my face would remain hydrated throughout the day. I was able to tell the difference when I couldn’t afford any of them for about 2 years and after repurchasing them, oh yes, what a difference! I also noticed azelaic acid completely calmed down the flared skin I always used to have on the sides of my nose. Hi Jen, I love your skincare content, as basic as repetitive as it is, I like how you have been consistent and found out what works for you. I watch a great load of derm skincare content, I am passionate about the topic and even work with skincare. My main advice for everyone would be: 1 - Remember that your skin and your skin needs are very unique and what is right or great for others, even if that's the majority of people, might not be good for you (the opposite is also true) 2 - If you think you have a skin condition or you are struggling with something specific, get a proper diagnosis from a derm. You might be using something that doesn't help with what you're trying to treat, it might even making things worse. Don't follow anyone's advice if don't have a specific diagnosis. 3- If something is working well, stick to it unless it's not working anymore - use few things consistently

Love your simple approach and you look amazing! Since finding you, and Dr Dray, I use moisturizer and sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen in the am. I don’t feel the need to cleanse my skin in the morning. Night time is double cleanse with Alboleen, then ceravie gentle cleanser. Then moisturizer and then Tretenoin.25. I am 60 but look in my mid 40’s. Very few fine lines. I used to buy a lot of actives and I am not convinced they really did much. But the tretinoin and sunscreen and protective clothing have saved my skin. Love your channel. 😊

    Hi,
For PM I use La Roche Posay Toleraine Dermo cleanser, Dieux Instant Angel face cream, and Prescription Tret 2x week. For the AM I still use the same cleanser and face cream, then La Roche Posay Mineral Anthelios Fluid Sunscreen. I really love your simple and consistency is best motto, couldn't agree more. No makeup for me just a simple gloss from topicals. If I need to help get beach day sunscreen off my face with a double cleanse I will use bioderma micellar water if on hand or use my same Dermo cleanser 2 times
For body I use LRP lipikar+ or Prequel urea lotion, nuxe pink bottle deodorant, body wash is Aveeno with coconut scent, and body sunscreen supergoop play lotion and spray.

Hada Labo oil for cleansing, especially makeup removal - no film or stinging. Beauty of Joseon for sunscreen (also, Australian gold tinted). Moisturizers - CeraVe PM or The Ordinary good old NFA/HA as it's not greasy or pilling. Unscented argan oil is nice for very dry nights. I love CereVe Healing ointment for lips or irritated spots.

I’ve been using cerave pm recommended by you a couple years ago and I love it! It’s just as good or better than top brands such as obagi in my experience. My mom was an esthetician and my favorites from her are 10% glycolic paired with vitamin c. But I agree that you could sub that for the retin-a and get even better results over time. Thank you so much for your recommendations! They are on point!

I’ve been using La Roche Posay hydrating cleanser and their Toleriane moisturizer- very mild and effective. I try to use differin at night but it seems to irritate my eyes, even though I don’t put it around my eyes. I also will sometimes use Eucerin Q-10 cream, which I love! To take my make up off at night I use Ponds cold cream and a washcloth, then follow with cleanser and moisturizer. Lately I’ve been using Neutrogena sunscreen, I think it’s the sheer mineral 50, doesn’t bother my eyes. Thank you for the video!

Hi Jennifer, really enjoyed this video, I use several of those products. Turning 55 in May. Smooth clear, bright glowing skin. Solid skincare routine since a young age and avoided the sun/used sunscreen/hats/large glasses since a very young age. A salicylic acid (short contact) face cleanser as a second step has been a game changer for me the past few years. My diet has been all natural, organic for decades. I eat vegan, no oil and loads of fruits and veggies/organic soy beans/occasionally kidney beans on my salad and sprouted tofu/ raw seeds & nuts Fitness and yoga instructor and the sweat is key for me too! BUT most importantly, as a follower of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior I credit my glow from Him. The joy of the Lord bubbling out of me. I call it the glory glow!

To bring an example to my point I had acne all my life and got good results from using Differin. Now in the past years I have little spots that look like acne, but when I spoke to my doctor they think that isn't acne anymore but most likely dermatitis/rosacea, so the retinoid that I am using specifically on that area thinking it'd do me good, might be making things worse. So will check in with a derm to adjust my routine!

While I like to switch up a lot of things my favorite moisturizer that I’ve used for years is weleda skin food original nothing like it for me, I also love the heritage rose water for like an essence, the dickinsons original toner is a great one, I like the garnier blue micellar water as well those items never change but serums/actives & sunscreens do for me!

Since I started following Dr Dray in 2019, I switched to Vanicream cleanser (loooove it), nightly 0.025% tretinoin, and Clinique 100h moisturizer. In the morning I add Vanicream Vitamin C serum and Azelaic acid because I suffer from a lot of redness. And of course my holy grail sunscreen, Skinceuticals tinted physical sunscreen. Never without. ❤ Oh and I also double cleanse with a cleansing balm before my foaming cleanser because I find it does not get rid of all the sunscreen on my face if I don't.

At night , same thing but addding trétinoine 0.05%. .( no SPF, of course) and also, sometimes I add the advanced night repair serum by Lauder AM and PM if I'm .red because of tret. So u see very simple too, apart from the serum a bit dear. take care.

PM: cerave cleanser, LRP hyalu B5, LRP Lipikar Baume AP+M.
Switched to this simple routine after getting skin irritation from using Adapalane. I thought my skin could tolerate Adapalane well and started out using it too frequently... The skin around my mouth and nose was peeling and irritating. My skin has been healing quite well after switching to this routine. La Roche-Posay Lipikar Baume AP+M is my HG! Comes with a big bottle, very hydrating and gentle yet effective in calming down the skin.

I use a no name gentle cleanser for sensitive skin, centella ampoule for hydration, and the Hada Labo Tokyo Sunscreen, (which i have to put powder over cause it shines like a lightbulb, but it was the most affordable I could find that doesn't feel greasy or make me look like a ghost or had that awful specific sunscreen smell) Also for the powder I got an affordable one from essence that does the job. And then once a week or once every 2 weeks, I use an AHA+BHA mask.

In the morning I wash my face with my dermatologist prescribed benzoyl peroxide face wash, I then use a 20% vitamin C + vitamin E + ferulic acid serum on my face and then a 5% caffeine serum under my eyes. I then finish with Cetaphil oil free SPF 35 moisturizer.
At night I wash again with the same benzoyl peroxide facewash and then apply tretinoin to my face and neck, and an eye serum with yerba mate, caffeine and hyaluronic acid under my eyes. I top it all off with Cetaphil hydrating face moisturizer.
4 steps in the morning and 4 steps at night. I like to keep it simple. I also sometimes use some Vaseline if my face feels dry, especially with using tretinoin. The Vaseline tip I got from you Jennifer.

For too many years I believed that I needed multiple products and active ingredients, but also believe simpler is better. I think my skin is so good at age 65 is because I have used Retin-A consistently since I was in high school. I have only recently discovered Castor Oil and love it, but need to mix it with a thinner oil such as argan oil in order to spread it on my face easier. As an unexpected benefit, I found that the castor oil helps with my dry eyes.

I started using tretinoin last year in summer and I like the effect. I try different sunscreens because I want to find my holy grail :) I do enjoy skincare a lot and trying different products so I'm definitely in this category of 4-5 step skincare routine which I love! However, there are 4 things that definitely are the foundation of my skincare routine and it goes in line with yours (which are responsible for 80% of my good skin, the rest is just fluff honestly, on top of nutrition, hydration, activity and good sleep hygiene):
    1) good, gentle cleansing
    2) sunscreen
    3) retinoid
    4) rich moisturizing (cannot use tret without good moisturizers personally).
I love your simplistic approach. I do use additionally: AM: vit C serum with ferulic acid and vit E, AHA and BHA (couple of times a week, otherwise my dead skin rolls under my fingers from tret), PM: niacinamide / hyaluronic acid serum. Love each step of my skincare routine and it's my time for self love

I agree, simple is best. In the morning I cleanse, use a serum, a moisturizer and then my SPF 50 Cotz flawless complexion. I've really been loving the new cerave hydrating foaming oil cleanser. For moisturizer I use the Kiehls ultra facial moisturizer (not the cream in the tub) because the texture is incredible and it leaves the skin so dewy and plump. At night I oil cleanse then cleanse, currently using Altreno as my retinoid (INCREDIBLE formula) and then seal it all with this amazing vitamine E based cream. I will say the serum I use in the morning is egregiously expensive. It's the skinmedica TNS serum but I can honestly say I've never used a skincare product that created such an immediate and drastic change in my skin. It was hard not to be impressed with it so I'm stuck buying it now. It truly lifts, firms and evens the skin you can visibly see and feel the differnce. It's like photoshop in a bottle. That skinmedica product is truly remarkable but it is like $300

I'm not an ophthalmologist or optometrist, but just a normal guy. Just that I've seen reports of it. You can just google "MGD tretinoin" and even some MDs are talking about it. I would love to continue using tretinoin, it's just I'm not sure if the rewards outweigh the risks now...
The thing that's scaring me is that it's not reversible if you develop it, like you can't just take a pill and it'll get better. It's permanent. I'm just not sure if facial aesthetics/vanity are more important than healthy eyes now.@@Dr_Hope735
