i'm going to say it - la roche posay toleriane moisturizer and la roche posay effaclar gel cleanser (day) and clarifying solution (night). also ole henrikson banana bright vitamin c serum.
I'm not a skincare geek but one thing that i know that most of people get confused between bacteria and fungus and most of times they use harsh products that kills the bacteria not the fungus and they think bacteria is bad but they actually destroy their skin by killing bacteria, also i really like the way you structured this video, very organized and to the point, keep up Robin!
I love that you didn't start out with a focus on the exact skincare you use but more on your philosophy and how it has helped you find things that work. It's always great to see what someone uses but skincare is so individual that knowing how to figure out what works for you is more helpful. I also like how affordable the products are in your routine, proof that you don't need to spend a ton of money to see improvements. I'm very interested in the zinc oxide and at home IPL steps, definitely going to experiment with those.
For the past two months, I've been using a red light therapy device from Future Form Official. In my late 50s, I started it for joint pain relief and skin improvement. I use it 20 minutes daily on my face, neck, and chest. Surprisingly, my chronic migraines have almost vanished, letting me sleep peacefully. My skin looks more radiant and youthful too. Despite my age, I've always received compliments on my skin, and this therapy has enhanced it even more. The experience is soothing, and I highly recommend red light therapy for its multiple benefits.
This is a fantastic routine! In Poland we can get azelaic acid cream 15% OTC, but so far my fave is one from The inkey List. For nighttime I like their bio-active ceramide repairing and plumping moisturiser. My night time routine: 1. Cleansing balm/oil - cerave/bioderma 2. Cleanser - La Roche Posay Toleriane 3. Real Barrier Cica relief toner 4. Copper peptide serum from The Ordinary 5. Azelaic acid from the Inkey List 6. Geek & Gorgeous retinal 7. The inkey list bio-active moisturizer (if I am extra dry in winter I will use cosrx snail mucin essence under the cream) Day 1. Water splash 2. I have a priming toner from a local brand (basiclab) for sensitive/rosacea skin 3. Azelaic 4. Antioxidant serum with tetra vitamin C or Niod Survival 0 5. Aveeno calm + restore moisturizer or Cerave or the inkey list peptide moisturizer 6. SPF (Eucerin Sensitive mineral or Rovectin mineral)
This was such a great, detailed informative video. I'm 54 and never really had skin issues until I was nearing 50. Lately, it's been worse. For now, I'm trying things out. Long story short, I ended up going with the online skin care, "Ro" and I'm getting a unique blend that seems to be working. It has tretinoin.
I have switched my skincare routine to the exact same products as you and im stunned at how well my Rosacea is doing. The struggle is real and i want to thank you!!!
Are you also using the Skin1004 toning toner? I bought it as I thought it was a serum/toner with centella aciatica, only to find out it is a mild (Pha) exfoliant. I also have rosacea and I'm a bit scared with exfoliating everyday.
Dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss talks about using a diaper cream as the final step for the same healing properties you talked about. She just posted about it. She calls it “basting”. I’ve been doing it for about a month now and LOVE it. I also use a zinc sunscreen so knew my skin loved zinc.
@@belwynne1386 ugh I live in Brasil and we don't have triple paste 🥺 in tried with nebacetin baby which is 10% zinc oxide but I so wanted to try the triple paste. Sounds amazing. I tried looking to ship here and it's unbelievably expensive in my currency (reais). Wanted to cry lmao
This video has changed my life and helped my skin more than any other. It's also saving me a ton of money because i had these products but was using them in the wrong order and wasting them.
if youre looking for a zinc cream that is unscented and cheap, check the baby section at your local drugstore, often diaper rash cream is basically zinc cream and since its for babies it's unscented. I cycle alot and I get rashes in my bikini zone and I always use zinc cream there before going on a long cycling trips (once read it in a interview by a professional female cyclist) it's also great for treating razor rash !
Zinc oxide is actually used for a number of wounds, but diaper rash is the most common. Personally, it was used on me when I lost the skin on my leg by sliding along asphalt. It wasn't bad enough that there was major, permanent damage, but it was bad enough that I couldn't sleep and was in constant pain. The game changer was zinc oxide bandages and ice packs to keep the road burn cold. I now use zinc for any kind of skin issue I have. Definitely, if anyone reads this, if you have a cut, burn, rash, breakout, give zinc oxide a try to help heal it. It will reduce inflammation, scarring, & itching. But obviously, if whatever it is isn't healing, seek professional help. Also, from my experience, it is safe to mix zinc oxide with other creams like antibiotic or medical grade silver or medical grade honey to boost its healing effects. If you have reservations about mixing it, ask a doctor. Better be safe than sorry.
Omg! the Zinc mask part has been a family tradition that we have inherited from my mum and everyone in the family has been doing it for ages and it works!
Share some tips cause my skin get really dry after using it. I dont know what i am doing wrong ☹. How do you/yourfamily layer yours? What products do you use?
I have such a dryness problem with my skin but recently found something that really moisturizes my skin and I’m so happy. It’s La Roche Posay triple repair moisturizing cream!
I like to use castor oil for my scalp, eyebrows and eyelashes. It helps. I have seen plastic surgeons talking about the oil that it acts like a botox. So now I am applying it to my whole face, neck and hands. And yes for tretinoin/retinol and SPF. I am 45 soon, but I look youthful. And I am wearing hats in the summer always, since I am pale and freckled.
As a last step at night, I love using the bepanthen cream (the one specifically for sensitive skin). It has done wonders for my dry skin and lips caused by my current accutane treatment. 1000% recommend
I struggled with similar skin concerns. 10% azeleic acid did absolutely nothing for me but when I moved to prescription 15% strength, it was a complete transformation. Hands down my favorite ingredient
yesss i use a 15% azelaic acid cream and although i struggle with consistency any time i use it as prescribed for two weeks straight my skin is glorious
@@SharShar2plus3 in the United States, you indeed need a prescription from a dermatologist to get any products containing more than 10% azelaic acid. :) there are companies online that can facilitate this through a virtual consultation - hope this helps!
I’m amazed by the before-and-after results! Dealing with both rosacea and acne has been such a challenge, but seeing how these products work is truly inspiring. I’m definitely going to incorporate them into my routine. Thank you for sharing such a game-changing skincare journey!
When I'm not in the mood for doing all the skincare steps at night, I just apply diaper rash ointment followed by shea butter and look in the mirror ever so briefly lol. This caramel skin looks extra grey with this concoction lol. Worth it!
Great video! I also had amazing results after using a zink oxide cream and would like to share my simple and cheap skincare routine that has done absolute wonders for my rosacea skin. My skin has never looked this good! Step 1: as a cleanser I use Cetaphil, sometimes I add a little baking soda to it Step 2: applying a face oil (I use a vitamin E oil) Step 3: moisturizing my skin with Cetaphil moisturizing cream Step 4: applying a thin layer of sudocrem (gently tapping it into the skin, leave it on all night) I also recommend using a face mask 2 times a week made from baking soda and water. Leave it on for 10 minutes. Baking soda is anti-inflammatory, deeply cleanses your pores and makes them less visible. This mask is great for acne as well. People with rosacea should avoid gluten since it can cause inflammation and you will notice a big difference in your skin (less redness etc.) when you start eating gluten free.
I also have rosacea and have had trouble finding products that really help. I think you’re spot on about alcohol and essential oils. One product that I resisted for a long time but that has really helped to get rid of some nagging redness is the CosRX Snail Mucin. It works like magic! Plus a urea based toner and Sachi Pro Resilience Serum. Good luck on your skin care journey! I really enjoy your videos.
I've had a shift of perspective towards myself & found I feel much greater empathy for myself when I remember it's not only "me" or "my" body but the multitude of life living symbiotically with me, seeming to compose this body for me. personally I could never stand calling someone gross when they're just trying their best with the resources they're given. when I look in the mirror, see my skin's engineered efforts to deal with apparently challenging conditions & I tell it "eww"??? that's me projecting my ego & it's so rude. I've been practicing greeting my skin (and entire manifestation) with responsive love. today I searched "loving skin treatment" and your video came up. :) thank you
I love your "skincare philosophy" experiment approach. I have been using the same methodology for about 6 months after visiting 10-12 derms who are like, "Meh, it's acne." Spoiler: It was not acne. In my case, I have some kind of rosacea-like (closest to type 2 and ocular yay) condition that developed after I contracted a virus. It took me years to calm my skin down enough to be able to wash it once a day with water. It turns out I have some kind of inflammatory condition in my whole body which doesn't have an "actual disease label.". I had to experiment with diet and vitamins to calm it down. On my face and scalp, I seem to have an autoimmune reaction to my own sebum if it builds up. I'm assuming the extra inflammation comes from the yeast/fungus that feeds off of it. So I started experimenting with rosacea-safe products that calm the skin as well as anti-fungal treatments and BHA exfoliating ingredients and I'm finally seeing improvements. In situations like this, we have to continually keep experimenting. It's so hard to be patient lol. My next step is to figure out how to keep my skin moisturized, since any moisturizer at all (even the gels) encourages the yeast growth from the water content and causes inflammation in a matter of hours. I'd love to someday be able to wear makeup again and address anti-aging concerns with some actives. Thank you for sharing your routine and philosophy. ❤. I'm sorry you also had to struggle, but when the "one size fits all approach" doesn't fit, we've got to take matters into our own hands!
I’m so glad to hear of your process and where you’ve come, although it takes a lot of patience and trust in yourself when mainstream healthcare/drs don’t believe what you report. It sounds a lot like supporting your gut health and system from within has also replenished your skin slowly!
I have sensitive skin and rosacea and the Azelaic Acid Booster by Paula's Choice is a total game changer for my skin. Redness? Gone by the morning. Acne scars? Visibly faded/calmed down after one time use. I could imagine that it might not be doing much for you because you use it in the third step of your routine *after* the barrier step. Hence, it might not be able to penetrate the skin enough. I would use it as a first step after cleansing and seal with a barrier cream or moisturizer if neccessary.
yeah, its very good and helped my acne. i paired it with the 1% bha toner and then moisturizer afterwards. i dont feel the need to have anything more than that. it does take time before u see a difference. it didnt cure my redness though, it reduced it a bit but it doesnt go away fully for me unfortunately. again everyones skin is different.
I use the paula's choice Azelaic booster too, but I find it makes my skin dry and I end up not using it :( do you get dry from it too, if so what do you do? And do you used it every day morning and night? I just try and do it at night for now to get used to it.
@@Wild.Flower yeah it makes my skin flaky since i pair it with the bha toner too. i only use it at night and i put a heavy moisturizer on and then im usually fine tbh. i dont get dryness in the morning, but i also have oily skin too so
@@Wild.Flower No, I don't get dry from it. I use it once a week max now, always in the evening and mix it with a simple moisturizer that has no other actives (Avene Tolerance Hydra 10 in the summer; a barrier cream would be good too, I guess, but if it dries you out I would step up to a richer moisturizer to see if that worked). Remember: This is a very potent product with 10% AA and a little goes a long way. I use a pea-sized amount. Something else to consider: I don't have an excessive 5-10 step skin care routine bc my sensitive skin will not take it and gets confused by too many product layers. So I double cleanse with a hydrating cleanser from CeraVe, follow with Sensibio micellar water and then follow with the Azelaic Acid Booster mixed with moisturizer. No toner, no essence, no serum. I keep these for other days when I don't treat with actives. Hope that helps. ✌🏻
I've been battling with rosacea for most of my life (I'm 30) and what helped me the most skincare-wise is Soolantra cream and azelaic acid, but my skin is still faaar from ideal, also acne prone (niacinamide really helps with that), and I'm permanently pink on my face, so I love to try out new rosacea products :) thank you!
I feel ya I've also had rosacea most my life it's a battle for sure, my Rosacea is difficult bc I have the little capillary veins which I cannot find anything that helps with that part of the redness
I don't have rosacea but I used to have severa eczema and frequent flare-ups. For the redness, you can try using an essence to soothe it or maybe an overnight mask to rejuvenate your skin. I use the essence from Invity to help with my redness and its been doing a good job so far.
The main skincare advice I got from my dermatologist was about using sunscreen regularly. Gentle cleansing, yes, avoiding things that will cause irritation, sure, but sunscreen. Zinc oxide is also commonly used in wound care.
Agree!! Thanks for sharing! I’d love to have a derm on here as a guest :) SPF is indeed the most important thing of all. It probably should have gotten more air time! Maybe I’ll make a whole video on spf products because I have tested so many.
I’ve found that many chemical sunscreens tend to make my skin flush and get really warm (I’m pretty sure I also have rosacea), whereas physical sunscreen is soothing, thanks to the zinc. The white cast though… Love the tip about a zinc oxide mask!
@@emkn1479 I use a mineral sunscreen that has zinc and it somehow does not have a white cast after I apply it. My skin is very sensitive too but this one I'm using does not irritate my skin at all. U can try the one from Invity.

I really love your skin care routine. Will definitely try watering technique. A side note tho adding an occlusive as a final step is only good if you never added any active ingredients that can be irritating.. doing it after applying a good moisturizer is great. However adding it on top of tretinoin or retinol can cause more irritation
"I have a feeling this is always going to be the case" Yep. 42 with rosacea and it's always changing. My bro is a chemist who said it very well: when you change on thing in a system like the skin you're changing the whole ecosystem over time. That's why we have to keep changing it up. We are altering the whole ecosystem and the underlying mechanisms are still active because they are not addressable at this point--rosacea is not fully understood.
I resolved my rosacea by water fasting 8 years ago. It has never returned so I guess I can say I'm cured. People just fail to realize the enormous benefits of fasting, both preventative and curative. Our bodies know how to heal ( look up Autophagy) in the absence of food which requires lots of energy to process. We need downtime. Humans are designed to feast and fast but we don't do the latter anymore so are missing out on our built-in ability to heal.
Thank you for sharing! I have pretty severe fragrance allergies, and allergies to citrus oils and a few other ingredients. You're the first person I've seen share skincare options that actually work for sensitive skin.
I have acne-type rosacea and azelaic acid helps the acne symptoms, but not the redness. If acne isn't an issue, I can see why someone wouldn't see a difference with the azelaic acid. Thanks for this video, and I'm going to rewatch it when I can take notes!
Thanks for sharing! It’s funny how azelaic acid is really touted as the rosacea cure, but I totally agree: helps more with acne/ texture than redness. Glad I’m not alone!
i had mild rosacea very similar to yours and i also found azelaic acid did not help, though it did help with fading post-inflammatory marks. however, i now use the 2% niacinamide + propolis serum from boj and honestly the results are amazing and were visible from the first week. i highly recommend it over any other niacinamide serums, because a lot of them have 10% concentration which for me was very irritating and even made my redness worse
Such a great unbelievable result. See you invested so much time and money during this road. Girl you made me to believe İ can make my skin great again too. Thank you. Will follow your advices and experiment myself.
This is so good! Thank you! Adapalene and tretinoin have been game changers for me. Keeping it simple with everything else and one active in the morning, which is the thing I explore with as well. Plus always sunscreen! Xx
Using nappy (diaper) rash cream with zinc oxide on your face is actually supported by at least 1 dermatologist on the internet hahaha. Look up Dr Shereene Idriss - she's a huge fan of zinc oxide cream on the face.
Awww yayyy!!! Thank you-this makes me so happy to hear. When I googled it, I only found some quotes of dermatologists recommending not to do it haha but I keep coming back to it because I love my skin with it :)
I have an extremely hormonal acne and my skin is also pretty oily and sensitive so It's hard to find products that would work for me but recently I've been using the krave beauty's oil la la and I loveeeee how it's like an all in one product cause it balances my sebum production, prevents future beakouts and it even helps with acne marks and hyperpigmentation. Compare to other acne products that I've used, it's one of the few that seems to works for hormonal acne.
Omg! I subscribed instantly! First: your personality is beautiful, i would listen to you all day long! Second: i use or have used most of the products you talk about and i love them. I have sensitive skin too. On that note, i gotta leave one more brand here, cause you and other people here might benefit. The brand is Cos de Baha and the one absolutely amazing product i always use is the Cos de Baha Toner with Peptide si Argireline, 200 ml. It is in a dark brown large bottle, it is inexpensive, it has the texture of a serum and it does wonders for sensitive skin. I am leaving it here cause i also use the skin 1004 and Beauty of Joseon products and i have realised that after using them, finding something just as good or better becomes a hard task...well, Cos de Baha was one that "wooowed" me not only with quality, but also with pricing. I honestly hope it helps other people too! Sending much love to all of you!
One more product: I saw that you use zinc baby cream as a mask, i used to do that too and then A-derma products showed up. I donno if they are available where you live, this is a french brand, i can find it in almost any farmacy in Europe. The cream is A-derma Dermalibour+ repairing cica with copper and zinc. It is also thought for baby care, so it contains no perfume, it is very thick so i often use it as a mask. This is something i forgot to say in my previous comment, i use no perfume in my skincare cause it makes my skin itchy and i think it also influences my hormones. I only put perfume on clothing sometimes, not very often though. What i find interesting is that my skin doesn't react to essential oils so i am lucky that way, i can use essential oils instead of perfumes. Ok, enough ranting, thank you for your informative video, sending much love your way!❤
@@Vetriyas Yes, for Cos de Baha toner. It is super safe even around the eyes, it is very soothing, just don't use it on open wounds. When I have open wounds I use an antibacterial product there, one that dries, but doesn't further irritate and I drink a lot of water( I use pimple products only locally and I prefer using baby oil with zinc and copper for drying pimples, instead of harsh products specifically for acne). I have sensitive normal to mixed skin. The cream is also great, however, I don't use it regularly, I use it when I feel the skin irritated. What do I mean by that? Even oily or mixed skin sometimes lacks humidity and gets itchy. When I feel like my skin gets like that I use a toner, then an active(like niacinamide, or copper peptide, or vitamin C - i think you can try smth specifically for acne as well, just make sure it is not too harsh - I sometimes use tretinoin, but I make sure I have no open wounds on the face ) and then I wait for 15 minutes and add a layer of the A-derma cream. This seals the other ingredients in, making the actives more efficient and preventing the water loss. The reason it usually works for anybody is that this cream helps your skin heal itself while keeping the surface of the skin clean and providing it with nourishing ingredients like copper and zinc. If I were you, I would first try it once in a 1-2 hours mask while watching a movie or smth instead of leaving it overnight. On oily skin I would use it only after cleaning the skin well, and that means a natural home made mask that works for you, or a low ph cleanser that cleans the pores well, or both. I should add that i always look for products with low ph, especially when my skin goes more on the oily side, because acne bacteria cannot survive in low ph. When my skin is so cray cray that it stopes responding to most things, I go back to basics. I make my own toner using up to a tablespoon of vinegar in 300ml of distilled water and only use that + low ph cleanser for a few days.(sidenote: if you don't have a water distiller, use filtered water or get some rose water or any plant water that your skin likes, those are made by distillation as well). Vinegar lowers the ph. You can also use it in masks. Keep learning and keep trying things, your skin will "tell" you what it likes and what not. And most importantly, "love your skin into health", make sure it knows you are it's friend by avoiding harsh stuff like rubbing alcohol. As a sidenote, also look into retinoids(tretinoin and retinaldehide are my fav), MSM(helps rebuilding tissue in atrophic scars, it really helps people with acne scars, even though you do not hear much about it; internal and external use) , dry oils(like avocado and rosehip oil). essential oils(lavender is a gift from nature, look up the studies) and ingredients that you usually find in scar creams, like silicone, onion extract, etc. Sending much love your way!❤
Hi, I'm 23 and figuring out what works for my acne. I simply love your scientific approach on this, it helps me understand so much more in a much simpler way. Thank you!
I absolutely adore anything with mugwort in it. I also have rosacea-prone, acne-prone skin but it's a bit more dry and a bit less sensitive, or rather my skin gets really sensitive when it's dry. I also lean towards all-over, smaller impurities and pimples over clusters of breakouts. I have mugwort in my mask, in my cleanser and in my morning moisturizer. If I could afford it in my essences, it'd be a part of that too. It's so soothing, I want it in everything! I also love licorice root and ferments. They make my skin happy.
@@TheScienceofSelfCare I can’t recommend the Peach Slices Azelaic Acid serum enough! I didn’t like the Paula’s Choice one either (for multiple reasons), but the Peach Slices one is a beautiful formulation. I also love that it has mugwort which kinda gives it a bit of a cooling effect on the skin (I assume that’s due to its anti-inflammatory properties).
You’re ahead of the curve! I just watched a dermatologist use a diaper rash cream on her face just like this and she explained the zinc oxide has healing properties so using it on damaged barriers is exactly what it was created for.
Ahhhhhh yes. This is SO validating because I googled it and only found articles with derms saying not to do this haha 🙏 but I just keep going back due to the positive results. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to dip my toes into this one by using it to spot mask on blemishes to see if it speeds healing time. But lately I've noticed zinc oxide showing up in the ingredients list of more and more skincare products so I think there's something to it.
Diaper rash cream is how I cleared up my severe rosacea. I refused to take antibiotics because I don't lie the side effects, so I came across someone who suggested the diaper rash cream. It took4-6 weeks of wearing it every night and it went away. I still have minor flare ups when I get in the sun, but otherwise my skin has stayed clear.
Thank you so much 🥰 very happy this was valuable in some way! I recently uploaded my current nighttime routine with tretinoin-I love it!! 👇🤍 I tried Tretinoin for 6 months-the most potent skincare according to research?? th-cam.com/video/s76VQfZ9_Lo/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for sharing! I get severe rosacea and use a lot of the same products. My main issue is that with the inflammation, my skin barrier totally breaks down and the inflamed spots would peel multiple times a day. The Paula’s choice azelaic acid was the first thing I found that helped. I also started using Weleda skin food out of desperation (I use it on my body for KP), which I would have never done before because of the fragrance, but it was the only thing that proctected my face enough to let my skin barrier rebound. I’m now on the rx 15% azelaic acid from my dermatologist, and it works even better. Love cerave and beauty of Joseon, too!
instead of the pure zinc cream as last step you should try : Avène Cicalfate+ Crème . Also has a zinc blend in it. And it did wonders to my skin regards to healing
Zinc oxide is actually really good for acne, I've been using Sudocrem for years usually just putting little dots over spots that are forming but I've never done a full mask. I might have to try!
I can attest to the healing benefits of the zinc oxide mask ! works great. I have the same skin type oily rosacea and acne prone. My holy grail product (which I know I’m going to get slack for but I stand by it) is Dr Barbara Sturm calming serum. If that’s too expensive wishtrend soothing ampoule is a good alternative. I also love sulfur !
@@frostflower5555 i like to use sulfur as a wash off mask bc it’s anti inflammatory. You have to find the sweet spot of how many applications and how long . If you use it too long or too often it can make the situation worse. but i like De La Cruz sulfur acne treatment. If you have no budget the sturm calming mask and red light is amazing.
12:50 In Argentina we call diaper cream “pasta lassar”, and when I was younger, my grandmother use to apply a little bit of it on my pimples, and it really worked!!! Thanks for reminding me of that hack 😍
One thing I will say is from what I’ve learned in “skintuation” is that toners are generally a scam and an unneeded process. It does nothing but irritate my skin personally, and having cut that step of my routine (and wearing sunscreen daily) has helped me immensely. A/B testing is a great way to get to know what works best. I might need to invest in a good sun hat though! Thank you for this video! ❤
@@GrapevineTexas111 She talked about it in the video. A/B testing per example is tester that new moisturizer on the half of your face, and keeping your old moisturizer the other half, to better compare.
“Skin flooding” with toners is a skincare technique that is used in Korea. The eastern world has a different approach to skincare that is about moisture and hydration to restore the skin. Whereas in the west we take a treatment approach. Toners have blown up on social media because everyone wants that “glass skin” look. You can achieve it with toners!
@@cynthia-jo1zz it depends, everyone has differents needs. My sensitive reactive and rosacea skin reacts too easily on serums and toners, it's a nono for me and I too see it like marketimg for most of us.
Month ago I watched this video a few times and planned what I’ll get feom what you recommended and OH MY GOD My skin looks so good now!!! I got skin 1004 cream, serum, foam cleanser and a toner + I also got BOJ retinal eye cream Thank you so much for sharing your skin care products and for sharing your experience ❤
Yayyy!! This comment makes me day ✨🥰 I truly believe glowing skin is achievable through the right skincare - not just genetics. We just need to find our own, unique routine 💖 so happy you’ve found what works for you! And I really appreciate you coming back here to report your results! Much love, Robin
I cannot thank you enough for the diaper rash cream idea. I tried one, from a french pharmacy, with little ingredients except water, zinc and sweet almond oil. This IS AMAZING. Since I simplified my skincare with : azelaic acid cream x2/day, the diaper cream a few days a week, no-soap cleanser, and quitting sugar (!), my face is NO LONGER FILLED WITH PUSTULES that were appearing randomly and linked to rosacea. This is amazing. Thank you, thank God.
Ahhh!! 👏👏👏 Thank you so much for reporting back. 💖 this absolutely makes my day. It’s the BEST feeling to have calm, balanced skin… especially when it doesn’t cost a fortune! Out of curiosity, what is the French brand of zinc cream you’ve been using called?
@@TheScienceofSelfCare The brand is Biolane. Name of the product, in French : Crème change. It's cheap, a few euros (4€ ?) on the internet, but I live in France. Apart from the previous ingredients, there is of course preservatives, PH regulating ingredients, etc :)
I’ve used zinc oxide creams for over 25 years. They can be a bit thick so for oilier skins, you can also use calamine lotion. It will dry out a little so it’s the opposite of using it for an occlusive layer. But it’s amazing for skin with a lot of acne. Discovered it by accident when I was using it for chickenpox. It was the only thing I used as a teenager that has any real affect on my acne.
if anyone has redness on face/body please make sure to get checked by a doctor to make sure you are not autoimmune, for years i didnt need a skincare routine or anything but suddenly i ended up with rosacea at the age of 20 (but i also had other symptoms like a burning sensation in my knees and joints) , i then got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at 23
After following so many influencers raving about different skin products, trying them out and nothing working as good as I would have liked, I just gave up and went to the dermatologist. She prescribed me adapalene and my skin instantly got so much better. I still get one or two pimples when I get my period and I have hyperpigmentation to deal with (which is also slowly getting cleared by adapalene) but my acne is almost nonexistent. I used to get huge cysts. I also use the SKIN1004 Centella Ampoule and my skin really loves centella. I keep my routines really simple; double cleanse at night, adapalene at night, calming serum, moisturizer and sunscreen in the morning. I see no point in doing 15 step routines. Aint nobody got time for that. No doubt, part of the reason why my acne is so bad unless I apply adapalene is because I have hashimoto and my immune system is constantly inflamed. Im still trying to lower my antibodies, change my diet and lifestyle but it can be really hard changing so many aspects of your life that you were used to for years.
Thank you! And my pleasure :) In case you’re interested, I just posted my 6 month review on tretinoin (the strongest form of topical vitamin A) 🤍👇 th-cam.com/video/s76VQfZ9_Lo/w-d-xo.html
Some azelaic acid formulas itch! I don't personally like the PC version because it not only itches but also stinks! If you want to try another OTC brand, I highly recommend the one from Peach Slices. For more efficacy, I'd shoot for a prescription strength of at least 15%, which is the minimum used in studies that showed benefit, though plenty of people get results at 10%. BUT now you can find OTC products inching up to hit the 14% cap, which I'll be trying out next (don't really care for the texture of prescription formulas).
Proactiv Azelaic Pore Protector has more gentle buffering ingredients it uses 5% Azelaic which helps my skin the PC 10% & the Peach Slices 10% can be too aggressive for my rosacea
I was really sceptical about this routine as I've used others, always very hopeful for results and never working quite as well as I hope or not working at all. I have very sensitive and dry skin, I've only implemented a few products but so far I'm seeing a huge difference. If you have sensitive skin this works.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate you sharing your experience as a fellow sensitive-skin owner. 😊 Out of curiosity: which steps or products have you found particularly helpful? I love hearing about others’ routines since I only have one face to test things on myself!
Rosacea with sensitive skin. So frustrating when Derms tell me "You shouldn't have a reaction to CeraVe and Cetaphil". I can't use either. Super irritating to my skin. Ponds with fragrance is fine, I don't know how, but I'm sure I can't use those products.
Thank you for sharing! It’s great to hear that you are listening to your own body and skin. That’s so important. There are plenty of “clean” products that don’t work for me-also not sure why. :) I’ll have a look at the ingredients of cetaphil and see if there’s anything potentially irritating. In theory, anything can become irritating to our skin if our body decides to react against it. ❤️
This is one of the more well-put together skincare videos out there. Props to you! I'm inspired to try the zinc oxide baby ointment. I wonder if one uses zinc oxide sunscreen, if that would be too much or redundant. At any rate, It's sounds like a really good idea to use zinc on the skin!
Your routine is almost identical to mine. Other things I do is add an IBS probiotic (super strength) which helps with balancing the gut, also I use Avene Cicalfate cream as my occlusive step as it contains a lot of zinc anyways! Youll get your two last steps in one :) I reccomend trying the skin1004 centella ampoule, its like the toner but pure centella and is absolutely incredible at moisturising when layered.
Thank you! I’ve already rewatched this several times. Love the editing, the aesthetics of the channel and highly educational content. Im in my late 20s and have no skincare routine. Which step would you recommend experiment with first?
Get a good cleanser, depending on your skin type. If you have dry skin, get a cream cleanser, i recommend double cleansing (oil cleanser before cream cleanser). Then get a rich moisturiser that is safe for sensitive skin. After, apply sunscreen with spf 50, even if you are not going out. For me, I use more products for my routine but to start, I think these 3 would be good for you. I recommend getting the mineral sunscreen from Invity.
Alright .. so I am ahead in my skincare journey and just came across this video. I have been doing exactly what you’re doing and use somewhat the same products and I have noticed a big difference in my skin. You all this video is actually very informative and this skincare regimen absolutely works !!!
Just putting it out there-subliminal affirmations for acne and skin problems on Borlest work wonders. If you’ve never tried it, now’s the time. You’ll be amazed at the difference!
Have you ever had perioral dermatitis? Just asking since I‘m dealing with it for years now and I havent found anything that helped… And I tried A LOT. 😞
My must-have skin tools are 1) an LED mask, 2) a Microcurrent device, and 3) a high-frequency wand. I ponied up a lot for a TriPollar RF, but I haven't used it consistently enough to recommend it. Love getting new skin recommendations. Trying the diaper cream tip first!
I recently read about the zinc oxide thing. I recently added castor oil to my routine. I'm 43 so lines and wrinkles are my concern. Also I seem to need glycolic acid once a week. But the castor oil is so amazing and it feels very calming. I love it.
I have Blepharitis and skin issues linked to rosacea, and I find using the sauna to be the single most beneficial thing for my skin, second to that exercising enough to sweat a lot, and avoiding coffee, sugar and dairy milk. I use something called Dermol 500 when I get out of the shower or after I shave, useful especially in the corners of my eyes because it's safe enough to use on my eyelids. Also honey seems to help, not eating it but putting it on my skin for 5 minutes before getting a shower.
YES!! I’m glad you brought this up. I forgot to mention this, but saunas help my skin SO much. Many skin specialists have told me to stay away from saunas because “it would exacerbate my rosacea”.. but for me, this is not the case. Just goes to show that we are all different and it’s up to us to find what works best for our bodies. I’ll check out the Dermol 500. Thanks for sharing!
Consider going to 15% or 20% Azelaic acid my husband and I use Azelaic acid in our routine he has rosacea and I have melasma. He uses 10% twice a day and his skin loves it, it did nothing for me I started using 15% and I began to see changes but it wasn’t until I constantly used 20% only once a day that it literally transformed my skin now I can’t live without it. I am 48 yrs old and my skin has never looked better
@@ashgreyorsilvermy husband uses Cos de BAHA Azelaic 10% serum, morning and night. I used Finacea Azelaic acid 15% but eventually settled on AZCLEAR Azelaic acid 20% once a day at night. For me the 20% worked better but go slow as it can cause irritations. Azelaic acid can tingle when you first start using but it shouldn’t burn. Azelaic acid plays very well with other actives and I use my with retinol no problem but start using a lower dosage and twice a week first and build up gently.
My Melasma has been more difficult to treat and at times I feel like my treatment is not really working, but my daughter assures me that the melasma is getting better. The truth is that melasma is really complex and unless you are willing to use hydroquinone it’s a multi challenge problem. I still battling with my melasma so not sure if my routine is working
40 yr old here with excellent skin. My routine overall is very simple and time efficient. The two things that have been a major game changer for me were .. 1. NOT CLEANSING MY FACE IN THE MORNING and 2. WEARING A MINERAL SUNBLOCK TO BED. I double cleanse at night and apply my skincare. In the morning I wash my face with water only. Then I apply my sunblock and I’m done. I don’t use a moisturizer in the morning either. Since I’m not washing off my skincare and natural oils that develop overnight, I don’t need a moisturizer. To cleanse at night, I first start with slathering on coconut oil all over and I rub that in for about few min. I wipe that off (it helps remove the sunblock or make up), then I follow with cleanser. Pat dry, then I apply my skincare. Less is more when it comes to healthy skin. Keep it simple and always wear a sunblock. ❤
I had vbeam laser in feb and it’s hands down the best £250 I spent on my skin for rosacea. I’m shocked. Yes it hurts, and you look worse for about a week but then…amazing!
I’m determined not to spend another dollar on products until I’ve made a notebook full of research. 😂 I /thought/ I understood everything but I just realized my skin barrier is perpetually damaged; I just learned about humectants/occlusives/emollients LAST NIGHT; then there’s actives and essential oils and stuff that personally irritates my skin and I just stress-bought the Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream and Mist. At least I’m getting closer to narrowing things down, but I’m about ready to just slap some Aloe Gel on, follow with Jojoba oil, and then cover with Aquaphor. Don’t get me wrong, skin care is fun for me and a calming hobby of sorts, but sometimes it’s just 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😭. Why does water want to vacate my body so bad?????? 😂
Haha skincare is such a crazy journey! Sounds like you are on the right track with your explorations! Thanks for sharing ✨ Can’t personally speak to dry skin.. my face turns into an oil slick by the end of the day 😅
Holy moly, finally someone w the same skin as me LMFAO. Centella is heaven sent! Also mucin and birchsap gel cream! Highly recommend. Aha bha toner spray also amazing! (Yeah cosrx really suits my almost yours skin type)
I have moderate Atopic Dermatitis + Type 1 skin on the verge of albino, and I live in the middle east which is pretty challenging to my super sensitivite skin. All that adds up and as a result I can't do as many steps 😑 It's a bummer. I love pampering myself with good skincare. It's such a fun way to show yourself love and unwind. So I started doing it for others. My mother and sisters in-law, friends and even my husband. Its really satisfying.
Thank you for sharing ❤️ It sounds quite challenging to deal with such sensitive skin. It seems like you’ve found a really beautiful alternative: that you’re able to pamper others through skincare! I can imagine that’s a wonderful way to bond with loved ones. I think I will try that as well! Thank you for the inspiration.

I'm not a skincare geek but one thing that i know that most of people get confused between bacteria and fungus and most of times they use harsh products that kills the bacteria not the fungus and they think bacteria is bad but they actually destroy their skin by killing bacteria, also i really like the way you structured this video, very organized and to the point, keep up Robin!
what kills fungus then!
Indeed. What kills fungus?
Ketaconazole shampoo - can be used on face.
Zinc soap helped my skin and is less harsh than ketoconazole
@@Eric.Kennedy My partner has awful eczema (or something) on his face atm. Would it help, do you think?
I love that you didn't start out with a focus on the exact skincare you use but more on your philosophy and how it has helped you find things that work. It's always great to see what someone uses but skincare is so individual that knowing how to figure out what works for you is more helpful. I also like how affordable the products are in your routine, proof that you don't need to spend a ton of money to see improvements. I'm very interested in the zinc oxide and at home IPL steps, definitely going to experiment with those.
Your skin is absolutely radiant
My night time routine:
1. Cleansing balm/oil - cerave/bioderma
2. Cleanser - La Roche Posay Toleriane
3. Real Barrier Cica relief toner
4. Copper peptide serum from The Ordinary
5. Azelaic acid from the Inkey List
6. Geek & Gorgeous retinal
7. The inkey list bio-active moisturizer (if I am extra dry in winter I will use cosrx snail mucin essence under the cream)
Day
1. Water splash
2. I have a priming toner from a local brand (basiclab) for sensitive/rosacea skin
3. Azelaic
4. Antioxidant serum with tetra vitamin C or Niod Survival 0
5. Aveeno calm + restore moisturizer or Cerave or the inkey list peptide moisturizer
6. SPF (Eucerin Sensitive mineral or Rovectin mineral)
Apis oferuje 30% kwasu 😊
I am coming to Poland next week for a few months! Where do you find the Aveeno Calm & Restore? I love it and I'm almost out.
I am about to do the same and i am very excited! My rosacea is so bad currently
What rosacea type are you and did you also have oily skin?
Are you also using the Skin1004 toning toner? I bought it as I thought it was a serum/toner with centella aciatica, only to find out it is a mild (Pha) exfoliant. I also have rosacea and I'm a bit scared with exfoliating everyday.
Dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss talks about using a diaper cream as the final step for the same healing properties you talked about. She just posted about it. She calls it “basting”. I’ve been doing it for about a month now and LOVE it. I also use a zinc sunscreen so knew my skin loved zinc.
I love heeeer! I Just came here to talk about the basting video and to see if anyone else would comment on that lmao
I tried Triple Paste at her suggestion. Best $5 suggestions ever!

@@TheScienceofSelfCaredo u have dry eyes as well ?
if youre looking for a zinc cream that is unscented and cheap, check the baby section at your local drugstore, often diaper rash cream is basically zinc cream and since its for babies it's unscented.

Step 1: as a cleanser I use Cetaphil, sometimes I add a little baking soda to it
Step 2: applying a face oil (I use a vitamin E oil)
Step 3: moisturizing my skin with Cetaphil moisturizing cream
Step 4: applying a thin layer of sudocrem (gently tapping it into the skin, leave it on all night)
I also recommend using a face mask 2 times a week made from baking soda and water.
I've never thought about baking soda, but it actually makes a lot of sense! Thanks!
wont baking soda strip your skin though?
I also have rosacea and have had trouble finding products that really help. I think you’re spot on about alcohol and essential oils. One product that I resisted for a long time but that has really helped to get rid of some nagging redness is the CosRX Snail Mucin. It works like magic! Plus a urea based toner and Sachi Pro Resilience Serum. Good luck on your skin care journey! I really enjoy your videos.
Ivermectina 1%
Cosrx is great ❤
I use that too as well as The Ordinarys Suspension 10% Azelaic acid , the only thing that has gotten rid of my redness
Which urea based toner do you use?
I have been using the same methodology for about 6 months after visiting 10-12 derms who are like, "Meh, it's acne."
Spoiler: It was not acne.
❤. I'm sorry you also had to struggle, but when the "one size fits all approach" doesn't fit, we've got to take matters into our own hands!
how interesting! would love to know what are some of the major ingredients or brands you've found benefit from. i'm genuinely curious
Sorry, I'm not sure why there is a strikethrough in my comment. It's not supposed to be there!
I think I may have a similar skin issue also after a virus (covid). I am seeing so many doctors without any answers 😩

SPF is indeed the most important thing of all.

I really love your skin care routine. Will definitely try watering technique. A side note tho adding an occlusive as a final step is only good if you never added any active ingredients that can be irritating.. doing it after applying a good moisturizer is great. However adding it on top of tretinoin or retinol can cause more irritation
"I have a feeling this is always going to be the case"
Yep.

Instead you get clindamycin & nicotinamide treatment...not azelaic acid.. it can be found over the counter I guess.
Thanks for sharing! It’s funny how azelaic acid is really touted as the rosacea cure, but I totally agree: helps more with acne/ texture than redness. Glad I’m not alone!
This video has helped me so much! Thank you very much for sharing, my rosaceo+acne skin loves you!
Yayy that makes me so happy!
Enjoy playing and experimenting ❤️🧴🫧
i had mild rosacea very similar to yours and i also found azelaic acid did not help, though it did help with fading post-inflammatory marks. however, i now use the 2% niacinamide + propolis serum from boj and honestly the results are amazing and were visible from the first week. i highly recommend it over any other niacinamide serums, because a lot of them have 10% concentration which for me was very irritating and even made my redness worse
You can also try Rosen Clearing Concentrate. It’s a zinc oxide based overnight treatment. Works wonders for me.
Ohhhh!! Love this recommendation. Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️
Xx
This was exactly what I needed! Loving these tips. Excited for more!
Using nappy (diaper) rash cream with zinc oxide on your face is actually supported by at least 1 dermatologist on the internet hahaha. Look up Dr Shereene Idriss - she's a huge fan of zinc oxide cream on the face.
She’s my hero. Her advice has completely changed my skin.
Awww yayyy!!! Thank you-this makes me so happy to hear. When I googled it, I only found some quotes of dermatologists recommending not to do it haha but I keep coming back to it because I love my skin with it :)
Can’t wait to check our Dr. Shereene Idriss 🙏❤️
@@TheScienceofSelfCareyeah you'll be a skin nerd in no time hehe

Ok, enough ranting, thank you for your informative video, sending much love your way!❤
Wil it suit oily skin type
Ohhh ✨ I’ve heard good things about mugwort and have seen it in a lot of Korean skincare but have yet to dive in myself! Thanks for the inspo :)
This is SO validating because I googled it and only found articles with derms saying not to do this haha 🙏
but I just keep going back due to the positive results. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. I'm going to dip my toes into this one by using it to spot mask on blemishes to see if it speeds healing time. But lately I've noticed zinc oxide showing up in the ingredients list of more and more skincare products so I think there's something to it.
And you've been doing it for a year now

Diaper rash cream is how I cleared up my severe rosacea. I refused to take antibiotics because I don't lie the side effects, so I came across someone who suggested the diaper rash cream. It took4-6 weeks of wearing it every night and it went away. I still have minor flare ups when I get in the sun, but otherwise my skin has stayed clear.

Your skin type
Learned so much from this! My skin is in for a treat. Can't wait for the next video!
instead of the pure zinc cream as last step you should try : Avène Cicalfate+ Crème .
Sulfur is used for rosacea? Where do you get this cream?
A/B ?
@@GrapevineTexas111 She talked about it in the video. A/B testing per example is tester that new moisturizer on the half of your face, and keeping your old moisturizer the other half, to better compare.
Speak for yourself....for us toners are a must.
Month ago I watched this video a few times and planned what I’ll get feom what you recommended and OH MY GOD

Apart from the previous ingredients, there is of course preservatives, PH regulating ingredients, etc :)
thank you so much! I’ll definitely look into it 🙏🥰

Can you please share everything you do to keep your rosacea under control at soothe it? You know diet, exercise, supplements, other lifestyle things
It was the only thing I used as a teenager that has any real affect on my acne.
if anyone has redness on face/body please make sure to get checked by a doctor to make sure you are not autoimmune,
for years i didnt need a skincare routine or anything but suddenly i ended up with rosacea at the age of 20 (but i also had other symptoms like a burning sensation in my knees and joints) , i then got diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at 23
Yes, there’s a link between Celiac disease (autoimmune disorder) and rosacea as well
After following so many influencers raving about different skin products, trying them out and nothing working as good as I would have liked, I just gave up and went to the dermatologist.
I’m healing by looking at you 😍. Your smile, dimple and voice 🥰 lovely ♥️♥️♥️ Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏻♥️

Out of curiosity: which steps or products have you found particularly helpful? I love hearing about others’ routines since I only have one face to test things on myself!
Rosacea with sensitive skin. So frustrating when Derms tell me "You shouldn't have a reaction to CeraVe and Cetaphil". I can't use either. Super irritating to my skin. Ponds with fragrance is fine, I don't know how, but I'm sure I can't use those products.
Thank you for sharing! It’s great to hear that you are listening to your own body and skin. That’s so important. There are plenty of “clean” products that don’t work for me-also not sure why. :)
I’ll have a look at the ingredients of cetaphil and see if there’s anything potentially irritating.
Wow I enjoyed reading your comment.
Can you share your skin care routine?
Thank you! I’ve already rewatched this several times. Love the editing, the aesthetics of the channel and highly educational content. Im in my late 20s and have no skincare routine. Which step would you recommend experiment with first?
hey! the first 3 things you should do are: cleansing, using sunscreen protection in the morning and a moisturizer in the evening

I love it.
How long does Castor oil last before expiring? I want to try it
I have Blepharitis and skin issues linked to rosacea, and I find using the sauna to be the single most beneficial thing for my skin, second to that exercising enough to sweat a lot, and avoiding coffee, sugar and dairy milk.

I haven’t tried this one!! Great rec-thank you so much for sharing. 🙏❤️ excited to experiment 👩🔬✨
40 yr old here with excellent skin.
My routine overall is very simple and time efficient.
The two things that have been a major game changer for me were ..
1. NOT CLEANSING MY FACE IN THE MORNING and
In lieu of sunblock take Astaxanthin (12 mg daily)
Acts as an internal sunscreen.
