    As a retinol user, not a Tret, after 2 years and a half, i finally achieved what i wanted to achieve. Slowly but surely, i have 8 staple ingredients in my skin care: Retinol 3x week , Niacinamide, Ceramides, Hyaluronic acid + Peptides, BHA 1x week, AHA 1x 2 weeks, and of course, Suncreen everyday.

      What is BHA and AHA?

    • @lonelyboyxo
      @lonelyboyxo 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +63

      @evadeanu1 BHA = Salicylic Acid (clears out pores, congested skin: mainly for normal/mixed/oily blemishes/acne prone skin)
      AHA = Glycolic, Lactic, Mandelic Acid (clears out dead skin cells to help with texture, smoother and brighter skin, amazing for acne scar, BUT damages your skin barrier, so balancing your routine with Niacinamide & Ceramides to speed up healing process, ALSO LOVED by dry skin girlie)

    I'm 18 and i am using tret for 6 months straight. One of my friends aunt started at 20, she's now 52. Most of em think she must be 25 or 30 max. I asked her about the secrets, she spilled it all. Morning skincare, she uses foaming face wash, vitamin c, sunscreen, mineral powder and eyeliner ( yes, she mostly doesn't wear make up). Night time, gentle cleanser, niacinamide 5, tret 0.05, lip balm (boroline), indian brand works high end, castor oil for lashes and brows ( similar to jennifer's routine only). Along with this, she cooks her own meals, tracks her calories, macros and micros religiously, goes to gym 4 to 5 times a week, she also does yoga. Consumes omega 3 pill, nac, vitamin c and eats a lot of veggies and fishes, does intermittent fasting, sleeps 8 hours a day no matter what, has a work from home job ( remote) which she absolutely loves. So yeah, there's a reason why she aged this gracefully.
    Edit: she's a married childfree woman.

    At 18 years old, I started wearing sunscreen. Morning routine: soft cleanser, toner, vitamin c + hyaluronic serum, moisturizer cream, vitamin c oil, sunscreen. Night routine: soft cleanser, toner, (glycolic acid 1x a week), niacinamide + hyaluronic serum, moisturizer cream. At 20, I started using tretinoin cream 0.025% once a week with my moisturizer, and my skin has stayed youthful for what feels like forever. I’m 58, and everyone thinks I’m 27-33, but this wasn’t all tretinoin. I became vegetarian at 20, eat plenty of veggies, take supplements, go to the gym 4-5 times a week, focus on my relationships, and try new things. my best advice for the youth, is to prioritize your self. Buy things that are an investment for yourself. Those supplements may cost you $60 today, but save your life tomorrow. Nobody has a problem when they spend $60 on fast food. 😂❤

The amount of compliments I get for my skin is insane, and people don't notice this, but my face is firmer, my eyelids are tighter and with no folds. One of my challenges has been the fact that my skin stated to shine, not because of oil, but because the skin is plain and therefore it reflects more the light.
    I watched your videos when I was starting, here in Brazil you don't need a prescription to get tretnoin, what makes my responsibility bigger.

It all started due to acne and, once healed, I stayed for their antiaging properties. Consistency over intensity has been the mantra. Plus, it "forced" me to use sunscreen 365 in the wild 90’ s, when it was not a normalized habit yet. Not to talk about my body skin, straight up sorcery😉✨

    100% agree with the hat recommendation. I have been using tret for over 2 decades and wear a spf as well as vit c. If I do not wear a hat, pigmentation will pop up if I am out in the blazing sun for too long. But with a hat, no problem. (my hat has sun protection as well) I think it is also worth noting that your healthy skin is also down to lifestyle, exercise and what you eat. Tretinoin will not do it all. Love your channel and started making our own bone broth at our home. As a person with Celiac Disease, it has really helped with my gut health. We feel and see the positive effects much more than the usual collagen drinks. So thanks for the how-to video on that as well!

      I'm thinking of taking a vitamin c supplement. Is wearing a hat really necessary? I know you said pigmentation will pop up if in the sun for a long amount of time, but I have really big curly hair. I can't get a hat over my head and I don't want to braid my hair all the time to do so. So will the hyperpigmentation still be a problem if I reapply sunscreen throughout the day?

    Hey, I m 21 year old man from India
    I used to had Severe acne in my teenage which almost vanished by the time i was 18-19, i never got it treated and out of immaturity i always pinched them leading to end number of acne scars all over my face today
    I started to take care of myself last year only in August, i binged watched end number of videos of different ingredients in beauty industry and booked everything that could make my skin better.
    I also saw your video of past experiences and everything on retinoid-tretin
    I made my day and night care disciplined and consistent, i made a routine of ingredients as per particular day it is and sticked to it, that routine suited me well and within 3 months i had alot better skin but the scars were still very much visible.
    it was December when i finally stepped towards retinol application, i started with 1% serum application once a week, i kept the routine for three months

    • @SharedAccount-yz9zb
      @SharedAccount-yz9zb 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      Those three months definately improved my skin texture but it still wasn't enough and i was only using serum to make my skin withstand a full fledged retinoid liek tretinoin, In March i finnally ordered tretinoin 0.05% (sadly i didn't got 0.0025% in the market) i started applying once a week and m still continuing it as once a week and to my surprise i didn't got any sort of irritation or redness except skin peeling, its there and slugging once a week really helps to counter it. My Acne scars have 40% reduced and i know rest will take 1-2 years easily but i m really happy that my technique with the help of you and other good youtubers brought me results.
      Thankyou 😄🙏

    Yes, but tretinoide is not everything.
    Your face is full (you have no visible volume loss) and your face is wide which is like 50% of the youthful-looking factors.
    And that is not due to any vitamin A derivate products. Rétinoïdes can only treat the skin, not the fat pads, not the fascia, not the smas, not the bones.
    Tell us what you do for the volume of your face.
    How many wrinkle-free faces looking old do we see on social media in celebrities lol? They might have no wrinkles but the saginess and hollowness say it all about their ages.
    Wrinkles is only a small part of aging.

      She does talk about controlling her expressions to not encourage wrinkles in one video. Also, she eats healthy and probably works out. 1- do you think that your Asian skin helped you as additional point to get a firm and healthy skin?
    2- do you use any kind of serum like vitamin c or niacinamide or exfoliation in your daily routine?
    3- do you take any supplements like d3 or vitamin c or minerals ?

    I've using tret for 1 year and half now, I had a deep smile line and now it has faded into fine line. How amazing. I'll keep using tret maybe for the rest of my life 😁😁
    Thanks Jennifer for encouraging me to this amazing journey! Love you 😘

    Advice grounded in reality and sincerity and not trying to sell a quick fix. Lovely.
    I must admit that I use way more than the pea size ammount, but since I have no access to stronger concentration than 0.05% I just increase the ammount of cream I use.
    I sometimes get a reddish look like if I was constantly blushing. But I don't feel irritated. Would that still mean that I should lower down the dosage?

    • @xiomarasinnis7549
      @xiomarasinnis7549 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would lower the dosage, bc the redness is signaling inflammation (I believe) and inflammation can accelerate aging.

Behind all this, I think you are an inspirational human being! Glad I came across your channel! Can’t wait to see great videos from you!
    Other than tretinoin, any other actives you use which helps with results when combined with tretinoin eventually?

    My doctor just prescribed this for me and you gave much more thorough advice and explanation. She did say to start very slow like you mentioned. Thanks for taking your time to give us your advice. Your skin is amazing and to think about taking care of your skin at such a young age is a rarity. I’m in my 60’s and my generation didn’t even promote sunscreen. We put baby oil on our skin and fried ourselves in the sun. I hope it’s not too late for me. 😊

    I’ve been on .025% Tret for almost 6 months. I’ve been blessed not to get the “uglies” even after working my way up to every night or every other but I can’t wear Vaseline or other petrolatum brands (or any eye cream) under or around my eyes. I do use it around my nose folds and on lips. I’m just very careful not to get it near the eyes. My biggest issue is finding a sunscreen. My skin has had allergic reactions to 3 mineral sunscreens-one on whole face and another, only around my eyes. I’m home bound at moment so am not outside in the sun. I try to stay in dark rooms away from windows until I can find a sunscreen my skin can tolerate because otherwise, I’m just wasting Tretinoin & potentially making my skin more prone to aging and Sun spots. I was going to pay $30 to ship Australian sunscreen to US; it seems to have the strongest, best filters (compared to US & potentially better than K or J beauty), but I’m now scared to try chemical sunscreens given how my skin is reacting to supposedly “gentler” mineral ones. It’s so odd how it doesn’t get irritated by Tretinoin but immediately reacts to sunscreen or a few hours after application. I’m at a total loss. I never had this issue before Tretinoin.

    You are the most lovely person on TH-cam. I've learned so much from you. I've started recently using retinol serum from L'oreal, just to start with something less aggressive. But I will definitely try later Tretinoin. I was just wondering if tretinoin helps also tighten the skin? Or is it just for smothering and brightening the skin? I'm on my late forties and recently I've noticed some changes in my chin line. It's not as tight as it used to be. And how you feel about face massage with or without qua sha stone? Does those massages work with anti aging, as a lot if people claim it would?

    • @johnmichaelarnaud
      @johnmichaelarnaud 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think it does help tighten the look of the skin because it increases the production of elastin as well as collagen. Obviously, gravity is going to do what gravity is going to do, but tret can help with that.

    I started using retinol over 7 years ago then tritinoin and the last couple of years I have been doing jessners and Tca peels at home it has been a game changer! I was always really good with my skincare this just sealed the deal for me. Always use spf 50 even in winter and in summer I wear a hat gloves and sometimes umbrella too. 😊

    Hi Jennifer. Love your no-nonsense content, direct and informative. Question: as a long time Tretinoin user, I have been unable to acclimate its use to the neck area (causes redness and irritation). In lieu of Tretinoin for the neck, what would you recommend with similar potency that the delicate skin on the neck can tolerate? Thank you!

    • @LauraB.335
      @LauraB.335 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Maybe try Retinaldehyde. Still vitamin A, not as strong as tretinoin, but stronger than retinol. It may take a bit longer, but it’s not nearly as irritating.

    Hi, thank you for the advice!
    I've been using tret for 5 months now and I'm really loving how it makes my skin now. My friends are also saying that my skin is better than before. Tretinoin was prescribed to me by the derma because I had a severe acne vulgaris last Feb. My night regime is cleanser, then Clindamycin for acne, then moisturizer, then tret, then moisturizer. It works really good!
