Differin® (adapalene) is an over-the-counter topical retinoid used for the treatment of acne. It may also be used for the purpose of so-called "anti-aging," as it helps to minimize and delay the premature visible signs of aging (uneven skin tone & texture, dullness, sagging skin, fine lines & wrinkles).
It is a suitable, if not ideal, treatment option for those who either don't have access to a prescribing physician (a requirement for obtaining tretinoin), as well as for those who find tretinoin to be intolerable due to its extremely harsh side effects.
I've been using adapalene since before it became available OTC - it used to be sold under prescription only - so I have many years (half my life) of tried and true experience with this product. I recommend it to anyone who wishes to introduce a retinoid into their skincare routine.
The best part about Differin® is that you can achieve the same results using it as compared with prescription-strength tretinoin; only with longer treatment time and milder side effects (making it more suitable for sensitive or highly reactive skin types).
I encourage you to explore this topical treatment option. I've found it to be not only highly effective but a pleasure to use. It is one of the reasons I continue using it and singing its praises.

You look swollen, you are a young woman n her 40s, you looked amazing in your 20s, it is a shame that you did that to your face. It is insanity, you can't even talk and you don't look good. You destroyed your face and your beauty for "glass skin" that can't even move. And your skin would have been perfect anyway, better than it is now, if you have stopped years ago and you used just a great moisturizer. You wouldn't have aged and you would look more youthfull than you do now that you are swollen.
You have mentall issues. It is not normal to put that thing to your skin when you are swollen and you can't eve move. That is for older women that is why you are swollen your whole life.
Some people have such great skin that they don't need it untill they are 70.

I have been telling my friends the same thing. I started using Differin since in my late 20s. I used to have oily skin, and I was acne prone. I started using Differin until now I’m 44 years old. I was told I still look like in my early 30s, or 35 ish. I don’t see the necessity to use so many different tretinoin or retinols. I still use it now, after cleaning my face at night, a layer of moisturizer, Differin, another layer of moisturizer and I go to sleep.
I now have almost glass skin, I became normal skin type. I got a bit hyped with all the retinol skin care products, and enjoyed playing around with them. But I went back to Differin. It’s just so many ingredients. I haven’t had acnes for a decade. I will never stop using it.

@@oishii86 I will have to admit, as Asian. Who watches a lot of western TH-camrs, I am glad that I got to know brands like CeraVe, or Vanicream etc. So my current skin care routine for PM:
I use Bioderma’s micellar water to cleanse all the dirty stuffs on my face and I just chill.
We take showers at night. I will use Vanicream’s gentle cleanser after shower, pat my face dry and put on a layer of puynkang yul’s moisturizer. Wait until my skin is dry, Differin, and then a reacher cream. I sometimes just like using Nivea (made from Germany) version. Or Pyunkang Yul’s Ampoule.
In the morning because I have normal skin, I don’t get dry or oily, I rinse me face just with water. Same stuffs as my PM routine, but not the cream, I use timeless vitamin C. and then, sunscreen! I have like 20 bottles of them, I like mix and match. Sometimes it’s boring to always have the same routine, so I like to switch my serums, or sunscreens just for fun. 😂

I started my journey with Differin about 4 years ago. I used it for over a year and then switched to tretinoin 0.05%. I have to disagree somewhat that they work equally. If anything, the effects are quite different. After using Differin for a few months, I noticed that my skin was softer and smoother feeling but it didn't necessarily look that much different. On a whim I decided to make the switch to tretinoin and that was a complete sea change. For the first time in my adult life, I stopped having oily, acne-prone skin. After a few months, my skin was finally acting "normal" at the age of 51. I have now been using it religiously (2 nights on, 1 night off) for 3 years and at the age of 54, I can safely say that I have virtually no static wrinkles/lines - just a couple of faint creases under my eyes that I am keeping tabs on.

I've been wanting to include tretinoin on my routine, I already use Glycolic acid.
      Thanks in advance 😊❤

@judith2581 It depends skin to skin, but what I did was
First, I started with tretinoin 0.5% and of course you must expect purging and peeling in the beginning. Don't over do it, I apply tretinoin and after 20 minutes I apply serum and masturizer, I want tretinoin to realy go deep down before I use other product on top of it. I alternate tretinoin /differin always same way, but I don't really have a rule, i simply look at my skin and decide which one to apply that day, but always finish with masturizer, they both have drying effect. Once a week, I use 30% glycolic peel and that day and next 2 days, after I won't be applying tretinoin or differin bcs it will be too much for my skin.
Sunscreen is a must ! Even if I go out for 2 minutes, I will apply good amount of sunscreen. If you are not committed to protecting your skin from sun all the time, you better not use tretinoin.
First, I started with tretinoin, and after 2 years, I added a differin. I'm not sure if starting both at the same time is a good idea.

I have used Adapalene before, I loved it. Will give this routine a try for a while. Do you think it would be good if I go back to Adapalene and use Tret once a week until I work my way up to alternating them (one each night)? Or is it too much?
I stopped Adapalene cuz I started using the CeraVe retinol, the light green one. So I think my skin can adjust to Tret very quickly.
About Glycolic, I have used the o e from the ordinary, it has 10%, I think I was miss using it cuz I was applying it 3 times a week.
Thanks again for sharing your tips 🫶

I use Eucerin sun screen (sensitive skill, Zinc oxide protection ) 50 spf but apparently has fragrant and I am allergic to fragrant. Do you know of any good sun screen that has no harsh chemical /without fragrance?
Also i used to use noreva foundation which was good for my sensitive skin but unfortunately i cant find this brand foundation but other cream
I'm a non smoker, non drinker and meditate which i should get better at it and keep it more consistent

I just used differin for the first time and can tolerate using it 4x a week for about a month now, do you think I will be ready for tretinoin anytime soon? Planning to get it on felix here in Canada, since I don’t have insurance.

Your skin is a living testament to its efficacy and i appreciate your honesty. I started using adapalene 0.1% gel last year after noticing a sudden loss in skin elasticity and increased wrinkles three years post menopause. It took a good six months before i noticed marked improvement but it has come. It is cheaper than many drugstore inactives and gave me no side effects.

I have been following you for several years, and your words have helped me become a more patient person. First and foremost, I sincerely thank you for that.
Ever since I started following you, I began using Tretinoina cream, which I purchased over the counter in Italy. I would like to know if you think that a cream without a prescription could be less effective compared to the prescribed one, or if it should have the same effectiveness.
Additionally, I'm curious to know if tretinoin cream can effectively reduce the appearance of large pores.

I was on Differin for 8+ years and I had great glass like skin but still broke up. I started using spironolactone and never got cystic acne again (just the occasional bump from sweat or a pimple, nothing crazy like before). I switched to Tretinoin 0.025 and the next day I thought my pores looked smaller. I have kept with the tretinoin and am now at 0.05 strength almost a year later and this is the best my skin has ever looked. I think adapalene is a great product that everyone should try but I definitely don’t think it works best for my skin.

I am changing my career, society is agist, and I need a good look for myself, to improve my life, and to feel my best. I find it hard to go to the doctor to get tretinoin.. Hi Jennifer, since I discovered your youtube channel I started using tretinoin and I am very happy with the results. I was wondering if there is a special reason why you use gel instead of cream and if there are big differences? I use the cream myself and I doubt to switch to gel because I read that the cream can clog your pores and that it takes longer to get results.. 🌼
