For those who learn better by reading (as I do): Identify your “why” and assign meaning to the routine. Don’t just follow someone else’s routine and expect it to suit or serve you; it has to hold purpose for YOU and be meaningful to YOU. Establishing a solid foundation on which to build an enduring routine will enhance likelihood for you to adhere with longevity. Prioritize your values and create the habits that your future self will be proud of and grateful for. Resist the temptation to overcomplicate. Simplify. Start small. Less is best. Release expectations and desire for achievement. Instead, stay focused on repeatedly DOING (doing leads to being). Remember that discipline is in service of the outcome; mood follows action. Commit to what needs to be done - do it, and keep doing it. You don’t have to (always) love it, you just have to do it (Nike has it right)!! The desired outcome will reveal itself in time as a natural consequence of your consistent and deliberate actions.

It was woven throughout your video, but, I'll just say, micro habits have been transformative for me. Since engaging in micro habits, I've had incredible success in many areas. Four months ago, I decided to "just do 20", meaning pick up my weights 5 days a week & just exercise for 20 minutes. The 20 min only made it feel less overwhelming.
I've also committed to "9 cups/day" of water and I've been consistent for a month! These micro habits are building blocks & less overwhelming than saying, "I'm going to get healthy & lose weight".

Keep reminding yourself, "My future self will THANK ME!" .....Then when that future time comes, even if it's with small goals, remember to thank your PAST self. 🥰
1) Focus on meaning instead of motivation (What do you value? Ask yourself like this. What do I value
2) Remove Obstacles
3) Keep it simple (less, not more, is best)

I wanted to share something that has been on my mind recently. As someone who was diagnosed with what was formerly known as Asperger's syndrome (now referred to as high-functioning autism) when I was 27, I couldn't help but notice some similarities in the way you express yourself and the experiences you describe. I've noticed traits such as special interests, adherence to routines, specific food preferences, and sensitivity to sensory stimuli, among others, which are often associated with autism.
Please know I bring this up with the utmost respect and admiration for you and your work. Your channel has been a source of inspiration and enjoyment for me, and I truly appreciate the content you create.

For the exhausted and in pain- make sure each step of your routine includes some pleasure- as it will already include pain. I am still working on this but I know this is the way forward. Find a way to make the healthy enjoyable.
Very good tips! I would add to not get down on yourself if you miss a day or don’t complete everything you wanted. Just to say it’s okay and start again. Keep striving.

Hi Jennifer, thank you for your video. I too really like routines and I have found that if the routine has positive effects on the body (exercise, nutrient dense foods), my body gets excited for me to do the thing. It felt hard at first for sure and now the things that felt hard are the things that bring me the most joy in life. I went on vacation and wasn't able to have my typical diet and even though the food was delicious and a treat, I was so excited to get back to my vegetables! Do you have a similar response due to strengthening those nueropathways? I find it a lot easier to get going now than when I first started over a decade ago.
Do you find it difficult when things disrupt your routines? Like travelling or starting a new job etc. I find it hard when I have to change my routines and can feel off balance when I'm trying to fit them around a new way of life

I consider myself very disciplined and I love routines. My tip would be to focus on one thing and do that thing first thing in the morning. I find that I have less resistance in the mornings
