      Hi... Mary Cahill 😃, she's 6 months old, and the last 2 days I was getting very anxious because I thought she needed to consume more than 30 ounces to keep her growing 😅 but thanks...for all the valuable information you are giving us. You just make it so clear and easy to understand. God Bless you.❤😊

      Oh, let me get up on my soapbox for a minute.
      😢 I breastfed by babies in the early 90’s. That was just before the internet age. No computers at home and no smartphones. The breastfeeding supplies at the store were on the bottom shelf in the diaper isle. Most of my friends (who are moms now), didn’t breastfeed. No one in my family breastfed. I had La Leche league’s book on Breastfeeding.(The Womanly Art of breast-feeding). I just had the basics and I think it worked out better that way for me.
      In my opinion, 95% of breast-feeding information on the internet is WRONG!
      My true heart’s desire is to teach as many moms as I can, the correct information. Then all of you mommies will be able to spend the rest of your lives, sharing that information with your friends, your daughters and your granddaughters. You go, mommy!❤️

      Family tries to be so “helpful” when we need them to be supportive. Tell her that you appreciate her concern but babies cry and eat often even when they’re getting plenty to eat. Also, your night time milk is less in volume but higher in fat. That extra fat helps with better brain development. And as long as she has six or more wet diapers every 24 hours, you know she’s getting enough 🥰

    So are you saying if I am feeding him every three hours in the evening he really should be feeding every hour ? I’m confused this whole exclusively pumping thing confuses me

    • @marycahillclc
      @marycahillclc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question! Babies sometimes want to eat more often in the evenings. If your baby is wanting to eat every hour, then feed them every hour but baby won’t be taking in very much at each feeding. Every baby is so different. Some eat every hour then the next one eats every 3 hours.
      Did you watch my video on Pace Feeding?
      I know that exclusively pumping is hard and there’s so much to take in but your doing great! Be patient with yourself. I see that you’re watching lots of my videos 😁 Just keep asking questions mommy ❤️

      How often does he go into cluster feeding?
      Do you have a forceful letdown/oversupply?
      Cluster feeding isn’t usually non stop but can happen again and again the whole time you nurse.

      @marycahillclc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dragonfly7380 cluster feeding will help you to make more milk but the main reason that babies cluster feed is for them to get more fat. If baby eats more often, they get slightly more fat.
      Baby should not nurse a set amount of time, evenly divided between breasts in a feeding. Baby should be on one side as long as possible (until they seem about done), then switch to the other side. Baby may be on the 2nd side for a few minutes but it may only be a few seconds. The reason for doing it this way is again for fat. Baby gets slightly more fat at the end of a feeding. Keeping baby on that 1st breast as long as possible, gives a little more fat. Having baby on the 2nd side when possible during a feeding, keeps your supply up.
      How old is baby? What are you seeing for wet and poopy diapers?

      @@marycahillclc he’s 1 month and a couple of days, he’s peeing 6+ diapers for sure. He isn’t pooping everyday but most days he is. He had a period of time where it was a couple of days in between. He’s also letting my milk leak while feeding. I keep asking about it and she really doesn’t give me any information to help but to burp him and he still lets me leak after burping.

      @@hayuclasses6556 This is often a time of a growth spurt. That doesn’t mean baby needs more to eat but it hurts to grow so quickly. Breastmilk helps with the pains and it’s comforting for baby to be at the breast. It usually lasts a few days but can be for a couple of weeks.
      You can wear baby in a front wrap or carrier and let baby be attached many hours through the day. Or you can pump and let someone else feed the baby a couple of times a day. They can feed baby with a spoon, cup or bottle.

      How old is baby? If baby is not showing all of the signs of readiness for solids, they often can’t digest the solids. Thus makes most babies still wake up often because they need nutrients or it can cause tummy issues.

      @@SoSo-cn6cuSolids should just be small tastes and this point. Breastmilk (or formula) should be her main source of nutrition until about 12 months.
      Is she nursing often before bed. Offering the breast more often can help to give her more fat because our milk is higher in fat as the day goes on.
      This may be her normal for her to wake up at 4am. Though it’s hard on you. 😴 Babies are not expected to sleep through the night until about 6 months. The medical term for sleeping through the night is 6 hours. Is she almost to 6 hours?
      You can try dream feeding. If she goes to bed before you, you can pick her up or lean over her when you are going to bed to let her nurse while she’s asleep. (This works for some moms/babies) Or is there someone who can give her a bottle at 4 am?
