Sony has just came up with new firmware update for Sony A7IV - version 2.0. This version enables Sony A7IV to be used with the new Creators' Cloud via Creators' App (which takes place previous Sony Imaging Edge). In this video I'm going to show you how to update your camera and connect to the app in order to upload your photos automatically to the cloud.

This update is not worth the time to do. This is more of a 'push into a £10.19 monthly subscription service' than an update that provides anything useful.
I do hope there's some more exciting stuff coming with this change in the future. Technology is already there for years with mobile phones and its ability to be 'connected'

Dear Magic I really appreciate your work and you are among one of the best Sony ambassadors just along with Mark Galer in my opinion. I just hope you can tell our words to Sony about firmware updates. Man the whole community are so frustrated! The way they are treating us is just beyond the tolerance. After over a month being excited about a new firmware update knowing its called ver 2.0 the hopes were way higher than this minor update to let you conect to the new app only! Man if this was named version 1.2 there was no problem! Canon gave much more improvements in their R6 and R5 cameras and they yet haven't got a ver 2 yet! Nikon with ver 2.0 update almost launched Nikon Z9 mark ii! I'm not saying I expected Sony give us 4k 60p in full mode, well like Canon did in R6 through a simple firmware update anyway! But I really hoped to get new simple things like focus bracketing, bulb timer and a few improvements in focus algorithms when the firmware version is called 2! Does Sony really see us photographers?! Or they just care about vloggers and so-called content creators? R6 ii gives 40fps at the same price as A7iv with only 7fps in electronic silent mode! Shake a leg Sony don't make us switch!

hello magic, I had the 1.04 system installed on the camera, after that I immediately installed 2.00 without installing 1.05 as it says in the manual, will I have a problem and how can I correct it? thank you for your reply

Upgraded to 2.00 but the creator app doesn’t work . Don’t know why it will pair but won’t let me control my camera with my phone anymore like I could with imaging edge
What I didnt understand is why my A7IV now connects with my home wifi? Does the camera upload directly?
I have a problem with my sony a7IV, I downloaded the new update, put it on the SD card as it was done in other updates, put the card back in the camera and started the update, but the update notification light kept blinking for more than 1 hour and it didn't update, and now my camera won't turn on, I've tried several ways, took the battery out and put it back in but I still can't turn the camera on anymore.
This would be a good way to have a safety backup during a wedding. Like it would suck to have to only have compressed JPGs, but it would be better than not having anything. Say all your gear gets stolen on your way home.
could be a way for like a last resort backup. But also being all the time connected to your phone and transferring the photos... I'm pretty sure it would eat a lot of the battery
Tried connecting for 2 hours yesterday and it said "check camera status" over and over :/

I just use a SD card reader for my phone and have Google Photos sync albums. I like the idea, but I already have a workflow that does what Sony has implemented.

Hi, i just got some issues regarding because saved settings from fw below 2.0 doesnt load on fw 2.0. Is there any work around to convert old saved settings to make it compatible to fw 2.0? Thanks.
Marvin - let me know if you find an answer as I have the same issue. I have various Camset files that I use for different shooting scenarios and none will load now. Really troubling. I have a ticket with Sony to see if there is a solution but so far they haven’t figured it out

The update is unnecessary, I like to use the imaging edge, sometimes.
My A7siii has some major wifi issues so I hope a new patch and a new app will fix this issue. Kinda excited 😊
A7SIII is long overdue for firmware update!
There will be no A7S III update. Get an FX3 instead.

Yup! It does!
Don’t see a reason for me to upgrade and I think the v2.0 label is pretty exaggerated. I use the imaging edge app to send a handful of shots to my iPhone in 33mp RAW for a quick edit (which takes ages as you said) but don’t see a reason to have them in a cloud.
Yup, 2.0 label is quite disappointing …

Can you still use the camera as a webcam if it doesn't work with Edge?
You never needed any software like imaging edge to use it as a webcam. A7iv plugs into computers natively as a webcam !
I wonder if someone wanted to keep using IEM and skip this update, but install a future update (for other features) - would Creator’s Cloud be part of all future updates, such that one would not be able to stay with IEM, if that makes sense.
It is unlikely that any future upgrades will be compatible with Imaging Edge Mobile. Having removed IEM support in 2.0, they are hardly likely to reinstate it as an option in the future.
Hey magic. I want to buy second camera. At the moment I have a7iii. Do you recommend Sony a7iv or a7riv ? I intend to use for weddings and events. Cheers

Hi Magic and everyone, I have a sony a7siii and through out my career I have been in favour more as a wedding photographer than a videographer. Should I sell my a7siii and buy a7iv for better megapixels?
For sure! Especially if your clients want to blow up photos and get prints done. But I’ve blown up photos from an a7siii that was fairly large and it worked out fine. Keyword is fine. I would say the a7iv is for sure an all around great camera (both photo and video) rather than a single hitter in one area. Given that you could sell the a7siii for more money than it would cost for you to get the a7iv, you’d save some money. Go for it.
How long does this update take? I’m installing via SD card and it’s been about 45min so far. At 5 slow blinks and 7 fast blinks.
Same here, as I type. Ridiculous amount of time.
I just did the update on 2 bodies and it took maybe a few mins max... 45 something sounds wrong!

My a7iv doesn't work with Monitor Plus app after upgrade (
Shutter app broken as well, but worse, none of my saved camset files will load. Really terrible
New version 1.2.4 Monitor Plus works fine with new firmware 2.00.
Same with Capture One. Totally useless
Instead of this cloud service, I would’ve loved a Focus Stacking, better AF, pre-buffer shooting, 4K 60p no crop, 1080p 180fps

They saving it for the A7V
4K 60p crop is not a software thing. The processor is not capable to process 33 megapixel data to create 4K 60p videos. It's a hardware limitation. Same as 1080p 180 fps.

Do not update if you use 3rd party apps for wireless tethering. Sony has encrypted the wireless settings so that other apps can't recognise the camera anymore.
It’s actually convinced me to sell the A7iV - I would’ve loved more video updates such as shutter-angle , and some improvements in function etc thank you SONY it was nice but you’ve not helped the situation by ignoring customers and what they want in an update ⛩
If the the cinema line FX3 and FX30 haven’t gotten shutter angle, A7IV definitely won’t be getting it.
I have no interest in anything stored in the cloud. I'm going to have to figure out something else to Bluetooth my A74 photos to my phone or computer. I'm pretty sure I need more then that like enrolling into some classes or tutorials. I missed the boat on photography before mirrorless and the A74 is my first serious camera paired up with a Sigma 24-70 Art lens. I am sadly back to using my cell phone to take pictures and upload the JPG rather than using RAW. Perhaps I am ready for LightRoom and just upload to that. I'm trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about but I don't.
Custom luts would have been much more appreciated

Thinking about it too in order to get proper AF for moving subjects and 20 FPS. Would register a huge loss though.

@@jaybeckerich Correct. But at the time I got the A7iv, I thought 10 FPS was enough...and I didn't know that 10 FPS on the A7iv is unusable due to 10 FPS EVF refresh rate and that it's difficult to get over 70 % of sharp pictures if you use it higher than 6 FPS. And price matters.

@@MagicWeddingPhotographer look at sony site - they clearly not mentioning the 14 model as a supported model. goes up to 13. I tried for 3 hrs today to pair it with my iphone - unluckily.

Hello everyone…be very careful before performing any updates on the SONY A7IV the firmware!
This update firmware from 1.10 to 2.0 broke my Sony A7IV , Sony service and support Canada tried with me by phone to bring it to life with no success and gave me a list of authorized repair dealers to have it repaired at my cost , it’s out of warranty since the 27 of December 2021 and now it’s costing me $902,70 Canadian to have it repaired, ( have to change the "Mother Board " ) Sony says they can’t do nothing for me .

i'm really considering to sell all my sony camera gear to switch to nikon.
the old imagine edge app hasnt really worked for many years. i cant use the creators app with my a7iii, but it doesnt really matter anyway since the reviews about this app are just as bad.
i used sony for many years now, but these apps are just too bad.
all i want is an app that i can use as a remote control ( with live view )
nikon can do this, why cant sony??

It is the most useless and stupid firmware I have seen. No new features, nothing. If only this firmware would introduce the cleaner interface of the screen that is on the A7R V. In conclusion, it is an almost useless firmware.
Another source told me that the new firmware update will include Focus Stacking.
