Seems like the ring isn't ready for market yet. But these days companies like to release things that aren't ready and just fix it with a software update later so who knows anymore
I'm so glad you addressed the issues faced by weightlifters potentially interested in the ring. I was interested in the ring, but I don't want to spend money on a fitness tracker that I can't wear when I'm actually exercising.
Yeah rings not that great when weight lifting, if you are lifting with any lifting wraps or lifting straps the watch also becomes useless, Samsung should invest more in integrating more chest straps into their eco system, or just provide better support for ones already on the market like polar or garmin chest straps.
I think a fitness strap would be enough. Not a watch but just a thin strap that has minimalist functionality. There are a few options around and way more practical than a ring
Get a Fitbit Charge, does the same thing, but more accurately, has a smart alarm that vibrates based on your sleep cycle, has payment functionality and you can disable all notifications if they’re bothersome.
Unless you're doing something like circuit training like some sort of Orange Theory-esque routine where it's basically half a cardio workout and not just strength training, none of the fitness trackers really offer much towards lifting. Garmin has the ability to make routines and track sets and rest periods, though it's honestly a bit annoying imo, but ultimately all the watches are really built with cardio tracking in mind and they end up basically just treating lifting by the metrics of what cardio impact did it have on you. Like a 30 min light jog is weighed as a heavier impact with more required recovery time or "body battery" effect than an intense lifting day with heavy squats and lunges that easily makes me feel more depleted than the 30 min jog. In all fairness, I don't really expect much more than that, a watch/ring/whatever can only tell so much about what you're doing. It's a bit silly when you find people complaining that their watch couldn't tell they were doing step back lunges vs squats. I don't really know what they could do to better measure your muscle fatigue and your exertion during lifting without things connected all over you.

If you combine the Galaxy Ring with the Ultra watch or Watch 7 they work seamlessly together to monitor your health and workouts. Not the Apple watch. The same applies for the sleep data. You can take off the watch when you go to bed and the ring will monitor your sleep metrics. I personally hate wearing a watch to bed so this combination is what I am most excited about. It's obvious they are pushing the Samsung eco system which for me is fine. You can also use the ring with Android phones (Android 11 and newer). You will just not get the energy score and using gestures you would get with a Galaxy phone. I hope this helps those who are trying to decide whether or not to purchase one.
Whilst i know it's expensive... This for me shows why whoop on a bicep band is the way to go. Completely out of the way, can still do all your other workouts, and doesn't feel horrible on your finger like a ring does.
Although Apple may not release a ring, the way you were pointing with your finger made me think it could be a great "cursor guide" for the Apple Vision Pro & similar cheaper devices. I think the ring will make AR/VR gestures more accurate & have less latency. I also was hoping for a direct comparison with Oura.
The ring is meh.. there’s absolutely no point if it’s not accurate.. a week long battery life is only good if it’s actually useful lol.. no screen, no notifications, non accurate info.. should’ve been approved first.. they don’t need the public for funding and beta testing but that’s what they’re gonna do 😂

Taking off the ring and it’s still showing data as if he had it on is SUPER SUPER bad. Almost a controversy I’d say. It’s almost like AI is just filling in the gaps or something. It’s literally made up data.
I dont think its samsungs responsibility, I'm sure there would be issues when pairing this with an iPhone or Pixel and it would require them to develop an app for the Google Play Store for other Androids. As opposed to you just pairing it with your Samsung and it automatically working. They have taken the Apple approach to this, unfortunately.
@@Nabee_H Samsung has had a Galaxy Wearable app on the Play Store for years, and the ring does work with non-Samsung devices. MKBHD was incorrect about this point.
Definitely made me reconsider some of the pros and cons of smart rings versus smartwatches. Activity tracking seems to be a downfall with the ring if it needs to be removed for certain exercises.
The Samsung Ring Is Supposed To Be Used With A Samsung Watch If You Want Accurate Fitness Scores, A Apple Watch And Samsung Ring Don't Work Together But A Samsung Watch Does Work With The Samsung Ring
9:03 you can actually pair it with *any* Android Phone, which they also say on their website. The only requirement is Android 11 and above to work. This may be one of the biggest issue for potential buyers, so please correct this 🙏 Great review otherwise tho ❤
would have been nice to show what the ring actually does. what the 3 sensors do and how the software looks. can it do more than watching heartbeat and sleep? what does the software do with the data? does samsung have something like a health app like apple does?
An important aspect that you didn't mention: When paired with a watch, the watch and ring talk to each other directly to get an even more accurate reading. I believe that a Ring + watch combo would give you the most accurate readings of any smart wearable.
At what point do we go "yeah, we tried but this tech just doesn't work yet"? Like he said in the review, this product is new, but similar products have been on sale for years and they all seem to have the same issues with inaccuracy. Maybe it's not a Samsung problem, but a smart ring problem?
My biggest worry is that Samsung will secretly create a Master Ring to rule all the other rings, thus, being in control of all lesser ring bearers.

You can also use the ring with Android phones (Android 11 and newer). You will just not get the energy score and using gestures you would get with a Galaxy phone. I hope this helps those who are trying to decide whether or not to purchase one.
That's a ton of money to spend on wearables
@@griffin8062 No question. But, on the pre order you can the $649 watch for $260 and the $399 ring for $330.
why would i need to spend 1000$ in a ring and a watch
@BattaCham You don't. It is always your choice. BTW, with the pre-order, it cost $560 for both. Not $1000.
@@sbrodchet21 400 si the watch and 400 is the ring so 800
I feel like I really take advantage of how high quality these videos are. literally incredible editing!
Whilst i know it's expensive... This for me shows why whoop on a bicep band is the way to go.
Completely out of the way, can still do all your other workouts, and doesn't feel horrible on your finger like a ring does.
Ooooo off at 10pm.... Doesn't want us to see that heart rate spike for 35 seconds. 😂

When you said at 8:12 that you’d like the idea of a screenless, no vibrating, fitness tracker. I think you’d like the whoop! Worth looking at
Replying so this gets seen. Looks pretty cool from looking briefly at Google Image's result

I love how well lit your videos are, its so easy to see every detail.
Loooove the intro. Great work, team
Thanks for your perspective on this one!
“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.”
Thanks for the info! I am an iPhone person but the foldable phones have captured my attention. And your presentation is amazing. 🤩
The ring is meh.. there’s absolutely no point if it’s not accurate.. a week long battery life is only good if it’s actually useful lol.. no screen, no notifications, non accurate info.. should’ve been approved first.. they don’t need the public for funding and beta testing but that’s what they’re gonna do 😂
You would be screaming innovation if Apple made one
@@AndreVictorGoncalvesdoes it change the fact that this one isn’t good?
I agree, i get that some people may like this more if they want more simplicity. But it’s kinda expensive compared to a smart watch which has a lot more features
@@AndreVictorGoncalvesand if apple does make it, which they will, it wouldn't be inaccurate. Check the outstanding accuracy of Apple Watch for example.
Samsung simply rushed it to be the first. That's an undeniable fact.
@@AndreVictorGoncalves i give credit where is due, if Apples were more accurate, had notifications then yea but in this state no, I’m
Not biased when it comes to this..
Loving the creativity in the intro!
I love your honesty man ❤❤
Thank you for making a technical device understandable for everyone. Most techie device vids use jargon and techie talk as if everyone knows exactly what they are talking about. You've also given reasons why people would want the product. Thanks!
love the intro treatmenttt !!! kudos to the team behinddddd it all !!! cheersss !! :) Just a thought, would be great to share behind the scene how the intros are made ! hahahah
They already do it on the studio channel

Intro was unreal man. You are an inspiration brother been watching you for years.
You had fun with that intro, love it!
I think this 8sleep ad was the first time I started paying more attention during the ad read. Honestly good insight, I get uncomfortably sweaty at night
for REAL, first time ever I'm actaully interested in an ad and might buy something from it, I'll definitely look into it
Try eating no meat at night after 5pm. Helped me a lot. Heard this tip from andrew hubermans podcast
6:23 Brrrrroooooo !!!! All the Ad making companies make a note on this 😂😂
Thank you for the increased transparency regarding ads in the middle of the video. All TH-camrs should follow suit
Taking off the ring and it’s still showing data as if he had it on is SUPER SUPER bad. Almost a controversy I’d say. It’s almost like AI is just filling in the gaps or something. It’s literally made up data.
Samsung really needs to fix that compatibility issue. Most people don't have Galaxy phones!
Samsung would prefer most people do.
Hi I know u
I dont think its samsungs responsibility, I'm sure there would be issues when pairing this with an iPhone or Pixel and it would require them to develop an app for the Google Play Store for other Androids. As opposed to you just pairing it with your Samsung and it automatically working. They have taken the Apple approach to this, unfortunately.
@@Nabee_H Samsung has had a Galaxy Wearable app on the Play Store for years, and the ring does work with non-Samsung devices. MKBHD was incorrect about this point.
Too bad you can’t use this without a Samsung phone, it had so much potential
Womp womp
Wow Samsung becoming just like Apple so stupid
Thought it was for androids only but Samsung hokes only💀
They think they’re Apple lol
No they don't. @RichieLanderos
Lol why would you even consider buying it if you're not samsung? This is such a tired take.
Definitely made me reconsider some of the pros and cons of smart rings versus smartwatches. Activity tracking seems to be a downfall with the ring if it needs to be removed for certain exercises.
I love the honest review
MKBHD the type of guy to make this his wedding ring 😂

The Samsung Ring Is Supposed To Be Used With A Samsung Watch If You Want Accurate Fitness Scores, A Apple Watch And Samsung Ring Don't Work Together But A Samsung Watch Does Work With The Samsung Ring
@@ricianobommel4298 why have the ring and the watch if both are doing the same thing? tracking the same data etc...
@@cosmicreaverkassadin1143 Yeah, marriage is pretty cringe.
9:03 you can actually pair it with *any* Android Phone, which they also say on their website. The only requirement is Android 11 and above to work.
This may be one of the biggest issue for potential buyers, so please correct this 🙏
Great review otherwise tho ❤
would have been nice to show what the ring actually does. what the 3 sensors do and how the software looks. can it do more than watching heartbeat and sleep? what does the software do with the data? does samsung have something like a health app like apple does?
Appreciate the honesty in the review
Any chance I can play the song “Dupe - Kontrolla” thru that ? 😮😮
Wow your intro is awesome Marquez! Love it!
The phantom heart rate readings are definitely odd and need to be addressed. Looking forward to seeing if smart rings continue to evolve.
I love your intros man
Love the video great as always keep it up 👍
"it never vibrates, it never makes any noise, there's no speaker in it" 8:00 lol no speaker in a ring
Would be easy to implement. AirPod cases have speakers.
Disappointing that there’s no speaker. I can understand no haptic motors, maybe it would be too thick, but a speaker can’t have been that hard
An important aspect that you didn't mention: When paired with a watch, the watch and ring talk to each other directly to get an even more accurate reading. I believe that a Ring + watch combo would give you the most accurate readings of any smart wearable.

As someone who doesn't like watches at all, would love to see a comparison of accuracy between the ring and just the phone for steps.

At what point do we go "yeah, we tried but this tech just doesn't work yet"? Like he said in the review, this product is new, but similar products have been on sale for years and they all seem to have the same issues with inaccuracy. Maybe it's not a Samsung problem, but a smart ring problem?
