      Well-guarded?
Every smart ring comparison review has this as their first downside when it comes to Oura.
They might not embellish it on their website, but they are are open about what you get and what you don't get without an active subscription.
I was very happy with Gen2, but when it broke didn't switch to Gen3 due to the subscription model.
For those that still have theirs, the data you get access to regarding Gen2 is still impeccable.
That's something you don't find as much info online, because there aren't many articles that talk about buying used rings from the last gen.

i agree. companies need to make money in order to give you some features, like stuff going on on servers, and continuing app development, but basic stuff could be done without a server. part of the issue may be that they do not sell a lot of these, and so the cost per sale is a lot, and the other problem is greed, because who would not like to have thousands of people sending them several dollars per month?

Tidbit about the Oura ring, it only takes your temperature while you are sleeping not throughout the day, so a shower would not effect the reading. Also It gives you an above or below reading of the temperature, not the actual degree. I am unsure about the ultrahuman. I got the oura ring for fertility tracking and specifically the temperature reading.

Amazed I only found this video now: my wife recently upgraded her Fitbit to a newer model, and I inherited her old one (which, happily, came with a one-year Premium membership when I re-registered it in my name). Like you, I double-wrist it with one of my watches daily, and that's gotten old PDQ. The Oura didn't quite appeal, and the Ultrahuman is close-but-no-cigar. *But* , my hopes are currently hanging on Samsung's Ring, partly on account of having a Samsung phone, and also because of the possibility of NFC capability being part of the package. (Imagine: using OMNY on the subway of bus in Gotham gets that much easier than whipping a phone out.) Time will tell. Thanks for this!

I was going to buy the RingConn, but I am a little uncomfortable buying a ring from a company who still needs to do kickstarter on its second gen ring? That tells you they don’t have any or enough investors and not enough customers. Also, as of a couple days ago it would take until about the end of November to get it, apparently they do not have enough stock of the sizers and rings.

Thanks for the video. I understand the frustration with the monthly fee, but I decided to go with Oura because they are the leading company in this market, they offer a good product, have a robust large team of researchers, who seek to innovative using science based studies, and it’s is well liked by its users. No disrespect to others, but one’s health is certainly worth $5 dollars a month. How many of those who are complaining about the monthly fee, have more than one streaming service such as Netflix, Hulu etc, or buy a coffee everyday or every other day etc.? Again I was hesitant as well because of the fee, but they are a well established company, and I am willing to cut back on a non-essential item/habit in my daily life that charges a fee in order to try to improve my overall health.

I'm coming to the Oura ring from a Garmin Venu Sq2 and I'm thoroughly unimpressed.
    - The front page of the app isn't as modifiable as the Garmin Connect app.
    - Front page doesn't have calories burned, or heart rate.
    - Because of the above, you have to "click thru" to get more info.
    - A bunch of junk on the front page (this appears to be a pattern) with meditation, timelines, "what's new", etc.
No way the Oura ring is worth a subscription with such a horrible app.

If not, then it's goodbye until they make a better ring. By the way, I still have the gen 2 ring and it's battery only lasts 2-3 days. So you pay up to $549 for that ring, but without the subscription, which might increase in price. the ring is pretty much useless? Why would anyone do that? The can charge $9.99 next year and $12.99 the year after that and there is nothing you can do about it.
How does the app know that you have paid? Do you need an account? That would be a privacy nightmare.

      @HitchSteam 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

@@MinuteMon First is the battery - I have to charge my Ultrahuman every 5 days, my girlfriend's ringconn charges after 7-8 days (and it is much smaller.....). Ringconn has a great portable case/charger which you can have with you on travels without needing a charger and lastly, I weared all three (ringconn on the small finger) and 3 nights in a row the ringconn and oura where almost on par where ultrahuman measured sleep when I was still awake or awake time in the night where the others had light sleep. To be clear, I am explaining to you detailed because you asked. This is a personal choice and I had the opportunity to test all 3 simultaneously which lead me to the ringconn (if it would not be for the subscription, I would choose the Oura).
