@@FreshNicolas They are both working. I would much rather cook a meal than shoot a video, having to do multiple takes and setting up a scene and memorizing lines.
Just a bit of machining correction, zero tolerance parts aren’t actually just cut into two pieces, but start out as two blocks that are then cut very precisely down to look the same.
If I recall correctly, the toy parts should, if they're "doing it right", be interchangable with any other same toy. Swap middles between outers. Also axially symmetric, so pull out the center, rotate any direction to align the spines and insert. Even reversible, so pull center, flip, insert.

Girl was DETERMINED. But that's why risotto sucks, you do have to "stir frequently" even by the most lax of directions. The rice has to be broken up. I cheat and use congee mode in a Korean rice cooker and get really really close with no effort.
As a coffee nerd, I did want to point out to anyone who is like Arun, that you can buy ground coffee (including those fancy places, they often will do it at the counter for nothing, if you ask). So yes, you can buy a whole other setup for grinding your own coffee, but you can also just buy the coffee already ground for you, so you just have that machine. P.s. drink your coffee however YOU like it, not how others think you should have it.
Also, i want to mention that the kettle he showed is pretty overprized for a premium gooseneck kettle. Take the Fellow Stag EKG for example, which looks better imo, has precise temperature control and a timer and costs around $165. There is even the Fellow Stag EKG Pro for $195, which adds a color lcd display and a couple of smart features, as well as the Studio Edition with a glass base for $225. So all of those are significantly cheaper and have more functionality. (i'm not trying to advertise Fellow specifically, they just have the best looking kettle imo)
@zan1971 I personally use an Aeropress, which is much more manual and does 1 coffee. But it's essentially just a plastic tube you press down on. It's not a machine. And then I chuck it in the dishwasher. But yeah, that particular machine is probably annoying because of the jug. The rest would be pretty simple.
One of the main reasons for minimalist products in places like Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan for example is simply far smaller living spaces versus many parts of the West. That certainly is a driver for that kind of minimalistic, space saving aesthetic in Asia.

Never seen this channel. Very elaborate person. Wasn‘t aware there is something like this. I witness this: a very wealthy youtuber buys expensive gadgets that most people can‘t afford, shows us that by always displaying a fancy office. All this while either writing the gimmicks off as business expense, or, more likely, has some vendor deal behind and get‘s them for free or gets his channel sponsored by them. And all of this has 8mill views. Jeez. What a phantastic self-propelling system. Going off of it now, I need to break the algorithm. EDIT: went down youtubes memory lane and just watched a 7 year old upload of his. Respect mate, you already achieved a lot and you did what you envisioned. I respect that guys/your dedication - and I respect the work. This has been a ton of work! That said, it doesn‘t give me much and the older I get, the more superfluous I tend to find these things. I'd want a Vestax sideways turntable meant to be played strapped over your shoulder, like an 80s KB solo makin' Lead singers & guitarists look even cooler, hehe. They claimed most of their decks would play sideways but sadly I never found out. That pamphlet introduced the worlds only DIY Vinyl Lathe to cut test-press/one-offs from special "12in blank records" (~$20). Iirc it had big Temp indicator and Pressure dial for you to keep temp in green for best cut. Opposite that was a normal tonearm+stylus to check if your 'freshest cut' came out. Cost like $3-6k did not do well as high cost limited it's penetration & Vestax gear had NEW features but plastic build quality did not compare to $800 military grade technics 1200s. This is what modern media should strive to be. From the videography, audio, editing, and narration this was excellent. I've somehow watched tech TH-cam for over 10 years and have never seen your channel. Kudo's to you, I've subbed!
The Playdate is actually more of a developer item. Its a platform that is easy to make games for. Its a good beginning and good practice. It already has so many games made for it and people learning with it AND so many games published for it. All in all its more for developers than anything.
It's also great for kids. My kid doesn't need to have access to the raw horsepower and ability to play 80K games, I just want them to have a simple and fun time. Let a 6 year old review it next, and it'll get a 10/10.

About the minimalism use of kitchen things, in Italy we have a say among students: "pour my coffee on the fried chicken, thank you" that means avoiding utensils and kitckenware just to save up on washing effort. So, I feel it.
As described by Steve Mould in his video "How these impossibly thin cuts are made", zero tolerance parts are made by using two separate parts. First, you cut the hole, then you cut the part that goes into the hole,. It happens submerged in liquid as well.
@@Ballistarius-nx4dwThe inside gear was not cut out of the outside cylinder. The inside material was removed from the cylinder and thrown away while another cylinder or smaller piece was cut into the shape of the gear with no tolerances. You have two pieces of metal made to mesh together.
What's ironic is minimilism is about only having stuff that provides joy or only having stuff that you NEED, this completly breaks that by having lots of little devices. like i dont have a normal scent defuser yet alone a no-battery one???
mine: smartphone, laptop, 8inch tablet for entertainment (have no TV), smartband (Huawei). kitchen: just normal kitchen. v60 dripper to make coffee. I don't embrace minimalism, I just don't like having unnecessary things.
The appeal of the play date is that it’s open source, and its coding language Is easy to learn. It’s a console that anyone can design a game for and play on physical hardware. It’s pretty neat actually, and there are a good amount of of indie games available made just for it.
Yes, there's no way you really like coffee if you drink instant coffee everyday. 😂 The cheapest, most manual and most tasty in my experience is doing hand grinding + pour over directly into your cup.
The surf shark thing isn't totally accurate. All a VPN is doing is changing the IP the site/tool you are connecting to sees. It doesn't hide your IP from your ISP. ISP->IP->You->VPN IP->Connecting Site What it would potentially help with is if your ISPs routing is bad to a location, forcing it to a location first, which is what a VPN is doing, can help route traffic better. In the vast majority of scenarios though a VPN will actually slow down anything you are doing, whether that slow down is measurable or not depends.
Umm no, what's really happening is ISP's can only see you reaching out to the VPN's IP, ISP's can't really see what you are doing because the traffic is encrypted for VPNs and everything you browse is going through VPN' tunnel.
@@YankeeTM in that case, it's a matter of net neutrality, not just purely a speed limiter. Like when Comcast would slow down your internet when they see you're streaming Netflix; a competing tv provider.
The perfect fit desk toys are actually just cut from two blocks with incredibly tight tolerances and finished to give the appearance of being a single object. While the wire cutting is super accurate it still leaves a gap. Fabrication companies generally make them as pieces to show off that they can do extremely accurate work for customers who require near perfect tolerances.
7:23 When those toys are made, there is a gap. They take metal from two different pieces, cut them to the right size, then mill the top to make it uniform.

gooseneck kettles are a scam unless you're specifically making pourover coffee. You'll scream with impatience while you wait for your teacup to fill up. the pour rate is so annoyingly slow, the capacity is stunted, and the boil time is always slow. No point. Also fun fact, all kettles in the US boil half as quickly as they do in the UK
Why is it slower? By law or by the wattage of outlets? I've heard the outlet thing multiple times as an explaination but then why can my pc run just as well with half the wattage of an european pc?
@@Draconic404American outlets run at half the voltage vs many other countries and they dont have higher ampage, resulting in lower actual power for, in this case, heating.

Your PC runs at the same wattage as mine, were both not using everything the outlet can provide. My outlet just has more to spare, which e.g. a kettle can fully utilize.
The metal minimalist fidget toy is not "vapourised" to form cuts, the 2 parts are cut from different pieces and to achieve the seamless look they are then put together and the face is then machined off again, giving it the same direction lines/textures
I know someone who has a light phone, they absolutely swear by it. I gotta say, while I don't necessarily love the idea of ditching everything I can do on a normal smartphone (because there's a lot more productivity-related things that aren't just social media), the fact that the phone is so barebones and the fact that the screen is e-ink means they get a TON of battery life out of it.
I went from a budget smartphone to a couple flip phones and now to the light phone. I love it (and love it a lot more than my old nokia) - I rarely check it unless I get a call or text, and its great not being on a phone all the time. I agree with Arun tho - it is not for everyone, and no one should switch directly from a full smartphone to something with so many limitations without thinking about it for a long time and understanding that it's not a one fix solution to technology saturation.

Watching you review the turntable gave me a serious flashback & had me chuckling the whole time. I couldn't help but think of the one piece of tech that ensured my last summer in my suburban hood before venturing to college was a thoroughly enjoyable & memorable one. My gear did what needed doing, but is so far along the spectrum from yours, it might even be on another one. 😆 While it couldn't be considered minimalist, it was extreme in one aspect, it weighed next to nothing. Let me first tell y'all how i acquired it. Long ago, way back in the olden days, when albums of popular music started being sold, someone decided to adapt the 'Book Club' model for selling books to sell albums. Essentially, you sign up to receive an album every month, where you pick the genre & they pick the album. You can pass on ones you don't want, but you're obliged to buy a certain number within a year. In order to make the offer more enticing, they had gifts to lure you in. I know some of you will have a hard time visualizing a low tech world, but this was way back, even before boom-boxes & Walkmans. The 'gift' i got, was called a stereo. It consisted of an AM/FM receiver & turntable unit with 2 speakers that could be unplugged & traded out if better was available. The plastic housing was a lovely black charcoal & the transparent turntable cover was tinted black. It actually wasn't that big, conveniently fitting in a standard garbage bag & so light you only needed one hand to carry it. Throw in the extension cord from the lawnmower & we were good to go. Our suburb was a bit rural, so there was always a house next to a farmer's field or patch of wood where we could trail out the cord & disappear. It was a truly splendid summer. Oh my, it's been 50 years, suddenly i feel old.

The fidget toy is made from two separate pieces of metal. Yes it is made with a wire cutter, but you have to drill a hole first to get the wire through. And also the wire itself is not zero millimeters wide, it leaves a gap. Therefore you make the two parts separately.
For the toy, it is cut from 2 different parts of the piece of metal and then put together. It is called EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) that uses a thin wire to do the cutting while the entire thing is submerged in distilled water.

Do you clean the coffee maker stuff daily? Surely it must be an annoying task.
He bought a gooseneck kettle. All he needed was a 15 bucks v60 and a scale to make good coffee.
@@zan1971 it takes a few minutes to do, honestly it's alright

My favorite? The record player. I am not even a record guy but when a product is just so well done, you can't help but respect and revere it.
Also soon after this $1k Final Scratch was announced and scratch demos sounded good. Allowed mixing, scratching ANY TRACK (mp3s or even video!) Make every DJ setup into a controller via $30 Timecode Vinyls on your current mixer, etc! Burn free Timecode Albums to add a CD Decks to your controller. Thx man made me all nostalgic bro :D
Absolutely. Even I appreciate listening to it just because its more manual. Therefore, more involved throughout from the setup to listening a track.

The surf shark thing isn't totally accurate. All a VPN is doing is changing the IP the site/tool you are connecting to sees. It doesn't hide your IP from your ISP.
ISP->IP->You->VPN IP->Connecting Site
What it would potentially help with is if your ISPs routing is bad to a location, forcing it to a location first, which is what a VPN is doing, can help route traffic better.
In the vast majority of scenarios though a VPN will actually slow down anything you are doing, whether that slow down is measurable or not depends.
I was looking for this comment. Thank you 🙏
Well said. I wonder if SurfShark gave him those talking points. They should clearly know better. Unless it was the marketing department.
@@devin2156for alot of youtubers for those ads they give them a script they have to work through.
If nothing else, you need to drill a hole for the wire to go through *before* it can start working.

gooseneck kettles are a scam unless you're specifically making pourover coffee. You'll scream with impatience while you wait for your teacup to fill up. the pour rate is so annoyingly slow, the capacity is stunted, and the boil time is always slow. No point.
Also fun fact, all kettles in the US boil half as quickly as they do in the UK

While it couldn't be considered minimalist, it was extreme in one aspect, it weighed next to nothing.

For the toy, it is cut from 2 different parts of the piece of metal and then put together. It is called EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) that uses a thin wire to do the cutting while the entire thing is submerged in distilled water.
