Dang, short and sweet and quality fish, love it. This is a perfect video to watch right before the tourney Sunday. Looks like we will need to find some wind protected spots Sunday for sure.
I think i know where this is haha, i wont be specific but im 90% sure it’s in va. Also, i wanted to say thanks for doing what you do. I was half decent at snakehead fishing for the last couple years but thanks to your content, my buddies and i are crushing them. I met a couple dudes at crows nest today that said they met you. All of them said you’re a dope dude. I hope we can meet out on the water someday
Happy to help brother. Stories like yours are why I do it 👊 I’ll be coming back down VA way in not too long. Till then, see you on the water and good luck!
Heck of a fish brother. I gotta get out to the bay. I caught a lot of slack for calling a 5 lb. 15 oz. bass 6 lbs lol that's a 16 pounder all day. Fish of a lifetime 👍 they haven't gotten that big yet in loch Raven where I fish
@@VinniesFishing1 thanks Vinnie. If the regs weren’t so tight for kayaks on loch raven, I’d hit it all the time. Cut my teeth on loch raven. I just can’t do the summertime bush-beating to get to the spots. I hit 32 years old and suddenly became extremely allergic to poison ivy. Generally keeps me in the kayak during the summer.
@@KambotroutFishing yea that would suck to be allergic to poison ivy. I got it between my fingers pretty bad this year but I kept it from spreading. Theirs a lot of deer ticks also, I spray myself from head to toes. I'm 39 and feel it every morning, I hike 6-8 miles when I go fishing there. I try to get to the places not as many ppl go to. I bought a cheap kayak over the winter to see how I like it but procrastinating on fixing my truck to haul it around. But I hooked it up with lights, fish finder and anchor trolley system. Ik itching to take it out
Thanks, brother! If you can find those waters that don’t have a ton of pressure and which have a solid forage base, there are definitely still a lot of big Fish around. It’s just a matter of keeping it mostly off the radar from the crowds 😏
I’m on the road right now so I’ll have to double check the Rod specs when I get home, but I know the reel was a Penn Fierce II spooled with 40 pound Berkeley X9. I believe the rod was roughly 6 1/2 feet, medium heavy, and fast action.
Agreed, I need to tether it asap lol. This was part of a special order that my fishing team and I put together with Ketch, specifically designed for snakehead fishing. If you’re interested, I know a few guys who are selling them right now.
Do you use straight braid for topwater snakehead or a leader. If you use straight braid what knot do you use cause mine snaps off when I cast sometimes
Great question. I always run straight braid and I either use a Palomar not or a Bangkok hooker twist knot. If you’re not familiar with the latter, do a search for Bangkok hooker twist knot and kambotrout. I did a tutorial on it.
She shook free. I’ll have to go back and check the video to make sure that I had a good grip on her, but once those fish get about 15 pounds the amount of power they can generate on those head shakes makes it almost impossible for any grips to hold them effectively.
Your ending graphic looks like jeepers creepers lol. Love your content though! I’m located in MD and I fish as much as I can but snakes have proven to be A LOT more elusive than you make it seem 😅 Guess I got more work to do huh?!!
lol thanks brother. I do see the resemblance 😂 Yup, more time on the water needed. One day Snakehead will be feeding heavy and chasing down lures. Other days they’ll spook if a lure the size of a locust flies over their heads. Wild fish.
@@KambotroutFishing 🤪I understand. I live down in Chesapeake. Trying to figure out how far South they are these days. Do you know if they have reached the southern James/or Elizabeth rivers yet? What about Lake Smith in VA beach? I found a map on Virginia DWR website showing their range… back in 2012. Nothing new. They were in Northern James at that time.

Dang! Awesome fish bud. I can't wait to give it a try.

Nice work, Steve! 👏🏾🎣
Thanks brother!
@@KambotroutFishing you’re welcome bro!
That was a slob of a fish!! Glad to see there's still some big ones around! I'm hoping big snakeheads make a resurgence !
Thanks, brother!

Thanks William!
Nice fish! Great video. I looked through the description and don’t think I saw it. What spinning rod and reel are you using?

I will forever just call a “dragon” a giant
“Dragon” is engrained in my lexicon now. I’d need a surgeon to remove it 😏
Where did you get a 40" Ketch-X? Also, you should tether that thing... they don't float!

Did it really break loose from the grippers or they weren't closed good

Looks like Ocean City to me
Where can i buy an ara popper?

I don't know how you do the head cam all day like that. I'd have a real headache
There are days it definitely sucks, but I prefer it for the audio quality and the ability for me to swivel my POV.
lets go W

Why don’t you use lbs
Accidentally changed it to Kg at some point and didn’t see where to change it back. Found it today after your comment and changed to pounds again
