Great video Kambo. A few weeks ago I caught a dragon parent off a fry ball. The other parent followed that fish all the way in and wouldn’t leave the fish that I caught. Have you ever experienced that ? This was a first for me
Thanks brother and thanks for sharing! I have seen this once before but part of me wasn’t sure the mate was truly hanging around waiting on its counterpart. Hearing you’ve seen it too only makes me more sure I saw what I thought: one parent waiting on the other
This is the video where I captured that behavior after I’d caught the big male off the fry ball: th-cam.com/video/a6Zp0-gEfxo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qjadDnPJ1pWbv15b
Kambo never fails to post the night before a fishing trip! Finally got a dragon, and a double digit fish day last week!! Can’t wait to watch the video 🤙🏼
Thanks, brother! Rarely does the fishing action line up with me remembering all my camera gear and all my camera gear working as intended, but it happened this day 😜
Did you have the trolling motor? Because that's a long haul if you had to go back to the boat ramp. BTW. The fish are good eating from there...at least I assume they are because I caught one there with a ketchup packet stuck to it.😅
I was chuckling at the equipment fails and challenges but you got it done! Im having a low grade debate with my buddies about how many times a year Snakehead spawn..any clues?
I love how these fish can wreck gear. For spawning, the science demonstrates two main peaks in spawning: May-June and Aug-Oct. That said, more study is needed and timelines will shift due to conditions, not calendars. My opinion: most fish spawn at most twice a year.

Awesome vid brother! I understand the reasoning behind hiding your location. I don’t create any content but if I did I would do the same. Nothing against other snake hunters but I’m very limited to the spots I fish at and don’t want it crowded or pressured!
Thanks David! I’d love to share my locations, but I’ve seen too many areas ruined by publicity on social media. I like to teach and help others, so my compromise has always been showing people how to do something or letting them know about online resources which they can use to find waters for themselves.
@@KambotroutFishing agree! What you are doing is great! I’ve been a hunter since 2016, ETS back to Pennsylvania and I started hearing about the crazy fish in MD waters where I was doing my Drills! So I went and fished the area but never really targeted them, caught them usually by chance and luck lol Your videos have helped me so much in recognizing the patterns, cycles and techniques on how to catch them! So a big thank you for how you cater your videos to helping others not just catch snakes but educate as well! Hooah!
What rod & reel setup do you run for the ara popper? It’s way too light on my mag heavy bait caster, but I know you preach heavy extra fast action rods
Great question. The actual rod I’m using is an older model I’ve had a long time. 6’6” Medium-Heavy Power, Extra Fast Action Penn Fierce II 30-40 pound X9
@@KambotroutFishing Thanks so much for the response, I actually had one more question I tuned my hooks up on teckle honker to the point where they are exposed from the actually hollow body due to Missing hookups, I mean out of the pack those hooks are like almost underneath the frog lol, and I had some awesome bites on the thing after tuning it but they seem to spit it before I can set the hook, lol maybe just my luck but I was wondering if the snakehead can be that sensitive to the hook and should I have tuned it way less

Nice spot!! I see blackmail in the works. Lol. Nice fish dude.

Some truly great fish, my man!!!
Thanks Andrew. Heck of a morning! 🙏
Super nice
I’m always forgetting something ever trip
I have a checklist that I usually use, but that’s only to get the gear into my truck. Loading up the kayak is another story 😜
Moving to east coast next summer. Gonna get me some of that snakehead action on the kayak. Smack em 🎣🎣

What's with the bulky gloves you're wearing? Look like something you'd maybe wear in October lol
lol, for a fact they are better gloves outside of the summer. Forgot my light weight gloves this day and didn’t feel like dealing with a sunburn.

Can you see those SH below the water or are you watching for wake? Worried I might be legitimately blind

Steve I recieved my order from Acor. 1 question about the frogs. The legs are kind of long. Do you trim them shorter?
Hey Peter. I usually trim them but only about 1/2” off. Legs help them float so I only trim them very slightly
What make is that white and black baitcaster rod?
Cady Lynn Custom. I’ll grab the specs tomorrow, but roughly 7’2”, extra heavy, fast action. Paired with KastKing Centron Lite
