The conditions made it a real struggle at the VKAE Snakes at Dark Snakehead Tournament, but my preparation before the tournament and decisions during the tournament still led me to victory!

Any tips on frog hookup ratio? I usually am decent but i had 2 giants come off today when they nose dove into the grass. I about crossed their eyes with the hook set. 50 pound power pro super slick, duckett zeus 7’3 heavy. Spro walking frog jr, my personal favorite. They love it.
Normally, I would say check your hook angle out of the pack and bend the hook points to be slightly more upward and outward, but the Spro walking frog Junior looks to have a pretty decent hook angle straight out of the pack.
Was this a new Frog or has it seen a fair amount of action? I’ve taken to sharpening my hooks before each outing recently, and that seems to have helped me a bit.
My last recommendation would be using multiplehooks sets. If you ever watch the videos from the Snakehead anglers in Thailand and East Asia, they’ll often set the hook multiple times on a fish.
Lastly, did you have any issues taking up line quickly to be able to maintain pressure on the fish? The thing I like about the KastKing speed demon elite so much is that it is the fastest baster on the market. Really helps me turn that line back into the real quickly and keep that pressure on.

From your observations do you believe that when you catch them off a fry ball that they easily find their way back to the fry upon release?

For fry balls, I’m not sure because I’ve always released them right back onto it. In those cases, I hope they stay but honestly not sure. They usually bury themselves in Hydrilla or hide, so it’s difficult to tell

So on days with clear blue skies we should be targeting shaded shorelines with tree overhangs or docks?
That’s one effective technique I’ve found, yes.
Sometimes you can still get them in pad fields or grass mats (in the openings), but shade usually works best for me.
Whenever I see fryballs unaccompanied by parents I just assume bowfisherman got them
