I've had my Corolla Cross 2024 hybrid XSE for 2 months and absolutely love it! I had a 2011 Honda CRV prior (I keep my cars for awhile) and the only thing I miss is the storage space. But that is it! It is light years peppier, has all the bells and whistles I need and I personally I love the way it looks. I'll note that it is just me and my pup so the storage space is fine. A road trip with a family might be tight with interior back space, but you can always add roof rack storage. And in this trim it costs about 10K less than a Rav4. Super happy with my purchase!

It has 216,000 mi on it and the traction control got me out of a blizzard that trapped hundreds of thousands in Kansas City, Missouri. The only trip I took to the dealership was to have the airbag changed under a factory recall. I'll never limit myself to any brand, but given that this car has been around the world almost nine times and runs basically the same as it did when new, it's an example of flawless reliability.

That’s like me saying I don’t pay for my Tesla electric bill my tires my brakes and I don’t do maintenance on my Tesla. It costed me 0 and I have 150k. That’s no real life scenario. You still have to do joint balls bushings, suspension work and mounts for any car. Everything cost even ev’s cost about 10k for battery replacement and it’ll last about 300k.

I have the SE. Absolute perfect for me. I always hyper mile and get 55-59 MPG highway, 70 otherwise, which is 2/3 of my mileage. I'm still learning and hopefully improve. Pulse and glide mileage was less for me. They're VERY NIMBLE SUVs! Have same cargo area as Rav 4 w/seats down.

Just purchased my CC XSE hybrid a couple of weeks ago. With all of the options it has the MSRP was $36,933. I went on my hunt back in March, 2024. I put up a deposit on 9/1. I finally got the car on 10/17. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and found the dealers don't really have an inventory of CC Hybrids. They maybe get one per month and if they are not presold, they seem to fly out of the dealers' lots within 24 to 48 hrs. Most, if not all, dealers impose a market price adjustment up to $4,995 over MSRP! You really have to want one of these cars to buy now. The demand is so high, the dealers can get away with it.
If had 4 Toyota SUV and 2 cars. I stopped buying Toyota because I can’t convince my wife to buy a new car every 5 years. But with your review I will buy the Toyota Cross . Thanks.
I have a 2024 XSE trim. I love proactive driving assist. It is a great feature and only comes with toyota safety sense 3.0. Additionally steering wheel is extremely light which is very nice.
Nice! Congrats on the car! Glad you love it. I wasn't a big fan of the proactive drive assist feature, but I love that you can turn it off and on, so best of both worlds when some people like it and others don't. Enjoy the car!
The XSE in hybrid form is $35,000 with the S about $30,000. Good reliable power train. The AWD system is lacking with min power to the rear wheels. Where I live 150 inches of snow per year Subaru or Jeeps AWD make more sense. The CC is a good option for budget minded people who don't mind a no frills interior. Great review.
Yeah, once you add destination and options and such, it's closer to $35k. Good call on that. And agreed, the AWD system isn't the one you want if you're going on trails or dealing with bad snowfall often. It's really just to help with slippage here and there and to help balance you through corners a little bit better than if it were just FWD. Thanks for the comment and the kind words!
If you spec the car that you have reviewed it is closer to $36 000+.The options on that car may push it over $37,000. No way could you get much of any discount at most Toyota dealers so that price of $30,000 is more of a lower trim.
Fair point. XSE trim starts around 31k, but after the additional packages and destination it's closer to 36k. I should've been clearer on the price. Appreciate the comment!

Yeah, they're definitely underwhelming in the looks and interior touches departments. Most other automakers have managed to get the "cheap" stuff to not feel quite as cheap, but Toyota is holding back a bit. I think the price is still about right though. The thing about the Toyota tax is that you get it back when you go to sell it.

It's been a while since I've been in a Rav4, and it depends a bit on how you spec it and what's important to you, but my gut is that the Rav4 is going to be a little nicer plus you get a bit more space.

I had to sell my Maverick back to the dealer. Every other month I was getting recalls in the mail, I had 7 by the time I sold it. They didn't fix them before they resold it either. Anyway I used the the money to put a deposit on the corolla cross hybrid xse. After a wait of 2 months it came today, will be picking it up tomorrow

I thought one of these might be a good option for my neice, who's a mother of a two year old and soon to have another baby. But no kick to open tailgate and no 12v in the luggage space is pretty incredible in 2024.
It's pretty bare bones. It's strange because they offer kick to open in other countries. But oftentimes the smallest crossovers in the lineup are last to get the latest features. The Rav4 has it, and there are some other compact and subcompact crossovers around that do, just unfortunately not this one.
Toyota is annoying with mileage estimate on new vehicles like my Prius supposedly should get 45 miles per gallon in worst case . I actually have never gotten 45 miles an hour. My average is 41
Yeah, that's the case with most cars honestly. I think there have only been one or two where I've gotten similar or better than the EPA estimates. There are just so many factors that affect real-world fuel economy.

You paid high price for Toyota name but you got nothing exciting period. I like the hybrid system to save gas and anything else just plain cheesy.
