I just inherited my dad's 98 Goldwing SE with 184,000 and a trailer--can't wait to get out and ride it this year. He loved it, and put 184,000 on it in mostly about 7-8 years until it was harder for him to ride as much... unfortunately he just passed, so now I will use his bike and hopefully have him as my passenger...

I just bought that bike from the same guy you sold it too. It's phenomenal! He put a 2000.00 dollar Pioneer Sound system, and 1200.00 in lightning! Its awesome!!!!! Love it! This kills my last 3 bikes!

Sean: You are right about being cautious about your limits with such a large machine. I remember when a Canadian journalist pushed too hard on a group tour; grounded the bike, did an endo with 900 pounds and died. He looked ok after the accident, was lucid but unknown to everyone bled out internally. Even an expert rider and ex-racer can be overconfident. Riding is always serious business, but especially with a machine that large and heavy.

Love the Goldwings, I had a Harley fat bob I ordered some chrome parts one day only to find they were made in china so I sent the parts back and sold the bike best move I ever did, drove a Goldwing around 1989 model loved it going to now buy a later model one
At the Riverside Hotel in Laughlin upstairs they have a car museum and in that museum has you first go through it on the left side there is a 1975 Goldwing documented 1 million miles engine has never been down
Honda makes quality stuff. 150k miles is nothing for a bike like that. Most comfortable bike in the world, cheap, *and* it's low maintenance. I'd like to see how often a Harley breaks down before it reaches the 200k mark.

Sean, i get that these are old man bikes but it looks like the cady of the road. Just plan your destination and go. Realiable, powerful, good on gas, comfort, and of corse music. My raiders a great bike but I wouldnt feel comfortable driving it over 2-300 miles. There are alot of people who do but not me, the goldwing would get me there.. heated grips, windshield, smoothness. That thing is beautiful.
I had a 1000 cc Sold her bought a 1100cc Aspencade paint was no good but Donk was Great sold her Bought a 09 1800 cc Never ever worse wet weather gear the water go,s right over the top there is more luggage room in a 1500 a lot better than the 1800 cc But the 1800 cc get Fantastic ks on each tank Sold her for $23k Aud .Bought a 1150 RT BMW .

I'm a Harley rider (03' FXDX) an bought GL 1500 Goldwing yesterday! Yee Haa! Guy said he was too old, I'm ten years older than he is, haha! He just missed out on ten yrs great riding? Oh right, he'll just use his second one! An I got this one beat with a windshield wiper with delay, haha! (Ever see bike with windshield/delay? First for me an it's clean sweep)!
I just got a 96 Aspencade for Father’s Day, it only has 54000 on it. Looking forward to getting out on the road with it.

Hey Sean im in australia and looking at getting the 1800 valkyrie either new or a very low km one....whats your thoughts on the valkyrie and as in second hand what to look for as in problems. Also whats the difference between 2014 and 2018 models. Apart from price of course lol. I can get a mint 2014 for $14000 aust or a brand new 2018 for $19990. Also love your vids...cheers

The only problem with a GL1500 having 150K is that you're still breaking in.
Transmission is not happy in high miles, the top end is fine tho, they tend to pop out of gear went they get old

I have a 99 glse, picked it up in Austin Texas after I wrecked my Yamaha V star. Road it all the way to Rochester NY with no issues. I just love this bike. It will be my last bike. Only had 25 k on it when I got it. The video made me want to take her out but we have freezing rain......

I've been tryna add a mint condition 80's Goldwing to my stable for a while now.
I had the early 80s 1200 after I ducked it up it felt like a recliner unfortunately it is really easy to go to sleep on it.
99k on my 1984 GL 1200! Plenty of power

Out of the six wings Ive owned,I think four had over 100k when I sold them.About the only issue I had,(and this was with all),the valve cover gaskits would start leaking above 100 k.A pretty easy fix,but honestly,Im a slob,it didnt hurt anything,so I just ignored it

Shoot i have a 2001 goldwing 1800, i got 239k mile on it you won't even know, ride brand new engine and transmission are original, I'm still messing with the speed 🚲 bikes out here

Great bike that goldwing I was in town the other day getting coffee, belmont shores long bch,2 goldwings come rolling down into town I had to double take,is that a blonde woman riding, yep,they pull over,park up,she rode that goldwing like it was a vespa lol

Goldwings started only because old guys wanted to drink coffee and ride at the same time. It all boils down to that.
Yeah, that and wanted to be comfortable. Comfortable enough to put 800+ miles a day, packing everything ya might want. Hell I bought my first one when I was 25 (with a trailer). Then again it's real handy to go to the store with, ya don't need bungees (unless your going to home depot). It's amusing how many people knock the goldwing, yet it comes with a lot of the stuff that people try to replicate with after market parts... to each their own. I'm comfortable knowing my 2013 will last till the day I die. Oh sure I'll add more bikes, I'm thinking a FJR will come home in the near future... but the wing will be the go to for comfort, ya can't beat it.
