    Im 36 and been riding Harley's since I was 19. Just yesterday I suddenly had my mind blown by a Goldwing. Wow what a machine! They don't look like a old man's bike anymore !

      Sir, I'm 68, and after an e heart attack and a stroke, I never stopped riding my #13th bike in my life, a beautiful gold 1985 Goldwing 1200cc with 50K miles fully loaded with everything you will ever want. Yes, I buy a full week of groceries every weekend and I don't feel any weight or that she feels heavy. The bike is just as good as my past Honda vehicles I had.. I love this bike and I ride every weekend, especially the last 5 years I do one to two hours of slow-speed training. Now I have about 300 hours and this is the greatest pleasure I hope to continue to have until I'm gone. I began in 1972 and here I am now.

    33 here. Picked up a 2012 goldwing last august. 12K miles later, and it has been nothing but miles of smiles for my wife and I. just finished a 10 day, 3300 mile road trip. 10 years ago I would have never have thought I'd ever give up my sport bikes.

    "It really is designed I suppose for grey hairs, but..."
    I bought my 2012 model at age 39. Not an overwhelming presence of grey on my head yet, but I love my Wing.

      +Keem Osabe Fair enough! However, I'd say it's usually those of us with grey hairs who have the time to go on an epic tour. But - literally - more power to yah! It's a great motorcycle - a classic.

    • @richardmourdock2719

      Exactly, the gray hair gives me the time to do the epic 8 to 15,000 miles rides. A six cylinder Laz-y-Boy ... except my Laz-y-Boy doesn't have a heated seat or heated arm rests.

    My bride of well over 50 years and I left for a 10 day trip and got back home 28 states and 26 days later. We pull and Aspen Classic camper with A/C and king size bed. The only reason we returned home was because our money ran out. Social Security is a bummer. Now if we won the lottery we would probably spend months on the bike enjoying the USA and maybe Canada.

    The only thing standing between me and buying a Harley is a center stand. And this bike has one. So I think I will start financing a gold wing soon.

    I had the first Gold Wing prototype auctioned at CYCLEWAY in NEW YORK MILLS. NY and serviced and picked up from a shop in Westmoreland NY just down the road. That bike would cruise 165mph all day long- two up. With a 500 mile gallon fuel tank I could go from NYC to L.A. and back in 48 hours. average 150 mph , and with a carbon fiber bike with sleek aero and a twin turbo charged engine when quick speed spurts are needed they can be achieved with speeds approaching 300mph in spaces where it is possible it should be done. I had the Bike that was on the back cover December 1973 CYCLE magazine on the road in April 1974, 4 months before the Gold Wing official launch August 1974 as the 1975 Honda Gold Wing. My high bid for the bike was $800 over original sticker $2695, which was not even known then.
    just over 6 bucks a day to be the ONLY GOLD WING RIDER ALIVE, no better bargain did any soul receive.

    The Goldwing is one of the few bikes (I've never owned one) that always makes me question my most recent purchase decision afterwards. I'm always asking myself why I didn't buy the Wing. I like it that much, just never pulled the trigger.

      @@wingandhog I tried to buy a "new in the crate 2016" GW back at the end of 2019 but the dealership tried to lowball me on my Harley trade-in. So much so that I walked out in disgust. I wasn't going to give my $24k Harley to them. I wound up trading my Street Glide in on a 2018 Star Venture and received $2,500 more on my trade. But I still think about that GW that got away, lol.

    First of all, I owned a 1984 Goldwing Interstate, and it is a 1200, not 1100. The 1100 came out in 1980, and lasted through 1983. The 1984-1987 GL1200 was a completely different bike, not just 100cc more. I owned that bike for several years, and was very happy with it. I had the base Interstate model, so it was pretty simple and had very few gadgets, something I appreciate in any bike. The simpler the better. I think Honda has gone way too far with the Goldwing, both in size and price. Oh, and too many gadgets. There is no reason a 1200cc four cylinder Goldwing wouldn't be just as good today as it was 33 years ago. Now I'm hearing rumors about an automatic transmission Goldwing. How far is Honda going to go? It's already a two wheeled car, and costs more than a lot of really nice cars. I think I would buy a convertible over the late model Goldwing.

    • @cerealtiller
      @cerealtiller 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I own an '86 1200 Interstate....and still think it is the best looking 'Wing' of them all.
      the latest DCT is very tempting though...the Front Lights on the 1800 spoilt an otherwise fine Bike.

    Last summer my wife and I rented one on L.A., and over the course of the next week put a couple thousand miles on it and then flew back home to Florida from El Paso. We enjoyed the bike, it was comfortable in every way, but it had one flaw that drove me nuts. Down shifting to first was awful. The last Honda I had was a Silver wing and I put 68,000 miles on it, so I'm not a Honda novice. But the expected sophistication of this bike was tarnished by this one seemingly minor clunk. Having talked with three other owners, all have told me me my experience was no surprise.

    • @Ultra54able

    • @dcijams

      but, it's the same bike, you can lower your seating, by the damping on the buttons just below the dashboard

    • @spideybusa
      @spideybusa 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      dcijams I don't think the F6B has that same option like the full GL1800. That's was one of the weight saving items they left off of the F6B. Along with cruise and reverse. At least on the 13 and 14 ym's.

    I'll give them fit, but the finish?? The paint on my '14 murdered out black GW is horrible! Who thought jeans could ever do such a number to a gas tank ...I mean the space between the knees? I tried rubbing compound, but it didn't do anything and doubt I'll ever get around to painting it ...I would much rather get the Full Monty with Helibars for that kind of money.
    Other than that, it's a real winner! I would never consider replacing it with a 2018+ or any other motorcycle.

    If you have to have all the frills that a car has why not drive a car? Goldwingers wear helmets and hi-vis clothes all the time so where is this open air feeling of freedom you are supposed get? There's not much real motorcycling on a Goldwing.

    • @TOURMANBOB
      @TOURMANBOB 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      What is "real motorcycling". The Wing will run with most sport bikes if you want that kind of driving, plus ride the Interstates with real comfort. I've put over 100K miles on a Wing and that's more real motorcycling than most sport bikes ever do tearing up the curves on the county roads, or driving from bar to bar on main street. It is the ultimate motorcycle and has 40 years of history to show for it.....
