I really loved this Video..... In one way, it also re affirmed the fact that, these Tai Chi Forms have been passed down from generation to generation, with great respect, and passion in China. For me, and perhaps other Tai Chi teachers in the UK, its a little different ,where we have to travel, seek out and find our own teachers.

Taiji is a wonderful internal art form. I promotes peace of mind, flexibility of limbs, and good health. However, it is not practical as a useful form of martial arts. Many will say that this or that move has practical applications, and legends abound where masters use the Qi cultivated from Taiji to propel opponents across the room with instantly generated force (what practitioners call Fa Jing, or 发劲。I am Chinese and I have practiced Wu Shu of various kinds. I now feel that most wu shu lack practical applications. In real life, people don't attack in slow motion, from pre-choreographed directions. They don't push hands or allow their hands and arms to be caught in the 8 basic movements. They throw wild and fast punches, or kick viciously. In recent years many grand masters of wu shu in China have tried to use wu shu in actual fights, or even MMA contests. They get beaten to a pulp. To win fights, you must be fast, strong, be willing to hit, and be able to be hit and continue to fight. You must practice and build cardio. Taiji, and almost all Chinese wushu, almost never do that. However, I still think it has a place as a way to promote good health.

Today, most of the people practice Yang Taichi for nourishment 養生. But the ultimate and highest purpose of all martial arts schools was fighting, so was Yang Lu chan's time.
Fighting on a mattress or in a cage is impossible for any Taiji to match. But if you apply Tai chi techniques to fighting on the street, it is not too bad (of course, for people to fight often, not to dance and go out instantly to find opponents). :)))

Spider Salticidae my friend, there may be no action to justify any martial art. Engagement is always changing, henceforth the survivor will be able to adapt tactics to fit the circumstance. One may find taiji exercises beneficial for conditioning and may even be able to apply a technique here or there for combat. Ultimately the person who wins is the one who can adapt and withstand pressure, not the one who sticks to a rigid art or system.

But they are often right in the fact that most practitioners of Taiji have little or no combat training. Taiji is deadly when done correctly and definitely not for sport fighting. It is mostly ineffective when wearing boxing type gloves. Personally I have been doing marital arts for 30 years. Karate, kickboxing and judo mostly. For the last 7 years Taiji. I have found Taiji to be good for true self-defense, not good for sparing, play fighting. But like I said most Taiji people have no idea of the MARTIAL practise of their art... I am not going to get into an argument of this fact and have only said this for education purposes. Kia ora, be well

Exhibitbrightkeen you probably aren’t updated with the latest development in the past few years. In China, there is now a famous amateur MMA coach named Xu Xiaodong, who challenged the entire Taichi world to fight him to proof Taichi can fight against MMA. Not a single top Taichi master dared to fight him, not even the top of the top supreme masters like Chen Xiaowang or Wang Zhanjun would dare to take him on.
The moment when you realized the absolute strongest Taichi masters could not beat an amateur MMA coach, you realized Taichi simply cannot beat MMA in hand to hand combat.
