I'm a Hung Kuen practitioner that moved to Hong Kong to learn. Over time, I've taken classes in Muay thai, Judo, BJJ and others as a way to learn how to apply the techniques and defend against the other styles. What I found was this: The shapes in the forms (taolu) in Chinese Martial Arts are so ancient that they can be applied across all of the arts that I have named. But, without actually practicing with a partner or other people then one cannot improve the actual roots of the system - just as we cannot become happier without others.

That was profound. I absolutely love forms!

I love that this woman is 73 years old and has flexibility that trumps most 18 year olds. The lesson to take away from many of these CGTN Kung Fu videos is martial arts will keep you physically fit and mentally alive. Considering the few number of fights one is likely to get into in most modern day societies, this is a really good reason to learn martial arts.

That was the most intelligent comment under a martial arts video I have ever seen.

I am in [somewhere] In China and we get into fights almost every other day. Sometimes with cheap weapons and knives. So your comment is nonsense. People get killed without any ability to fight.

@@ErraticFaith Learn to read. "most modern day societies" is plural and your exception of somewhere in China doesn't make the rule. So your comment is nonsense.

Both this and the CLF forms are derivatives of the Shaolin plum Blossom. Where CLF added the signature moves like the Sau, Jong or Kup this form seems to simplify a lot of the Shaolin internals and twisting to something easier to transmit, which makes sense if this was codified around the time of the cultural revolution.
