Vauxhall has promised an electric version of every car in its range, and we’ve now seem them all - except one. Now it’s time to see the last piece in its puzzle and the flagship of the brand’s line up - the new Grandland….
Last year, Vauxhall revealed a really pretty concept car called the Experimental. It was a bit too bonkers for production, but there are a lot of the elements which have been translated into this car, the new Grandland.
It’s not quite as swoopy, but it does have a new face of Vauxhalls: a 3D version of the ‘Vizor’ we’ve seen before and an illuminated Vauxhall Griffin logo. These haven’t been legal in Europe before because there was a worry that you might be mistaken for a motorbike, but they now are allowed.
Talking of firsts - the Grandland is the first to use Vauxhall’s new ‘Compass’ design direction, with a sort of hot cross bun effect on the lights and creases at front and rear. Look at the light bars and bodywork.
The Grandland is the first Vauxhall based on the same ‘platform’ as the Peugeot 3008 which Ginny drove a month ago. As a result, it has a very similar mechanical layout. Customers will have two drivetrain choices. The cheapest will have a 207bhp, front motor and a 73kWh battery, giving a range of around 325 miles. A twin-motor, four-wheel-drive will boost the total output to 321bhp but is expected to have the same range, due to its ability to capture more regen energy under braking. Clever. The range topper will have a massive 98kWh battery, taking the range to a whopping 435 miles.
Charging to 80% will take around 26 minutes from a DC rapid charger. There will also be a Plug-in Hybrid offering around 53 all-electric miles of range. And a pure petrol version if you want to be old-fashioned about it….
Join Nicola as she takes a look around the new Vauxhall Grandland. Has Vauxhall built a winner? Would you choose one over a Skoda Enyaq or new Renault Scenic? Let us know in the comments below.

Looks nice, stylish without pushing too hard. For me, it's too big but a good looking car for most of the people.
Far more impressive than I was expecting to be honest. Still a big fat SUV but a nice one.
that's a very well thought car. I think we're finally seeing what the guys at Opel/Vauxhall are up to under Stellantis umbrella than GM strings. as far they are leaving the GM products behind, the linup seems to get better and better. funny isn't?
It's actually perfect for what it is, big family hauler, Opel good work.
@@PhilBaxter cry about it.
Looks really smart, and if it came on at the same AP as the ID4 that I've ordered, I'd have probably swapped my Grandland for this.
I bought a cushion with a tailbone cutout for use in my SUV. It changed my life, I could sit in there for hours now.
Nicola ❤
Once you have a Vauxhall you'll never get another one unless you're mad.
😂😂😂
Worst car I have ever owed would never consider the mark ever
Agreed. Bought one brand new in 2021 and kept it 9 months as it was so bad. Thanks to COVID, and the lack of new cars, I only lost £600. Lesson learned.
@@nicksmpsn6546 which one? GM era or one of the three post GM models (current Corsa, Mokka and Astra)?
@@mirkozlikovski9553 It was an Astra following Vauxhall's takeover by Stilantis. It had the 1.2 turbo Peugeot unit.
A spirit of wow.
Never ever thought I'd be impressed by nor be persuaded by or, want a Vauxhall.. just a 'me' thing really, truly never done it for me, EV SUV possibility wise have always veered towards European offerings. I've loved possibly french offerings moreso?? 🤔🤔but.. this seems a game changer on numerous levels. If it actually drives as it looks, appeals.. then it could just happen!
Same here. With a growing family (ie. Height wise teenage/pre-teenage children) this looks like it could fit the bill. Will see how it compares to the Enyaq when review comes out.
Fingers crossed on the price. Hopefully Stellantis will have enough sense to undercut the Tesla MY, which is probably the benchmark in this segment. Although as far as I am concerned this seems to be a more practical car than the TMY.

Nice looking Opel
Fruit pastel holder in the rear... I'm sold, where do I sign up?
Hold on, just got to the front seats... is there no piano black slathered all over the place? Great!
You are right about this Scenic or Enyaq; I now have another car I want to test drive... current list (In no particular order):
Polestar 2
Volvo EX30
Smart #3
Skoda Enyaq
Renault Scenic
and now this
Not a fan of the BYD Seal or Tesla 3, but would like to add another saloon to the list as I prefer a saloons.
Been waiting for this car for years, gutted to see fabric seats on the top spec. Does it have a leather seats option for people with dust mite allergy?
You could always get a specialist to do it for you if not.
Really nice....I want one . Great range that's impressive
Très belle voitures 🚗
I once spent a grand on a night out in Switzerland. It was a really fun night out!
First Vauxhall I've seen that I might actually want to buy in years..... The last one was the VXR8...!
Just ordered a 1.2 Petrol Ultimate, delivery is next week, 3 days to register it, then all mine.
For many years I have wondered why they keep with the Vauxhall brand and haven't just switched to using Opel. Anyway, we will be looking for a new EV in about 12 months' time so this will go on the list with the Enyaq, Scenic and 3008. The main challenge with Grandland and 3008 will be the pricing
This is allot more spacious, the 3008 is cramped.
@@oliverstemp9132i think the Grandland compete more with the 5008, not the 3008 dimension wise
@@micheleoncini8369 apparently it will match the 3008 on price
Fab review! Gorgeous looking car, cant wait to see it in showrooms
I reckon with the two motor one , with that boot gap they should have a lockable door /flap there so you can get to your cables without having to empty the boot when it’s full as there will be no frunk 😊👍👍
Will it be priced well like the Scenic?
Doubt it, the electric vauxhauls Are overpriced.
My 1966 Wolseley had a lit up badge too... Did they unmake that legal in between?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought of Wolseley's light-up badges when she said that. I was a bit too young to own one though.
Price?
I love her.
Looks nice, well a lot nicer than the Astra Estate that’s for sure! Will need to see how it compares to key rivals like the Enyaq and Model Y RWD.
Honestly I thought you were being sarcastic at the beginning when you said “introducing you to the all new Vauxhall grandland” 😂
Looks nice and simple, like the Opel of my childhood.
Nice color and nice interior. They have reduced the piano black but kept it on the steering wheel... that's bad.
Good for the paddles and the big batteries!
If the price is right they could sell it, even if the Enyaq and the Scenic are some good alternatives
No there is nothing on the steering wheel, there is nothing shiny at all on the steering wheel, not even the emblem...
Lets hope its better than the old one ,
ifs its got a light up badge a defiantly
want one ................
This one has been a long time coming. The Mokka was very disappointing, but this looks great and really well thought out. Well done Vauxhall.
You mean Peugeot
@@garystreet6756 It's not that simple...
Since this one has a longer wheelbase and a different body and interior from the back seat onwards, it's also a different chassis setting and other components, and a different suspension with self-adjusting shock absorbers and the headlights and seats that are not found in Peugeot at all .
Peugeot has not been involved in any of these changes and differences.
@@Djeseret I will concede it’s better looking than the old model which is bland boring and ugly compared to the 3008. The French don’t have a great track record in supporting UK brands. I’m old enough to remember Roots and Hillman wiped out by Peugeot.
You know they were just rebadged Chevrolet before that.
@@oliverstemp9132 Yes it is a very... interesting topic…
A well-kept secret on par with the cover-up of UFOs on American bases, is GM's stone-cold ban on revealing how much work Opel did for American GM.
GM was afraid that the American brand and the national pride that it was 100 % American designed and developed cars would be damaged, if it came out that it was not true.
When Opel worked at its peak for American GM, more than 50 % of the Opel business consisted of designing and engineering, what everyone... in the US thought were all-American products...
In fact, apart from the very largest and SUV / pickups and the Corvette and the Camaro, (with the exception of some minor detail such as the steering wheel which is sometimes designed by Opel) - the majority of Chevrolets are designed and even technically engineered in Europe by Opel and not by GM in the US.
This task was carried out on behalf of Chevrolet according to Chevrolet's specifications and wishes to suit the American market, but still, it was Opel who did the work.
I even have rare photo evidence of how a covered prototype of the new 2016 Chevrolet Cruze being rolled out from Opel Deign, or GM Design Europ As it was then called, because they worked for many GM brands.
Sometimes Opel has leaked images where they are working on components for Chevrolet in the background, without commenting on what is going on.
There are masked cars that briefly rolled in Europe, but which then appear in some remote part of the US and which then turn out to be a new Chevrolet or Buick.
In some cases, they even retain Opel's special camouflage that was not used by American GM.
The American prestige project Chevrolet Volt is based on the Opel Astra and around 86 % of the technology was developed and engineered by Opel who also developed the finished car and made everything work
Volt appearance and body was designed in the US by Chevrolet, this time only certain components of the visible such as steering levers and the steering wheel came from Opel, transferred straight from Astra, but if you look at the interior and the design of the panel, you recognize that it is an Astra underneath the surface.
The entire program and technical development was transferred from Germany to the US for the final work under the direction of Opel engineers and Opel product manager and electric car expert Frank Weber - Now BMW's technical development manager who led the development of BMW's entire electric car program, he was bought over by an impressed BMW right after the VOLT program was finished.
The purpose of this was to hide the foreign interference and to market that GM was important to the US and was driving American leadership and American superior technology - for political reasons, as GM received government support during the economic crisis.
The fact that the new leading advanced super technology from GM was not... American, could have caused major political problems in Washington.
And speaking of electric cars... the famous GM EV1 was entirely based on technology developed by Opel and carried over from the Opel Astra Impulse 3
With a new battery and a new electric motor, but otherwise based on the Astra, that too...
You will find one of the preserved EV1s in the Opel museum for this reason.
Opel design chief Mark Adams was head of Cadillac design in 2012 and 2013.
So, to put it simply, it's Chevrolet and Buick that are rebadged Opel...
Very nice EV
It looks very impressive. I'm not a real Vauxhall fan, but at least they are moving forward in quality, style and technology as is the rest of Stellantis. Unlike Ford where are they.
It looks a great car with good range. I would certainly put it on my wish list.
I don't know much about Vauxhall because I live in Japan, but I only lived in England for 3 years, so I only know the name.
I have a question, why is this car left-hand drive when the UK is right-hand drive? Are you just changing the badge of the temporary Opel model and putting it out in the media?
It would be helpful if someone could tell me.
I'm so doubtful that I can't sleep at night, please let me sleep.
Looks amazing
The back lights is really look nice !
It.s fun comparing the british and german review of this car with exchangable badges 😅
Peugeot makes nice cars nowdays for example the Grandland
Great vid Nicola! I like the styling more than the Astra (which looks weirdly proportioned in the metal), but I feel like Vauxhall's current "visor" design language and blacked-out trim isn't going to age well among its peers. Time will only tell though.
That's good, be a nice price second hand😅
Big question will be the price and I hope that they will be closer to the £30k to mid.
On Stellantis group's current pricing this won't be less than £45000 with top model over £50000.
Then when it doesn't sell they'll provide 'discounts' to what it should be priced to around £35000
It will be priced similar to the sister car Peugeot e-3008 which is close to 50 grand 😅
@@brummiesalteno-81that would be a real shame, this seems to be a genuinely nice car, but £50,000 is too much for a Vauxhall. If Stellantis want to sell this they need to price it just below the Tesla Y.
@@hishamg agreed.
Does it have the Stellantis brakes?
Opel brakes are usually better adjusted than the others... as they are set to cope with constant braking from top speed on the Autobahn, which is a requirement that the other brands do not prioritize.
Oversized car with good range but poor efficiency, expect to see them outside a school near you. Driven by parents who think walking a mile to school is hazardous but it’s ok to have every storage space stuffed with sugary high carb snacks.
I like the chrome delete as standard. One less thing to worry about, come the day of selling/handing back.
Regardless if its vauxhall or opel they all look the same now. The astra looked exciting when released. But now the astra, corsa, mokka or this grand land, they all look identical, you just need to pick a size! Where is the individuality
Really like this, not a huge fan of this colour, though, would look really nice in all black. I am a fan of the interior they seem to have stepped up their game with the layout and infotainment screens and system. I really hope the mileage range claims are within a near ballpark to their WLTP claims. (We all know they are never the WLTP claim) however even being in the 300's this would be a great family SUV.
Hilariously TH-cam saw fit to play a BYD advert while I watched this!
Yeah, I got a Volvo one! Like this car a lot so no contest.
Hold on a second, with this reveal is Opel/Vauxhall now the only legacy automaker whose entire lineup is available electric? The Crossland just got replaced with the Frontera and this Grandland replaces the old one and those were the last holdouts I think.
I think you are right however Peugeot and Renault are not far behind.
Yes, I think so, full marks to Vauxhall. There are downsides, they are quite pricey for Vauxhalls and the WLTP range on the small to midsize models is underwhelming.
@@sharonec5419Renault are ‘fully electrified’ already.
@oliverstemp9132 the clio isn't available as an EV yet, only as a Hybrid
@@carlbell2007 that is ‘electrified’ then.
Stellantist pays for this whole channel
How does a stellantist feel...are they a stellantophile or a stellantophobe I wonder?😂
BRILLIANT. Love the Colour.
I am quite impressed, it is really nice, better than the Peugeot e3008 IMHO. I would consider getting it, if it was reasonably priced and I hadn’t have already ordered a Hyundai Ioniq 5 which is arriving in June.
I love how the brake pads say Mopar.
Anyone noticed how this is Vauxhall and the steering wheel is on the wrong side?
😄 LOL, I have only just noticed that! I wonder where they drive Left hand drive Vauxhalls!
Left hand drive Vauxhall? 😂
Oh yeah🤔🤪
Cheers
nice
How much?
This is probably the first Vauxhall I actually quite like.
It is big though which is fine if you need a big car but probably overkill for most people. From certain angles it has a bit of a Velar vibe going on, or is that just me?
All the petrol versions got check engine light starting from 20k km+ just so yall know.
Why the negative “Not So Grand” headline? I nearly skipped past as I thought you obviously don’t like it. Did I miss the price?
what's the dimensions
Those with large families will love it. You asked, so I'll answer: I'd prefer the Renault Scenic. Too bad we can't get either of them on this side of the pond.
The next Frontera ?
Shame the back seats don't fold flat and only one wireless phone charger??
I do wish manufacturers would be brave and encourage us back towards hatches, saloons and estates rather than SUVs and then we’d have even more range to play with. That said, I do think Vauxhall have done a good job with this car, and the design tweaks and interior are pushing towards being cool again. Put these designs into a hot hatch and that would be a cool car. BUT, we do not need AI in our cars; in one second you’re saying how great it is that they’ve put things in to reduce distraction, like minimal mode and the slightly unnecessary pixel box, and in the other you’re saying it’ll come with ChatGPT. WHY? ChatGPT etc is just not needed in our cars. And if the argument is that you might use it while you’re waiting to charge, that’s just marketing speak. If you stay in your car during charging you’re invariably using your iPad or laptop, most likely you’re in the services having a pee, and the majority of us just charge at home overnight anyway.
Just imagine the depreciation on this monstrosity. 3 year old electric Corsa's with low miles can be purchased for £9k in the UK. New price was £26k 😂
To be fair, the Corsa was/is overpriced and have really bad specs compared to most other vehicles. Like the Astra/308, their specs are like 5-6 year old, yet roughly same price as a Tesla Model 3.
@@Colt16v Good point 👍
But can you get cream upholstery?
I love this channel but this feels like a sponsored sales video. At the very least some indication of pricing and which of all those features Nicola raved about come on the lower priced variations. A more critical video might also have pointed out that, so far, Vauxhall's electric offerings have been entirely uncompetitively priced, or that Nicola herself has not been able to get near the battery efficiency claims Stellantis have been making for their vehicles.
I can’t see Stellantis keeping Opel going indefinitely, the Vauxhall badge even less.
Brands within Stellantis are just competing against one another.
Exactly. And so one could easily imagine the ‘weaker’ ones disappearing…
@@thomash2806 Years ago, the motoring press used to do group tests for different brands which were very much appreciated by car buyers. Now, this doesn't happen because most of the cars in any one segment are from the same conglomerate, VW or Stellantis. Using same platform but with a different body and badge put on
Very Nissan Ariya but in a woeful colour.
Somehow i am distracted by the wide forehead... Not the + or - . Maybe a better styling required to avoid distraction than the car shown
So it's got a Vauxhall badge yet it's left hand drive? Usually left hand drive are Opels? WHy do manufacturers insist on doing this for RHD markets? Really bugs me - there obviously doing RHD build so why not show off the RHD versions???
Because it's logistically easier for their limited run batch of show cars to be the same and they know 99% of people who see this won't care either way
It is an opel where they temporarily changed the badge. Watch one of the german Versions of this Review...
I would choose the Opel/Vauxhall variant over the Peugeot 3008. The seats sold me.
I sit quite low in my car and find some of the brake lights on SUVs at eye level too bright these days. It would be nice to tone them down because people on the space station will start complaining soon.
All a bit grey on the inside is my only criticism.
6.24 and I've had to pause the video.... I can't believe I'm liking a Vauxhall, not since the old Vauxhall Astra estate have I seen so much room in one....
Ok back to the video, where's the catch Nicola, range or price or both?
Oh my goodness...plus 300 mile range on the littlest! That's amazing if true, can't wait to see you drive it to confirm. The only thing I could possibly find "wrong" with it is they're doing a hybrid version but I don't have to buy that.
Wow, we're going to need prizing out of our Ioniq 38kWh but we're always looking for more space for dogs or green-bowls players and their bags! Liked the new Renault Scenic but it is a Renault so we can't have that apparently 😅
This is even better though...I guess you didn't mention a price yet? Ooh excited 😁👍👏👏👏👏
Edited to put a hyphen between green and bowls!
Who says you can't have the Scenic?
@@sharonec5419my wife ! 😂 We're of an age that we remember when Renault's were notorious for their bad electrics. My wife can't forget that history with a Renault electric car.😂
I know, I've tried.....😅🤷
@@judebrown4103 Awe OK. Well all you can do is try. She's the boss.
Evening Nicola
The Vauxhall Grandad does look like a good SUV. Nice and understated.
I’ve never seen a Vauxhall with a steering wheel on the left. I thought all Vauxhalls were British and the rest of the world was Opel?
6:40 The same technology as Peugeot 🥴🥴🥴
It's huge, I'd look like a hobbit in it !
Just change that badge for an Opel one and it immediately improves the car.
The name is dissapointing. Corsa,Mokka,Astra,Frontera,Grandland-(a?)
Also, does the phonebox have a vent? A charging phone is going to overheat in there.
It's such an old-timey sounding name, just makes me think of "Grandad"!
Some nice touches, inoffensive but still slightly bland. I’d hope it undercuts the e-3008 version significantly on price, otherwise it’ll be a depreciation rocket! The Vauxhall brand doesn’t have the kudos and they need a ‘halo EV’ - maybe a VX or even a GTE?
That's great as far as I'm concerned, I want one but would only ever buy used!
Pretty good, just a shame it’s an SUV again, 10% (20%?) energy loss just for being tall.
Peugeot with vauxhall badge
No opel badge
Here comes a 60k Vauxhall
Are they going to change the name to Milan, now?😂
As a British car (hope made in Britain or bit of it), may I suggest one of our wonderfully named towns. Living in the UK, we have so many to choose from that will raise an eyebrow and may cause a snigger or two.
Shitterton or Cockermouth? Nah, not right for this car
Wetwang, Fingeringhoe or Nether Wallop, wait what about Lower Swell... hmmmm? 🤔
No I know, I give you the Vauxhall Netherthong 😆🤣
@@FinglebatI think the only Vauxhalls made in Britain now are some of the Vans (alongside their Citroen, Peugeot, Opel can alternatives)
@@Finglebat LOL...they really are terrible
Looks great but i am not surw of the name. Most of the brands are stricking back at the Chinese market by reinventing an old classic. The only one that comes to mind is the Frontera.
So... is there anything wrong with this car? Any negatives? I know it's just a first look and not a full review, but it sounds like a fanboy ad.
Often they advise you buy the launch colour; but in this case I’ll take a pass on ‘baby diarohea brown’ or whatever Vauxhall calls it.
I mean really, who doesn’t want a comfy bum?!😂
It looks good, so let’s hope they don’t price it like their other electric cars!
Expect Stellantis rip off prices then DISCOUNTS!
Still not enough room for a wheelchair.
Those of us with disabled folk in our families are stuck using cars from the early 2000's
Does anyone else confuse this name and accidently say vauxhall Granddad?
I wonder how many extra quid you got ???????????
Looks really nice but another huge car unfortunately. I'm having a brain crisis recently where I really fancy a nice big car to get all our kids and dogs in etc but I'm not liking other huge cars being on the road and just clogging up the streets and parking spaces. I went to the vets the other day, 6 small cars on one side of the small car park, on the other side, 3 SUV'S slung in the same space. 😞
Thank you for a lively preview.
With the best will in the world Vauxhall have never set my heart racing. You have explained in detail why I should love this car, but I just don’t. Doubtless it will sell well, but not to me.
Looks a bit "meh" compared to the 3008 imo. Some of the interior design ideas are good though. Not a big fan of light-up badges if I'm honest, it'll just become like Vegas or Blackpool when you're stuck in traffic at night - neon car adverts everywhere! Just needs to be a good price which, going by recent Stellantis pricing decisions, is unlikely - at least at launch....
Was this a paid promotion video? Didn’t notice a banner on the video stating so. Suspiciously over enthusiastic for a Vauxhall 1st look. Other than a small ‘scratchy plastic’ mention in the back not one thing wrong with the vehicle? I can imaging that cut out section of the rear bumper leaving some corners exposed could kneecap a few people when loading or unloading the boot!
These first look videos are rarely negative because the whole event is controlled by the manufacturer (so any negatives such as a dodgy infotainment are hidden). Unless there's something catastrophically wrong with the interior or exterior It's not until the first drive review that you really get any idea about how good the car actually is.
Never thought I’d actually *like* the look of a Vauxhall/Opel before, but here we are!!
What do I think, I think you’re bonkers
