Classic government. Spend money on something they could otherwise profit and fund further conservation with. And by spend money, I mean tax the shit out of us, and spend it wastefully.

Everything from how government-owned “conservation”/public land is utilized/under-utilized to wasteful spending at every level will disgust anyone who truly “cares” about taking care of the land and wildlife effectively. The problem is NOT the amount of money they have or even supporting the efforts, it’s the fact that often these efforts are wasteful, and designed to merely meet a spending budget, or give the appearance of positive impact, with a lack of real results or even negative impact. Mostly because it’s very difficult to spend your way to success if the land isn’t producing to help support the efforts. Government, in many cases can’t profit from any production the land might provide. And while profits aren’t the necessary focus of conservation, it always seems to me any productive ag land, or privately-owned operation supports far more wildlife, including quality plants, trees and animals, than mess on government-managed conservation lands here. In top of that these lands aren’t supporting area public schools’ revenue through property tax, nor are they producing profitable/marketable goods that well-planned and wildlife-integrated farming/ranching could do. Instead, they fall trees with machines, mow grass with machines, and till everything from turnips to legumes that end up supporting feral hogs and armadillos, as opposed to the deer, rabbits, turkey, etc. Then hire/pay trappers to wastefully dispose of said hogs. Disallowing local hunters to do so in these areas. While the problem the “Conservation” Dept. has heavily supported spreads to neighboring private/productive land. I wasn’t insinuating or attempting to trigger you with the idea that conservation was bad. My point is Government and their spend is mostly bad at conservation. I liked seeing that the Idaho Fish and Game Commission has put up their meetings here on TH-cam. They are very long (4 hours plus) but I learned a lot from watching. i spent a few years working for that state's Fish and Game Department years ago.
ive donated to many and vollunteer for many but one day i became homeless and doing without and all those non profit orgs i helped and funded wouldnt lift a finger to help me , a homeless disabled vet !!. i will never donate ever again . people are getting rich and buying big boat while our vets including me where struggling to eat. how many orgs are there for vets ? not one would help me. i stayed homeless for years. today i help vets get outdoors hunting and fishing ( the fallen outdoors ) but even it is corrupt so i do it myself. its sad but true

This conversation about politics is so disconnected from the reality of the landscape. There's a lot of talk about Michigan and midwest accents... While there are a handful of swing states in that area, it is far from the coastal elites who are ruling the roost at the moment. I'd expect a more sane approach to politics and hunting/fishing management from the midwest. The conversation around wolves is pretty fucking nutty. The wolf species they're putting in colorado is invasive because they were never there. Putting grizzly bears back in Washington state is 100% insane. People voting on these policies have no clue the long-term impact to these policies. They're talking about repopulating jaguars in the southwest. This bizarre gravity to putting these apex predators in a place to live and eat and dealing with their territorialism. Other that "biodiversity" there isn't any conversation, justification, EIA, or data to substantiate these policies and actions. No tags allowed to cull even if they deem it 100% mistake (10j for "experimental"). The parity of this inconsistent insanity is the nonsensical approach to managing the owls in Washington. The application of the ESA in this administration is a laughing stock. Polis should be tarred and feathered for his asinine approach to game management in CO. It's almost like they're spreading propaganda to the masses to push an agenda where the outcome is annoying and inconvenient at best and at worst, people getting eaten and wild animals getting tortured. Trump implemented the GAOA, which is one of the biggest and best conservation policies of our lifetimes and let the states manage their wildlife like we have always done.
Why not establish waypoints? If you want to change a law for conservation. Lets say (hypothetically) "The Beaver Reintroduction Act" and you reintroduce all these beavers and it leads to flooding. Why not, within the scope of the original bill, set evaluation points to assess if our interaction is having an adverse affect? That way we can remove the problems we introduced. It seriously doesn't seem like progess is the point, rather the idea of progess, where we're constantly working to counteract our previous counter-action. Fucking stopping is an option too, considering mother nature was doing just fine when we were a part of it rather than trying to control it.

I agreed on the coyote decision only because of pups, but I believe that any animal doing or about to do damage should be able to be taken without any permit or permission. With exceptions for federally protected species for which the DNR should be responsible for the full potential cost of whatever is damaged.

This conversation about politics is so disconnected from the reality of the landscape. There's a lot of talk about Michigan and midwest accents... While there are a handful of swing states in that area, it is far from the coastal elites who are ruling the roost at the moment. I'd expect a more sane approach to politics and hunting/fishing management from the midwest.
The conversation around wolves is pretty fucking nutty. The wolf species they're putting in colorado is invasive because they were never there. Putting grizzly bears back in Washington state is 100% insane. People voting on these policies have no clue the long-term impact to these policies. They're talking about repopulating jaguars in the southwest. This bizarre gravity to putting these apex predators in a place to live and eat and dealing with their territorialism. Other that "biodiversity" there isn't any conversation, justification, EIA, or data to substantiate these policies and actions. No tags allowed to cull even if they deem it 100% mistake (10j for "experimental"). The parity of this inconsistent insanity is the nonsensical approach to managing the owls in Washington. The application of the ESA in this administration is a laughing stock. Polis should be tarred and feathered for his asinine approach to game management in CO. It's almost like they're spreading propaganda to the masses to push an agenda where the outcome is annoying and inconvenient at best and at worst, people getting eaten and wild animals getting tortured.
Trump implemented the GAOA, which is one of the biggest and best conservation policies of our lifetimes and let the states manage their wildlife like we have always done.
So who does meateater put their support behind?
Why not establish waypoints? If you want to change a law for conservation. Lets say (hypothetically) "The Beaver Reintroduction Act" and you reintroduce all these beavers and it leads to flooding. Why not, within the scope of the original bill, set evaluation points to assess if our interaction is having an adverse affect? That way we can remove the problems we introduced.
It seriously doesn't seem like progess is the point, rather the idea of progess, where we're constantly working to counteract our previous counter-action.
Fucking stopping is an option too, considering mother nature was doing just fine when we were a part of it rather than trying to control it.

Steve IS a politician. He wants to be movie star famous I truly believe that has always been his primary goal. He uses hunting as his platform to do that.
