  • Victor Davis Hanson, a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Distinguished Fellow at Hillsdale College, Pepperdine professor, syndicated columnist, bestselling author, and fifth-generation California farmer, argues in his July 29, 2024 article that American society is treating its citizens like lab rats, resulting in harmful outcomes. God bless you because Foreman field workers, truck drivers, and our military are the backbone of the USA. It’s different than working for the railroad unless people worked in construction like they did years ago when the Railways were being billed, and that was super super hard, hot work, and backbreaking work working in the fields.
God bless you and I don’t know where you live now but I’ll send you so much love from southern Virginia USA !!! I was born living in the city, but my grandparents lived in the country on a horse ranch, and I remember taking water to them in the winter because their water would freeze up, and when I was a little kid and we went to visit, we were always having to take water to them a couple times a day because occasionally it would get real cold here for a couple weeks and I remember carrying bales of straw and I was strong as an ox when I was 12 and kids with whom I attended school couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t lift what I did. I was a gymnast and a soccer player but I told them go do some farm or ranch work for about a month and tell me how you feel. Yeah you’re sore and really really sore for a couple weeks but then you get over it and you get strong

My dad was a carpenter, I remember working with him at a doctors office many years ago, the doctor needed a door hung. This was in the sixties before all the cool battery tools, so my dad used a chisel and hammer to carve out and set the hinges, a bit and brace to drill the holes for the lockset, he cut the trim by hand and crafted everything to fit and look perfect. He gave the doctor the bill, and the doctor complained about the price, my dad asked him why charged as much as he did and the doctor said something like, "I had to go through years of school and years as an intern to learn to be a doctor". So my father said to him, "I can't take out an appendix, but you can't hang a door". You can't argue that. I miss him and his simple wisdom dearly.

63 attorney here, after retirement I dedicated all of my time to restoring my house, which was built in 1944. I watched a lot of DYI videos, and learned to do simple plumbing and electrical repairs. And afterwards, when I needed to hire a plumber, electrician, roofer, etc., they would let me help whenever possible. I also spent a lot of time buying parts at the supply stores (and not at Home Depot). I have great respect for "honest" tradesmen, and in many ways I believe that they contribute more to our society than the +1 million lawyers practicing today.

      @skeetorkiftwon 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +22

@@larrybulthouse455 Most of the industry is plagued by so many issues it's not worth the squeeze. For example:
People who are running the "trade schools" are really selling product "systems," building "inspectors" demand the "systems" be used.
There's comparable money to be made "streaming" videos if you're talented at all, which the trades also require.
High wages for low skill work like burger flipping making the kids not want to get into the trades... because they can't rationalize only making a few dollars more an hour to lift heavy stuff in some of the most deadly jobs for, after taxes, another $150-$200/week, meanwhile they're a net loss for weeks if not months to train.
The high rents, vehicle costs, insurance, etc makes getting them to buy their own tools basically a starvation lifestyle with no fun in downtime. If they're getting $1,000/week gross (about 700 take home) and their rent/auto/insurance/phone/food (1,000/250/250/50/400) is $2k a month..a single battery tool is most of their disposable budget.
Illegals are everywhere in the trades and they aren't even checked for insurance etc. They never get messed with. Over half my competition is illegal and a good half of what remains is "good ole boy" boomers with illegal labor rolling over shelf LLCs before they break $150k in profit. You can buy illegals by the month from the cartels. It's food, shelter, and $500 per week per man that you pay the cartel guy, not the debt slaves. I've been offered, and I know guys that use them.
The customers can't afford what they want, but they "saw it done on HGTV in a weekend." Insurers are dropping carpenters left and right, plumbing and electrical locks people into years and years of apprenticeships that I've personally seen abused repeatedly by boomers who didn't want competition.
Most tradesmen now refuse to work under anyone because of the exploitation they experienced coming up. Like the 600,000 mechanic shortage, no one wants to get paid 50% of the profit for 100% of the work.
As a master carpenter, how many apprentices do you have? I'd wager if not your own kids, it's none.

Tradesman became disrespected in this country; everyone wanted to be an academic. They removed autoshop, woodshop, metalshop from the schools; like it was dirty to work with your hands. Now we have a generation that can't do anything, but we have plenty of lawyers, politicians and police, who can't build anything.

This episode got me really choked up. My father was raised on, and worked his family's citrus farm. When he came of age, he like his older brothers, enlisted in the military. He worked hard as a diesel mechanic most of his adult life, in harsh conditions. He provided for his family and gave me and my brother a wonderful example to follow. This man wrote a check for my college education a semester at a time. He is a conservative and a very patriotic American. Yet some feel that HE is what's wrong with America, because he stands on his values and refuses to bend the knee to the entitled leftists that would have the nerve to call him "deplorable." I owe my father everything, and we in civilized society owe a debt of gratitude to all of those men and women who get up early, pack a lunch, and go off to do the hard work every day.

Yes, being a farmer is a pejorative term, and I spent a large part of my life feeling ashamed to say I was Mennonite. But the work ethic served me well, and now that I'm in my 60's, I say it unapologetically. (Not proudly, because that's not the Mennonite way lol). Farmers are the backbone of any country. Period. Don't forget a lot of time people treat something as a negative out of their own insecurity and inadequacies, and like children, they take it out on the other person. Most are rabid hypocrites who are compensating.

I’m from a strong German Catholic farming community.
Hardest working people are farmers, who still understand growing food to feed their families. That seems to have been lost and in the past- made to seem ‘less’ so people can’t feed their own families.. a huge evil scam.
God wants us to be able to feed our own families without relying on the grocery stores.
There’s a beautiful trend back to ‘homesteading’. Which is helping to reteach skills that were being lost.

Communism is an intellectual ideal (very misguided), whereas Conservatism takes the world as it is, together with all the "unfairness", which is not seen as an evil, it's just the way the world works, there is not need to correct or eliminate it. There should be opportunities for social advancement for those who wish to take them, for example via education. Those with intelligence and the ability to work hard can succeed. Farming teaches one about the raw reality of life, it's not fair, and the laws of nature rule supreme. @@BaliXpres If I may offer a bit of advice as I also suffer from a chronic back injury. Look into getting a device called a "Teeter Hang-Up" . Get the original, not an imitation. It has worked a miracle on my back, my wife's neck and many others I have recommended it to.
It is an inversion support device that induces traction on your spine.
In physiology there is a Law called "Wolf's Law. It states that Connective tissue is laid down along lines of stress. Out of proper native alignment and the body will begin repair out of alignment and reinforce the disease state. This has a negative impact on nerves, vessels, lymph, surrounding tissue and endocrine system. Chronic inflammation follows that can lead to decompensation in other nearby structures and systems and even to cancer risk.
Inducing proper alignment via traction allows your spine a rest. Opens up blood flow to areas compacted by gravity. It allows fluid to flow back into the spinal discs and rehydrate. This opens up the intervertebral foramen (holes) where the nerves pass through.
Via Wolf's Law...allows your body to repair itself in proper alignment.
Combine this with good nutrition, stretching Range of Motion exercises, breathing techniques and strength training and it is possible to fully heal and reverse a chronic injury.
I dont know your specific case so you should consult with your Dr about it.
One last thing. Though you can fully invert upside down, its not recommended to do that if you cant tolerate it...Rather, the best results are when you invert 5 degrees to 15 degrees or so. It can be set up with stop limits so there is no fear of getting stuck upside down etc. During inversion you would relax into it and do some deep breathing and subtle lateral movements to get the spine to straighten out.
I wish you the best recovery!

This was such an emotional episode for me. All of the men on my father’s side were working class, and all served in the military in one way or another. My father served two terms in Vietnam. His family was poor. He had no resources for college. He was drafted. It makes me feel so saddened that young, working class men have been so demonized they no longer want to serve. Though the reasons for a country entering war might vary from the justified to the nonsensical, the one uniting factor of these men is their willingness to die for their country. Although I miss him everyday, I’m relieved he did not live to see this. It brings tears to my eyes.

I feel betrayed in my youth to go fight a war ideologically, that fundamentally wasn’t true, and hind sight…..used our emotions of the time against us. That mistrust isn’t solved easily and I don’t want to send my son to false wars for the military industrial complex. I think many other warriors feel the same way and choose to raise our sons as home warriors. Ready to defend this house and family.

Exactly. What surprises me is how few people object to the narcissism. But then, they aren't really journalists, and are more of activists; take that grotesque "intro" at the NABJA to Trump. 🤮 As if that weren't enough ... imagine if journalists could see themselves as we see them; for the stenographers they really are. How do those people accept _approved messaging_ cards, or the _authorized questions to ask the regime_ without quitting. SURELY they realize what they're doing doesn't even RESEMBLE journalism. In which you could make a montage of 50-100 of them pumping out regime media every day. How can they possibly have any self respect..? And how do they not realize that if they're asked to repeat it [by] the regime, that it must mean the opposite is true..?
What was interesting was to hear VDH repeat that many of the faculty at universities realize their institutions have completely corrupted their telos. Which means they know they're self immolating now.
At first, democrats were just assuming that if POCs went to college that they'd suddenly be smart (whether they were or weren't) by merely attending. But instead of making people who traditionally wouldn't have gone to college smart ... they made colleges that graduated them dumber, and resulted in either mismatch and dropping out for the rest (see: Heather Mac Donald's work).
How glorious it'd be if there actually [were] tests given to grads irrespective which university you went to, in order to have some parity within the meaning of their diplomas and fake GPAs.
Personally, this is another VDH interview I will listen to more than once. Just outstanding.

Michoacan Mexican Americans are workers. They know soil, rootstocks, and how to gently remove the fruit without ever compromising next year's harvest. For 20 years I have lived in a great diverse community in the Fruit belt, and have heard all the slurs against us. Thanks, Mr. Hanson and Mr. Rowe, for defending the productive fields that sustain our great, multi-ethnic nation.

They got a drug very similar to LSD, but even more like PCP, to produce a list of 17 effects they were looking for which Prozac (and now all of its dozen clones) produce perfectly. Among those effects which are all too obvious in today’s society are the extreme violence so classic of PCP's fame with the impulsive murder & suicide (even in our school shootings), parents killing their own children & children killing their parents, the suppression of natural affection designed to end strong family units by producing narcissistic personalities & "a change in gender" with transgenders with all types of sexual diversity no one has ever heard of before - a serotonin nightmare - all of which I have been warning of, writing about, documenting cases, testifying as an expert in those cases, & doing media interviews on for 3 decades now with Pharma doing everything they could think of to prevent anyone from hearing my warnings!🥲😢 It has been so sad to witness & horrifying for someone like me who has never been able to watch a horror movie in my life, yet now while documenting these cases I am forced to witness & detail the most horrific cases imaginable!
Even Court TV calling me a couple of decades ago because they were wanting to know more on an upcoming case they were covering & I was working on, but after hearing about only one or two cases asked me to please not share any more as they could not handle hearing any more. That was until they had to report the case live of this 12 year old boy they had initially called me about who blew his grandparents away in bed before burning down the home with them in it. Because in the middle of covering that case they had to report the news of a case of a 16 year old boy in NM who shot & killed his whole family on the same med & a 16 year old girl in ID who shot & killed her parents in bed on the same med in the same way as the 12 year old. All three cases involving the same med. In shock they gasped & asked live on the air, "Wow! What is it with teenagers & Zoloft?!"
So I answer your question with, YES! WE ARE QUITE LITERALLY LAB RATS IN AN OPEN PUBLIC STUDY WITNESSING THE HORRIFYING OUTCOME NOT ONLY DAILY ON OUR LOCAL NEWS REPORTS, BUT EVEN IN OUR OWN LIVES OR NEIGHBORHOODS!!!!
And Mr. Hanson I have a personal task for you in the case you shared in detail of your friend so clearly determined to die. For his sake & the sake of his family would you please do everything you can to find out which of these drugs they gave him to cause him to take his life? You gave us all the reasons he had for which they would have prescribed these deadly drugs for him but what you described is called "suicidal ideation", a listed side effect I helped to get listed on these drugs. To describe what that term means all you need to do is to replace the word "ideation" with the word "compulsion". They produce a determination to die & cause you to ruminate non-stop on any & every means to accomplish exactly that! I, therefore, have little doubt by what you described that his death was caused by suicidal ideation produced by these drugs no differe t than the 21 year old Washington state girl whose case came in last year as she used a chain saw to decapitste herself. Loved ones deserve answers & I pray for the day these companies are prosecuted for pre-meditated murder with these drugs! And I use the term premeditated because they knew full well the effects before bribing the approval of these drugs & putting the right people in place to get them into the hands of an unsuspecting public - people who publicly stated that if people knew what they had done they would chase them down the street to lynch them! I say it is way past time to fulfill their own prophesy when you see the carnage from just the first decade in this database even though it should include the case of the cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer as well as he too was drugged as a fetus while his body & brain were forming: SSRIstories.net

I grew up working on this Century old farm that’s been in production 120 years. I also had the chance to buy my Grandmother Berthas house built by my grandparents in 1930. After a three year hitch as a Marine Infantryman, i then got into doing , Carpenter/ laborer work first for a few year's. Then tried the electrical field. Like any trade the first few year's is hard mentally and physically, but once you start learning... you start to get confident and it makes it all worth it. No one can ever take the experience away from you! You will always have work, especially these day's. The knowledge, hard work, and pride you gain, can only be experienced...if you live it! Not an easy road... but you're very proud to have done it.

I grew up in Toledo, attended a vocational high school, learned welding and auto-body repair. Worked a couple of years then started attending the local community college for industrial engineering got a 2 yr degree and then worked 30 yrs in the automotive industry as an engineer.
My vocational education was my foundation because i understood manufacturing and I was the hands on guy as i worked my way through college.
Our Creator makes us all different and MANY of us were giving the gift to work with our hands and the intellect to build, fix and grow stuff!
Many noble people in the Bible worked with their hands, Noah was obviously a woodworker, Abraham was a successful shepherd, the apostle Paul was a tent maker and the son of God Jesus Was made a Carpenter.

Also, shepherds were warriors that had to be ready to fight off large predatory animals. The Judean desert had lions and all sorts of large animals. Being a shepherd at that time was dangerous and brutal.
David had a sling. Moses had a staff. They would knock you out if you messed with their flock.
People get the stories of the Bible mixed up and they blend in stories they’ve read in Sunday school that has info that is not in the Bible. Don’t mix your children’s Bible stories with what is in the scripture.

Mike Rowe has long been cognizant that labor is "superior to capital" in Lincoln's words, whereas Victor Hanson seems to be coming around to that position now. I always thought he was a believer in Milton Friedman and "supply side". This interview surprised me. He's right about foreign unfair trade practices (although Walmart and other retailers make more profit from outsourcing). The PRC does not allow access to their market unless foreign brands manufacture their products in The PRC. That's not "fair trade". That's suicidal trade for any country that agrees to The PRC's conditions.
