Chorus:
On a Sunday morning sidewalk
I'm wishing Lord that I was stoned
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone
And there's nothin' short of dyin'
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleepin' city sidewalk
And Sunday mornin' comin' down

Who’s here listening to this in 2024?
Me!
I’ve been listening to all of these guys even before they started the highway men. They are awesome!!!
I do!
I guess I'm still and will
I have lived my 75 years with these legends as my inspirations, thank the lord for allowing me to share my time with these legends!!!
Here’s to all of us who are still listening to this 2030
This is not about drinking, it is about loneliness, it's about missing the simple joys of life, it's about honest reflection, it's about vulnerability that Kris captures so well in many of his songs
But the drink causes all these issues.... snowball effect 🍀✌️with out alcohol maybe we wouldn't have all the great songs🤔catch 22
You are right. Are you lonely as much as I'm
I'm 60yo and never had a sip of alcohol in my life but still can feel their pain...
when music was great
I'm 98 years old and I wish I was around in the 70s and my dad died and he was still alive when I died but I got better and I have tears and this song was played at my mums funeral and this song brings tears and my dog died and I'm only 13 and love country and eastern music and my dad died and funeral and tears and dog
Boy can I relate to this song !! I drank the bigger of my life,oh how I ruined my life !! But though the Grace of God I have been sober 14 years !! My health is now failing me but I fight on !!
Keep it up. I ruined my teens and young twenties with addiction. We got this.
Wishing you well. Keep plugging.
43 yrs sober this August but the first few years (15-35) are a complete loss!! Suffering now!
@@coppershannon5433 my prayers are with you !! I’m sorry for your suffering,I myself know exactly how that feels !!
What a brave lot of fella's you all are, hope you's are all enjoying life now.
Having a few beers and remembering my life when it was so good!! I'll be 80 on 9-11. I gave the Marines almost 5 years of my life. Toured Vietnam and lived a good life. I still love music and listening to it now. 2024. 60,70&80s.
thank you for ur service. i asm 78 all nam vets are my heroes
This song was probably the best song 🎵 Chris ever wrote. Johnny came together and recordrd one of the most heart felt ♥️ song 🎵 rver done. It all came together with Johnny waylon chris and Willie. 1 of the best country songs 🎵 ever recorded. Lord how we miss this band.❤
There are probably 5 or 6 songs Kris wrote you could say that about
@@harryb7402 Plus some of the best from Willie, Gosh, what a combination of talent.
Awesome REAL LIFE Song- I like THE PILGRIM-CHAPER 33 too and think it's his best but all his songs were great.
Wow they were fantastic les Townsend love it all there will never be miemre like this
And into 2024 we go and this song is still 😊
I’ve lost count of the times I’ve played the music of this magnificent group of country geniuses.
Ok this is the deepest song I've ever heard 💀
Cash's voice will never be replaced.
Hello Marty, how are you
It took Kris Kristofferson to write one of the best songs and The Highwaymen to make it golden forever.
My Son was found in a grassy noel 50 yards from his apartment Christmas morning. When i awoke that was the 1st thing i wad told via voice mail. He was my only child, i received his toxicology yesterday came back yesterday. Fitanyl was his killer , i loved him so. The only advice i can give if your young & your parents bought you a nice car & your getting ready to go to college is take your parents to the funeral home & pick your Casket & your out fit of design. You will safe your parents so much grief. Oh that won't happen to me Lol! SATIN is working overtime to retrieve your soul.
Still listening 2024🏴
I am listening to this beautiful song and the feeling about Sundays is so true to this day in 2024.
I was born in 1970 and still listening in 2024
Still listening in 2024 real country music right here
THey will never make em like this any more- Taylor Swift may be the riches singer of all time but not the Best.
If you’ve ever been drunk you know exactly what this songs about!
June 14, 2021. Northern Germany. I'm celebrating this wonderful music right now. I do not know where to start. Thank you all guys! Greetings to all country fans around the world, Peter.
It dont matter how good an Artist sings….in the Moment Johnny starts to sings…all is silence…thx God for sending us this man. Hope he is fine-thx Johnny for everthing.
Fantastic show!!! Listening April 2024 from New Zealand.
Watching in February 2024.
I'm 79 years old and God I miss that time in my life was so beautiful and simple we had nathing but we all had happiness thank you for the memories
I'm 73 yrs. old and i agree with what you say.
Yes, me too, 72 and still loving it!
I’m 30 and agree with you, back when we would play around in the dirt. No phones, no social media, just enjoying our simple lives
I'm 81 still love it les
4.6M views in a year is not enough. Don't you agree?
Early Johnny is high energy, Old Johnny is just soul and remorse. I prefer his recordings from the 90s
I call this performance the biggest triumph of music as a product of humanity
There is nothing better than this.
Freaking legendary, absolute perfection
Doesn't matter when you get this experience love it 9/10 /110 we are all god's children
I was one of those people I turned it round praise the lord u can do it I am from Ireland
Here I am. In Kenya. Out of this world...can't beat this.
Kris may be THE most underrated song writer of the last 60 years. Such a genius!
hello ,how are you doing?
You got that right MARGARET
Just started getting into his songs now!
The old man's favorite song lived the lifestyle.
Life here in this simulated world is the litmus test to see who is deserving of eternal life in a world of dreams, there are many road blocks.Hell most people will never figure it out! We will all be judged at the end and very few will make it. Be happy that you made it this far in a world designed to take you apart. Peace and blessings.
One of the best songs ever written
I'm from Ireland, huge drinking and drug culture.. its sunday morning and I'm coming down.. what a song.. sometimes I feel like this song was written for me..
It was
Can you explain the lyrics pls for me?
@@siwant1 That would be hard. You have to understand the lifestyle and feelings you have for the song and also understand English. First thing is more important because I don't understand French but I feel the lyrics...
It’s simple one minute you are the cockerel on the wall next minute you are a feather duster
If they would play this all the time I would listen to it all the time
Still not drunk enough not to appreciate this tune...
Das wohl beste Konzert aller Zeiten - schade, ich war nicht dabei...
I need a time machine
They don't make music like these guys did.
Being born in 1949 I thank God that I lived in the time of muscle cars, country music, and pickup trucks. I have been blessed to have lived a life that some just dream about.
I wish I could thumbs this up twice.
Still listening in 2024
You cannot escape destiny. From the vaunted halls of universities to the esteem of a military career , the disdain of his parents to being an ash tray cleaner, Kris had a mission. So glad he followed his heart
I bet every one of them has drank a beer for breakfast, and thought of this classic song. It tells many a person's story. When they were struggling, and down. But it never mentions a church?
I will listen to this song for as long as I live😢
These guys had no fancy ear pieces or computers ....they were REAL SINGERS!!
Raw talent.
Proper songs with a true story behind them
You can actually understand what they are signing. Beautiful
There is NO TALENT like these guy any more!!!
There are stage monitor speakers so they can hear themselves.
Well am still listening in 2023.
Will never stop listening! 😎👍🏽
Me too
me toooo....👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I am also listening this nice song in 2023 😍
Me too. 🤣👍
Memories Man that was the time. Woodstock and the Beatles.THE TIME.
When you can gather: Cash, Waylon, Kristopher and Willie this is what you get. Master peice of talent.
Live at the Nassau Colosseum WOW.
My most favorite 👌🏼✌🏼🙏🏼☝🏽👍🏼🤸♂️🎉🤸♂️🎉🙂😎🌄🌞💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thank s to TH-cam these great singers/entertainers are accessible to all ,long may it last.
I wish I could have seen thse guys in concert. They make most of today's so called country singer look like real ameteurs.
i listen to a lot of music and all kinds of music.
but when I'm listening to this, I'm listening to musicians.
Please pray for me, as I have felt led for some time, to seek out people that are living this now on Sunday mornings and convince them that they are not alone. How this will happen, I don't know, but I believe it will. There are many of us that have no desire to spend those mornings in man's church, but really need the fellowship in love with others.
There are many who can relate to this song . Kris wrote from the heart and experience. I am 80 now but can recall the time I first listened to Silver Tongued Devil. What a privilege to have been around for these guys in their prime. RIP Johnny and Waylon and God Bless Willie and Kris🙏👏🧤
I'll be 73-The Lord willing come December. I relate to this song and i love Kris's original version, the version here, and Johnny doing it as a single is my favourite version but it took such Masterful thinking for KK to pen this gem.
@@QWZXM At 82 I still sing and play the guitar to this great song.
Nice to be able to play the guitar and sing this special song for alot of people. God bless Kriss great song writer I think we can all relate to this gem
I RIP R. Jung
Großartiges Lied für die großartige Stimme von Johnny Cash. RIP Johnny.
The look in Kristofferson's face while Cash is singing is the same face in we all fans
EVERYBODY … ITS MY LIFE !!!!
Remember watching this with my grandpa
Amazing they actually made music without AUTO TUNE, or flash costumes and no gimmick, Just raw talent and dedication to an ART. I hope its not lost on our next generation.
Hi there,how are you doing?
@@Davidmoore-ib8xg still making tracks and living that studio life.
@@neilblack1534 Okay,where are you from?
Brilliant, this song reminds me of me when i was younger ,(i'm now 69) dont think it could be sung better
My Sunday morning, a cup of coffee with a little brandy in it, and listening to this song, and yes a little smoke.
Every time I listen to that song I think I actually levitate
you will never see the likes again .the best of the best
you got it man. 30 years I been hearing these sounds in my head
It wasn't dying I was afraid of...it was living I wasn't real good at. Sunday morning comin down.

Love your comment on
Sunday morning Coming down, Coliseum 1990.
It is so true.
Cash and Kristofferson just unreal.
Love the way kristifferson nods to johnny to continue to the second verse.
The words are so poignant and sad.
I cant stop playing it
Sending you light
Will be 80 on 1/30 25. I listen to this type music at least 3-5 times a week just sitting here in SW VA. Navy 62-65
"It will take your last heartbeat". Words my alcohol addiction counselor told me, that I will never forget.
Country will never reach levels like this ever again!
We can only hope
I have to agree
Very true. Country can never get better. This is just better than any rock, Pop or any other music. The emotion is just brilliant.
So much agree. Surreal in every way.
Nothing no one, in today's studios comes close to this. Where is the true artists in today's music.
Not being a big country music fan, I always think of Kris Kristoffersen as an actor . I have to remind myself that he was also a country music legend.
50 years from now...I'd be old.. sitting in an old chair looking at the setting sun..and I'd be listening to Cash...
My wife: Cash?...after all this time
Me: Always ❤️
Utterly beautiful and utterly sad ….great four on stage… tears flowing…😢❤
As a Canadian to me thats America.
Lived in Nashville from 1982-1984 and relate to this song in more ways than one. Nit sure if it was Nashville or my life choices at the time.
When Kris gives the nod to Johnny Priceless 👍👍
I agree that's what makes the whole concert
If you weren’t around in the 70’s, for most of us this was reality. What a time to be alive. Kris Kristofferson is an absolute genius song writer. The highwaymen were everything country music needed. Rest In Peace Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
Amen to that. Fabulous, all of them. Country music lost 2 of the best in 2002 & 2003. Kris & Willie are still here, but only Willie is still entertaining. They are all some of the greatest writer's music has ever had.
totally agree!
I feel deeply about what u r sayn !!!!I'm 74 and have had a BLAST!
@@willielam2189 love this! Don't know if I will see 74 but hope I have your attitude if I do. Best wishes from🇮🇪
@@g.g386 THANK YOU! BEST WISHES RIGHT BACK!
It often strikes me watching the Highwaymen how often Kris looks like he is really trying hard to match the others seemingly effortless vocal ability and is concious of it, yet all the others always seem in awe and thankful of Kris being on stage with them such is the high regard everyone has for him as a person his songwriting genius.
Legends and they didn't get the recognition they deserved
Hello Laura. How're you doing? Hope you're good.
Hi 👋 Laura, how are you doing
Some of us know this scenario all to damn well.... - we miss the time, the sound, the picture - and we can never have it again. Fo
r the rest of you you - this is wisdom....
Help people who are struggling and they will know they are not alone.
Don't lecture ...just help and show you care
I could listen to these guys every day. This is real music
From the U.K....................what a changing world ,.. Its now 2023 and as I listen to this pure magic I have come to realise this stuff will never be surpassed . They just don't make music like this any more . Even the youngsters like this . That says it all .
Kristofferson is one of the most criminally underrated songwriters of all time.
Willie and Kris wrote too many great songs to even chronicle.
I like it when other great song writers compliment their peer song writers. Don Reid (Statler Brothers) no slouch of a song writer was asked what was his favorite song. He replied “anything that Kris wrote” that’s high praise.
What a beautiful song
I can’t stop listening to it
Lol😊 still tipping the hat to this real music where the stories are & not a song that 3 words can burn up 3.5 minutes of my life. Bah bah 😅 great tunes as well hee-haw
'found my cleanest dirty shirt' I love that genius by KK
"And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday"
Holy hell.
One hell of a good line. Especially now...
No holy heaven, hell is a place you don’t want to be.
@@Mysterious13138 It's just an expression.
True poetry
Pure gold...singers today with all this updated equipment doesn't sound no where near this good..
Sunny Sunday morning in spring ... Played nine holes of golf with my son, came home and drove my daughter to the tennis court. While waiting for her friend, we sat in the car and listened to the KK and JC versions of this song. Special time with no hangover.
As I'm drinking some beer waiting on dinner and listening to the Highwaymen and wonder how in the hell did we ever get so sideway with our world. Unbelievable. Honestly folks. Pray
Not sure that is going to help now.
I hate it that all these men are getting older. I want KK and Willie to sing for many years to come. God bless them.
me, too!
Johnny cash is dead, bud
he's just getting better,, johnny rip.
As a retired drunk this song brings tears to my eyes
Me too... I've had many Sunday Mornings Coming Down... sadly.
me too, OMG.
👍🙏
That song is what motivated me to change while I still could. 34 years last month.
I hear ya though
All the Highwaymen songs are on our play list!!!!
Something about this song being sung slowed down from the original version makes this 10x better.
January 2024 this song was my life in the 90’s. Sober since 1999. 💕🙏🏻🇨🇦
My late brother-in-laws favorite song
I never thought I would hear this song again
I love these guys. And I'll never forget the time Kris stood up with Sinead Oconner that time when she was getting boo'ed on stage. That's a real man.
Besides this being best version, it is fantastic harmony and JC and KK are just at their best and the emotions between the two make this song the best. Four icons in one brilliant place singing an iconic song. This just beyond imagination.
