2023 and here I am. Listening with my beautiful wife. Not even 42 yet and I'm getting nastalgic... Reminds me of the days my old man would bang out the tunes all Sunday long. Everything from JC to Fleetwood Mac and Dire Straights.... Then onto Buddy Holly and Tina Turner.... What a lucky lad I am, was and will forever be. Music really tells a person's character.... Let's not mention the Monty Python nights and Red Dwarf after Top Gear.... I knew of better Times. For which I am forever grateful 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

My Dad and I were connected through music. As a kid I remember driving through the Colorado mountains with the top off his '69 Bronco listening to Willie, and singing Blue Skies and on The Road Again at the top of our lungs.
Later in life we drove trucks together. We would hear a new song or artist and call each other and share the song. I was a pearl jam fam since my grunge days.
When he first heard this version, he sent me the video. This became our song.
Later when he got cancer, he and Watched the video again in hospice. It was my good bye. I played it in his funeral.
It pops up on my speakers at some of the most ironic times, passing through our home town, passing his family farm in Nebraska, heading to his memorial, when I miss him. I feel like he is still around, and he sends it to me when he is near.

I like the version of it that they performed with the other two “highwaymen” Waylon and Willie. It was a bit slower and more down beat? If that makes sense. That version of this song really gets to me. It’s got more regret and a touch of sadness to it. Brings to mind that feeling we all get when we think about all the coulda shoulda wouldas in our lives. Plus, I love me some Johnny Cash but Kris sings this song so much better. Especially later in life when his voice got aged a bit

At Christmas lunch 20 year back, this classic started. My father looked me in the eyes and said "This is you son." It was, in its special way, one of the most beautiful moments of my life. Dad is 80 now, November 11th at 11am, my time of birth, I complete the 53rd year of life. It probably comes across as a little odd without the back story. But my folks raised a good, kind, compassionate and loving citizen of our precious planet. This song is a major signpost of my life and will always bring a something special til the second I draw my final breath.

Bless WSMV clear channel that reached all that way up north. Then a twist of fate brought me to Nashville... Now I'm 76 , living in a Townhouse on a hill, 10 feet from a protected forest , where the Deer and the wild turkeys visit every day to be fed. And I feel their spirit coming up from deep beneath my feet.... Bless all the American treasures... especially those who sang here , in the hills of middle Tennessee !

When my mother passed away in 2016 I went out and bought a Maton guitar in honour of her love of music. I can still remember as a young teenager listening to Kris singing Me and Bobby McGee and still love this song till this day when I’m nearing 70. Keep up the great videos they are truly appreciated.
