No ego no none sense. the love john has for Wiley. He is letting Wiley do his thing. He’s shaping the song to fit Wiley’s style on the spot. Much respect. Obviously Wiley Nelson loves to sing this song. And Johnny cash just let’s him have it.

And i bet the tickets were very reasonably priced even for that time .

At my door the leaves are falling
A cold wild wind will come
    Sweethearts walk by together
    And I still miss someone
I go out on a party
And look for a little fun
But I find a darkened corner
    'Cause I still miss someone
Oh, no I never got over those blue eyes

I was a stagehand back in the late 1980's early 1990's.
We did a 2-day job with Johnny and The Carter Family.
Miss Rosanne showed up between sets, we had security-detail, and Man.. She was the coolest star we ever encountered.
We all Love them, to this day.

Johnny liked to do that song as a duet. Here, he lets Willie own the song, with his singing and picking! I saw Cash in a club in Manhattan in the early '90s, with Mark Collie opening. Collie came back out during Cash's set and they performed "I Still Miss Someone" together.

what was it like to see him playing live?

    • @highnrising
      @highnrising 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@suds314 It was fun. He did his whole show. It was a lull in his career before the Rick Rubin comeback. Back present country radio hitmakers didn't used to come to NYC, but classic act like Cash, Haggard, Willie, Waylon, Billy Joe, and newer non mainstream acts like Robert Earl Keane would come. I'd get tickets if I happened to see in the newspaper that they would be playing in town.

They'll probably take that word out of it
At my door the leaves are falling
A cold wild wind will come
    Sweethearts walk by together
    And I still miss someone
I go out on a party
And look for a little fun
But I find a darkened corner
    'Cause I still miss someone
Oh, no I never got over those blue eyes
    I see them every where
I miss those arms that held me
When all the love was there
    I wonder if she's sorry
    For leavin' what we'd begun
    There's someone for me somewhere
    And I still miss someone
