A sad day for those who listened to Kris Kristofferson for decades. Going back to the college days of laying on the floor in the hot apartment and listening to Kris who dragged us into a poetic trance. He's so brilliant and yet so humble. May his family find peace in the days and years to come, and thank you for sharing your special husband and father with the world. We are a better place for his never ending genius in the world of the Arts. (He clearly respected those that helped pave the way for his never ending talents).
I’ll be 86 on 06-08-24, and I Love them more than ever. I listen to this version and another, much earlier. The both bring tears of sweet memories to mind.

The life of Kris is an example to everyone to follow your follow your dreams, to turn your back on a successful army career, give it all up to work as a janitor to try and meet Johnny Cash and hopefully get him to sing his songs. His music has been part of my life since 1970 and I feel blessed to have heard it.
My dad played Kris's(and the Highwaymen's) music since I was born, and now, after dad's departure to higher pastures, I will play the music till the bitter end, and hope to introduce the newer generations to it for a long time.
My dad was also a fan of the four greats of which Kris was a part. He used to tell me about Willie playing in a suite and tie in the beginning to try and "confirm". Now he's the only one left and I have lost my father as well. @ yes he did I love that video because they were all trying to work out his style and timing and then it all clicked in and slowly I saw awe in there faces as they each admired what he was doing as he took the solo, my goodness I loved it
In the pbs documentary about country music, multiple people remark that the opening 4 lines of the song were so perfect they could only be written by God himself. How else do you explain such perfection? God bless Kris.
How can there be 446 people capable of finding this yet not capable of recognizing the greatness. The writing, singing, joy of playing together, such a special group performing a great song.
Stephen, they don't know what they don't know. The rest of us sit in awe of the music, the talent, and the absolute awesomeness of what will never be again. And try not to be too sad.
I just came across this by accident, so beautiful four legends I have always loved Willi Nelson, the four of together outstanding music, I'm really happy I came across them, XXXX
I love how, even as big stars, they are each willing to share the limelight. That demonstrates true and deep friendship and devotion to their music. How did they get so old so fast?
There will only be one Willie. What a national treasure. COPD has him in its throes, and yet he’s still out there at 91. I’m so glad I’ve gotten to see him live when he was in much better health.
My oldest Son, a Teacher , took off for a short while doing the music scene . In his doing this I got to meet several Stars . I had the privilege of meeting Kris back stage! He is just as humble as he acts! He acted as if he was so glad to meet me!This was in Dallas! Later a show from Baylor University I had a great visit with Dolly!Such a nice Lady! Had pictures made with her! My husband had his picture made with her. A great picture plus the next year she was back in Dallas , my Son had her autograph the picture with his Dad! We idolize and love these people which is so nice ! They have talents maybe that we do not have but other than that they have a Mom and Dad a life not that much different than ours! My Son later went back to teaching! Now retired. I will never forget meeting some of these people , knowing they forgot me in10 minutes! It was fun while it lasted!
These guys are all legends in their own right, all capable of packing a venue solo, yet their love for music and mutual respect and love for one another was more important that solo accolades. Thank you, guys.
OK. I like the Eagles and lots of other groups, for that matter. But these guys never fought with each other. They all respect each other's talent. When Waylon claps for Willie, it is a class act. I come back to this over and over; wish I had seen them altogether live; I've been fortunate enough to see Waylon twice and Willie four times, and I am grateful for that. Kris is such a great song writer, and I've always loved Johnny. Together, they are incredible. Thank you for posting this.
I kind of like to think it's because the highwaymen, for the most part, started out as friends and respected each other vs the eagles where Frey and Henley were friends but the whole idea of the eagles was commercial, which is why they went through a few members
That awestruck look of "Damn, Wille! Sing it, brother!" from Kris is just priceless. This is country music that just can't be matched by music nowadays.
Kristofferson is an Absolute Master. His timeless, simple, perfect melodies and heartfelt, relatable lyrics command a large space in the library of contemporary and specifically "American" music. 🙏❤️ Enough can never be said.

Trigger is the guitar's name. It is a Martin N 20 and Willie has been playing it since 1969. It goes with him everywhere.
And to think Kris doubted his singing ability and his equal stature within the group. He belongs on the Country Mount Rushmore as much as his heroes.

Waylon had eyes only for willies picking
The love and respect that Waylon has for Willie is so apparent in this video.
Willie and Kris still with us. Thank God
Sure thing, legends all. I had one chance to see this stellar ensemble The Highwaymen, I blew it.....
Greetings from Ireland .
Kris has announced his retirement from touring, got to see him the last few times- the great songwriter of our time!
They all live in our hearts and memories!!!
Just thank Willie and Kris. That's enough.

I was born in 62 great tunes and still listening!!! all the greats are about gone!!!! 2024
My goodness!! All that talent on one stage!!
I have never seen nor heard Willie be any better than this. ...He must have been feeling at his best on this night to perform this way.
Effortless, isn't it?
@gobigorange that is quite a lengthy time. I'm just thankful that this was recorded.
Really? As great as he sounded hes struggling a lot on this set.....
Amen I agree with you
Willie at his best

Magic, magic, magic! Fraternity, artistry, creativity and communitas. Just amazing
In the pbs documentary about country music, multiple people remark that the opening 4 lines of the song were so perfect they could only be written by God himself. How else do you explain such perfection? God bless Kris.
I agree with all of the above.!!!
I love how Waylon watches Willie play the guitar and claps! I could watch this video over and over again…and I do!
Hello 👋 Connie.
How can there be 446 people capable of finding this yet not capable of recognizing the greatness. The writing, singing, joy of playing together, such a special group performing a great song.
Jealousy
446 people with poor taste! Beautiful song! RIP Mom❤💯🙏
Who cares about them!
Don't worry about them. Just leave them behind.
Stephen, they don't know what they don't know. The rest of us sit in awe of the music, the talent, and the absolute awesomeness of what will never be again. And try not to be too sad.
Such love and mutual respect on that stage. Wish I’d been there for this moment.
October 3 2024, Kris passed just a couple days ago. Listening to this with a lump in my throat, only one of these Giants left.
Willie and Kris are all that's left. These are the greatest performers in my lifetime!
Now just Willie. RIP Kris.
Listening today 9/28/2024 after learning that today Kris Kristofferson passed.
We now have Willie
God Bless them All
These men, legends that they are, have given us so very much. I am humble and thankful.
Me to.
@@stefanmalm3617 me to they can not be replace .this is the last of the great breed.
You damn right...what talent...what legend's!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the best show by them
I just came across this by accident, so beautiful four legends I have always loved Willi Nelson, the four of together outstanding music, I'm really happy I came across them, XXXX
Four top musicians and a support band. That's all it takes for absolute top music. No laser no flash no idiocy. Just music as music should be.
I seem to watch this concert more and more as I get older and I love it every time
These 4 were the best, and the greatest when together. 4Ever The Highwaymen.
I was born in the 60's great tunes and still listening. Back when things made sense. Still here August 2024
The unmistakable voice of Willie together with Kris is legendary!
Hi ,how are you doing, how is the weather treating you today, can we be friends if you don't mind?
When I first heard Willie playing that guitar solo I cried 😢
He’s pretty amazing.
Can'y get enough of this song, the guitar solo from Willie is just incredible, simple but right on.
I love how, even as big stars, they are each willing to share the limelight. That demonstrates true and deep friendship and devotion to their music. How did they get so old so fast?
Hello 👋 Sandra.
@@jimrobert7239ciao Jim!🙋😊😍😘🌅
One of the best songs that was ever written.
The power of recording means this will be heard possibly forever
There will only be one Willie. What a national treasure. COPD has him in its throes, and yet he’s still out there at 91. I’m so glad I’ve gotten to see him live when he was in much better health.
Got to see him few times w ray price, Skynyrd,Bob Dylan up at the Woodstock site
Maybe they remember.
These guys are all legends in their own right, all capable of packing a venue solo, yet their love for music and mutual respect and love for one another was more important that solo accolades. Thank you, guys.
I surely miss John and Waylon..
Sorely missed ! Great days, thank god fr u tube !
Kann auf deutsch übertragen werden??
Hello how are you doing my friend
@@christiandonaldson31 z,
You Just Have to Keep Coming Back, Because this is Pure Class. Alan
I kind of like to think it's because the highwaymen, for the most part, started out as friends and respected each other vs the eagles where Frey and Henley were friends but the whole idea of the eagles was commercial, which is why they went through a few members
Oh Chris was whistling with Waylon was singing are you sure Hank done it this Way a lot of respect between these gentlemen
That awestruck look of "Damn, Wille! Sing it, brother!" from Kris is just priceless. This is country music that just can't be matched by music nowadays.
what a great loss nothing i can really say brilliant song writer and singer
RIP Kris! May your memory be eternal.
Kristofferson is an Absolute Master. His timeless, simple, perfect melodies and heartfelt, relatable lyrics command a large space in the library of contemporary and specifically "American" music. 🙏❤️ Enough can never be said.
Perfection
Amen
You are so right.
Him and Dylan were masters of their art.
@@QWZXM Yes. We never forget Mr. Dylan. ❤️
Willie's guitar solo is something I could be listening to in my last minute of being alive.
