Le nom du groupe Cigarettes After Sex évoque tout à la fois la sensualité, l'intime, la mélancolie... Une imagerie qui correspond à merveille à la musique de ces quatre américains. Mené par Greg Gonzales, Cigarettes After Sex s'illustre en effet par une dream pop où l'épure de l'orchestration est proportionnelle à l'émotion provoquée par ces ballades enivrantes. Une ambiance claire-obscure qui n'est pas sans rappeler leurs compatriotes de Beach House.
C’est à la fin du mois d’octobre 2019 que Cigarettes After Sex a publié son deuxième album. Ce nouvel opus baptisé Cry nous transporte dans un univers nocturne et sensuel, éminemment cinématographique. C’est cet esprit que ce concert privé tente de retranscrire au travers de son atmosphère intimiste et de ses images en noir et blanc.

My ex girlfriend and I used to put on repeat songs of this wonderful band while we were smoking and hugging... I remember we made love for first time while Apocalypse was being played.
It's been five years now since she past away and I still can't believe how happy and at the same time how sad makes me feel Cigarettes After Sex.
Still I'm here, and it has become a ritual for me to hear them every night... I wish she could be here with me, I'd hug her and kiss her till we fall asleep together.

Unbelievable band. Lead singers voice is so melancholy and mesmerizing. Can't get enough of their music.
This band is literally my all time favorite, their songs are incredibly soft and calm, very comforting but also have a sense of melancholy

It's not that hard in this case, actually. Their recordings are done more or less with the exact same gear they use live, so they just do what they do in the studio but all at once.
I don't mean this to be condescending either, it's just that their style of music and choice of equipment is pretty damn close to what people were using in the 80's and 90's when there wasn't as much digital processing. They have an old school boomer rock n' roll setup and it makes it very easy to achieve an organic live sound.

Yes, I’ve seen them live twice and both times are really amazing experiences. There’s something about their music that just puts everyone in a sort of trance. Everywhere you look around in the crowd, you’ll see people just vibing and swaying to the music - couples with their arms around each other, friends singing along. Just lovely. Hope to see them live again soon.
I met them recently and now they are my favorite band. Their songs are so deep, I love them and their voice is so beautiful and relaxing. ❤

Hi,I'm back again,I've watched most of the Cirarettes after sex concert in Paris and found their music to be very calming,I'm a 70 year old Metallica fan so you can understand where I'm coming from.
I'll probably continue listening to this sort of music into the future for pheraputical reasons though.(sorry for rambling on people).

I normally can't stand my favourite artists live, and have to listen to the studio albums, as an autistic human the background noise and tech levels just seem too off, but CAS is just pure perfection, and the audience seems so respectful to whats happening I adore them, but CAS is just a whole entire mood I vibe with entirely.
Simply amazing sound! I was watching videos on very very high end stereo's and one had played 'Apocalypse' and I was blown away. Clean crisp sound with incredible vocals. They sound like they are on a stage in your living room. Did I say amazing yet? Unlike anything I've ever heard!

Stumbled across Cigarettes After Sex and fell in Love with the Ethereal layers and unearthly voice of Greg Gonzalez. I listened to bands like Low, Slowdive, Galaxy 500, and Cocteau Twins in the late 80s and early 90s. It is wonderful to hear these stripped down bands produce such exquisite mystery.

First time I heard CAS on the radio I pictured the singer as a 60 something year old Chanteuse with heavy makeup and a penchant for cigarettes. Just beautiful music ❤️

I haven't been "obsessed" with the music of a single artist or group in... well... probably about 40 years. CAS plays in the house, on repeat, day after day, often for many hours, sometimes until "Every Light Is Out" in the house at the end of the day. They weren't even born when I fell in love the first time, but they're the music that brings me back to the fist time my heart literally hovered over me, drifting into a place I'd never known before... & never since. From "The Night Train" (Romans 13:9) through ALL of the more recent... "I Can't Stop These Tears From Falling"... And to be honest? I don't want to. Look-up the definition... I am in "awe", and SO grateful that they've given this world their gift, and that I've been so fortunate to have found them.
