Since his days after leaving Dyer Straits, I have come to really appreciate this man's true appreciation for the guitar. Knopfler's style is truly unique, with his trademark string bending style. Do you even realize you're performing in front of a live audience Knopler? Looks like you're completely lost in your music, totally absorbed, oblivious to anything happening before you. As a guitarist, that's a true pleasure to watch (and listen to!).
She is as highly sought after for her backup vocals, as she is as a lead vocalist. She was a young crush for me when I was 21. At 70, I think her voice is still mesmerizing. She really messed up when she didn't marry me.🤔
I fell in love with her voice hearing her harmonize with Gram Parsons, so sweet and real. I saw her in the late 70s in mankato mn, love to see her again! Her and Linda Ronstadt were huge, still are!

My fatherinlaw passed away and my wife thought this song should be played on the day of his funeral in church. After that she listened a thousands times to this song, with tears in her eyes. Now my wife passed away recently and at the end of the burialceremony in the church I had arranged to play this song for her! Now I am crying every time when I hear this song! Soooo Good! Soooo Intense! So oo heartfilling! I am greatful to Mark and Emmylou. This song will last forever in my heart!

My God this is beautiful. The way Emmylou hangs on every note in the opening verse, is absolutely haunting. To know now that this was written to capture a phone call on 9/11 from one of the Twin Towers , knowing it was their last words. Close your eyes, and hear every word. For those that do not know Mark wrote the song about the people trapped in the twin towers on the 9/11 attack calling their families!

Just learned a neighbor and good friend of mine suddenly past away yesterday. Much too soon. Talked to him a couple go days ago without knowing it was goodbye. Since his days after leaving Dyer Straits, I have come to really appreciate this man's true appreciation for the guitar. Knopfler's style is truly unique, with his trademark string bending style.
Do you even realize you're performing in front of a live audience Knopler? Looks like you're completely lost in your music, totally absorbed, oblivious to anything happening before you. As a guitarist, that's a true pleasure to watch (and listen to!).

This is an extraordinary song. My dear wife died very recently, but I am consoled by a remark that her sister made. The sister said that my wife was always a happy person, but much happier with me in her life. My own sister said that I seemed much happier with my wife in my life. So, I guess we did well by each other.
A while ago we visited "Ground Zero" and saw the (I haven't the words!) and we were of course, very moved. But what moved me the most, among all the names etched around the site, included the phrase "and her unborn child". No one can justify that!!
