  • In this video we take apart an HP Envy 17t and take a tour of what's inside a laptop. We are replacing the old battery with a new one, upgrading the 128GB NVMe SSD to a 500GB NVMe SSD, removing old thermal paste and applying new one and lastly removing dust from the fan, heat sink and the rest of the components.

    Had the same problem with battery, after 3 years of laptop usage plugged most of the time. I was not able to use my touchpad and right side of the keyboard. I ordered a non original battery, hoping that this will be better then original. Many thanks for your precise and detailed explanation. Cheers!

    I have a pavillion that has dedicated cover of the RAM node to replace if needed and removable battery. Another 17t was nightmare to replace RAM as you needed to take off the keyboard for this. Great vid, keep it up

    Well done. You have gained a new subscriber my dear sir. I did want to ask you were you got your tools as a fellow tinkerer of laptops because I'm looking to upgrade my toolkit of six screw drivers.

      Thanks so much for the support. Unfortunately the store I got this set closed down a couple of years ago but you can try FuserTech

    Greetings, I have the exact same laptop that I just purchased used and I have a couple of issues with it, although the laptop runs great one or the ram ports do not work and I have verified that it is the port and not just bad ram modules, I have cleaned and examined the port and all looks well so I decided to update the Bios with no luck as I am just getting an error message that " This BIOS update is blocked on this device" the current BIOS is F.28 and the Bios that I downloaded from HP driver and support is F.37 Rev.A my laptop model number is HP ENVY - 17-ae165nr and I'm running windows 11, any thoughts?

    Very good narration & explanation of the steps you took. I’m getting a new one of these & I’m a little nervous bout the battery. I’ll prob get the HP factory 3 yr warranty n let them deal with it. However if ur in the USA I’d be happy to let u work on it

      Super happy you found it useful. The warranty is a very good option if you can get it. Unfortunately I am in Zimbabwe so the DIY way was the only feasible solution

    If I remove the battery completely, can I use the laptop by plugging it in?

    Great video!, clear and interesting info about the battery!! Thank you for sharing such a valuable content. ❤
    Btw, my screen died and it was taken off with the Wi-Fi antenas, now I can't connect to the house wi-fi only hotspot from my cell phone. What is the difference and how can I fix it? I won't be able to connect the antenna until I buy a new touch screen 😞.

    Excellent video... I was wondering if it is possible to upgrade this model to 32gb of Ram. One source I looked up indicated it wasn't possible another said it was. What is your opinion?

    • @techzimtv
      @techzimtv  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      32GB is the max RAM you can put on the HP Envy 17t

    Awesome vid, does this model only have a single ssd slot?

    • @techzimtv
      @techzimtv  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This model has one M.2 NVMe SSD slot and one SATA slot. You can mount solid state storage is any as long it is compatible with the either slot

      Mine does not have a CMOS battery

  • @emre.mir.x
    @emre.mir.x 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    you cannot overcharge that type of battery and do nothing about it since it is non-removable this info is not
    correct. batteries might reach that situation due to it's chemical build.
