- Hey everyone and thank you for 21:52 of your time. In this video I restore and upgrade an older ASUS laptop and I have tried something different, connecting eGPU ( external desktop graphic ) to the laptop. With some upgrades and eGPU the performances are incredibly different. It's experimental only but is nice to see how something is game changing.

Tried this one on my mother's laptop, now I'm sleeping in the garage.

His English is very good, however, I do have a few corrections in regards to your English. "A English student" should be "An English student" if its a vowel you use an if it's a Consonant you use a. "mocking on" is incorrect syntax you would just use mocking as it is a transitive verb

This was the exact same laptop I had when I was 15. And I had such good memories playing on it with my best friend. Watching you being able to play GTA V on it almost brought a tear to my eye. 👍

Nice vid Andrew! Although i suggest using a 980 ti since they were both released on the same year and use the same architecture, otherwise its an amazing video and it helped me upgrade my laptop of the same model no.

Old is not mean bad :D many older laptops are far better than new cheap laptops. same is with desktops, my firend has PC with x58 motherboard and i7 xtreme, this is 10 yrs old pc, trough the years he just upgrade the GPU, and today he still play games with 70+ FPS on max
@@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew Lol same! I'm still rocking and rolling a i7-950, Sabertooth X58, 20 GB of RAM, and a GTX 960! Plays almost every game at or around 60 FPS. The old X58 platform still has a bunch of potential!

I think it'll work better if the graphic card has more memory. The bandwidth is still too small compare to full length pci-e. The less the transmission the better it'll work.

What?
Not bad, this was a great test of the eGPU! Personally, I would not use the eGPU on this laptop, since the laptop only has a dual core processor, and also, it means losing the built in Wi-Fi. Yes, an external Wi-Fi adapter can be used (and will probably work faster too), however it reduces portability and increases the chance of the adapter being pulled/snagged in the USB port.
I would also have kept the DVD drive. Back in 2019, SSD prices were high, but nowadays, you can get 960GB Kingston A400 for under £40, which is enough to not even bother with 2.5 HDD anymore.
Wow a K53! A cousin to my K43 which is still running beautifully. This upgrade seemed fun btw! I'd game on lower than 1080p to squeeze out more frames.

Same laptop like mine, but it is 14" model (A43S). I've upgraded it much, such as cpu (pentium b960 to i7-2630qm), ram (2x4gb), hdd (320gb to 1tb). Gonna plan to have 240GB ssd installed here and gtx 960 like yours. Good work btw!

This is really helpful for the case idea!! Because it's more better for cooling system graphic card and video card also the other stuff in there needed case like that, So that idea makes my pc not warm or hot again even though my pc is high spec.

One suggestion I would like to see an upgrading in an old laptop that it was a gamming laptop like an Alienware R3 for example, it got few years now, I will love to see what you can do mate.

Wow, i had no idea you could swap the dvd drive for another hard drive. My mind has been blown and expanded.
All DVD in PC or Laptop are using SATA interface, hence you can swap it with harddrive easily
Im using an aspire e14 e5-475g-30ky, can i swap my dvd drive with an ssd?
@@alistairstark9885 Seems like you can. Just search "DY-tech 2nd Hard Drive HD SSD Caddy Adapter for Acer Aspire E14 E15 E17 ES1-511-C50C ES1-512-P84G E5-411G E5-575G E5-771G" on Amazon or Google. If you buy the part, buy an SSD, and have the tools and some patience, you should be able to make the upgrade.

I didnt even knew I can replace cd-rom with hard disk and wifi card with graphic card. Thanks! its very useful info because I'm upgrading my asus R510L. I think I can't upgrade processor in this model. I already upgraded bios, windows and ram from 4GB to 12GB. Now I want SSD and from the info in your video I will try to upgrade CD rom and and graphics

I have a PC like you too! I buy it on online, the motherboard is 11 years old now. It was i3 2100 before, I turned into i5 2500k and I put a RX 580 on it. It works fine and run many games 40 fps - 50fps.
My close fried have very similar, just he upgraded to i7 last year :D and still use that PC to work. I ask it to buy it, but he still refuse :D btw all is packed in cooler master cosmos case. I love that PC :D

Before you do any upgrade to your pc or laptop check out details on your motherboard because each has limit how high you can go with upgrades like ram or cpu etc. If you go over limit with upgrades on your motherboard you will fry it.

My friend bought laptop like that but with i3 2 gen for about 1.5 us dollars, with no battery, charging cable, keyboard but i works for the most part 😂
A bit late, but in the settings, i think its under time and sleep, It's a setting to chose what its gonna happen with the laptop when the lid is closed. Select "do nothing" or something like that is written and now you can fold your laptop without a problem.
You can take cooling system from version of notebook with video card for less temperature.
I do it on my Acer e5-573.
Take cooling system from Acer e5-573g (where g- is graphics) with two cooling tubes.
i3-4005u working with minus 10 degrees Celsius
