About this game:

So now we have Flinthook, Tumbleseed, Hollow Knight and Dead Cells. Which one will be abandoned? Place your bets.
lemme say it this way: which one will NOT be abandoned? because I think they all will be, sooner or later... :'D
Kelthret Tumbleseed is dead. People weren't enjoying so I dont think Ryan will keep playing it even though he liked it. I think he already said Hollow was going to be sporadic. Id imagine this will be a shorter LP, looks good though so I'm interested.

He talked about this on the Sub stream last night. Tumbleseed is dead, he loves it but people don't like watching it. And he is more than likely stopping Flinthook after he beats it once.
He is really excited about Dead Cells and plans to keep it up.

"I'll upgrade skills to use my shield more" You almost made me take a chunk out of my desk, Egg.
The items in your X and Y slot are effected by strength upgrades while items in your LT and RT are effected by skill upgrades, health upgrades are self explanatory.
you missed a tinted rock
funny thing is.... he kinda did. that wall was tinted red when he hit it. ....and he missed it.
6 minutes in and he missed about 3 wall secrets (local tinted rocks). Jokes aside, games change, NorthernEgg does not.
Is this replacing Bloodborne?

-Runes in walls represent secrets.
-You should always try to unlock all items and all healing potions first, then only work on the damage upgrades.
-Hitting doors with your weapons stuns all enemies in the consequent room close to the door.
-Skill does not make you use your shield more often, it lets you use your skill items more often (bombs, turrets, grinders).
If a plant seed was technically one big cell, there would be a solid joke to make here.

Gonna be honest, tried this out after seeing 11 minutes of this video and I've been playing for the last 5 hours.
Hey Egg don't underestimate the power of skills, damn things carried me through a boss fight.
The visuals are so smooth and pleasing.
I'll say this much, NL. I've been watching your channel for a long time now. Dark Souls 1 was the 1st playthrough i watched you do and i'm glad to call you someone i admire and look up to. That being said, here recently you have been playing several different titles and some i'm not too keen on, but this one. This one is probably something i am going to LOVE watching. i'd like to see the egg taking on cities skylines with all the dlcs.
I would like that, his first Cities Skylines playthrough was a disaster though, hopefully he got better so the series can last more than 10 episodes.
TBH Ryab's imagination and creative skills are pretty piss-poor for tycoon management/build-a-thing games. Especially, keeping in mind an audience looking to be entertained. His planet coaster playthrough was PAINFUL, I couldn't even finish it

Hey NL, health increases health, strength increases your dmg on your main and off hand, skill affects cooldown and dmg of your trigger weapons(bombs, turrets, etc)

This game is incredibly deep. You can equip two of the same weapons, two of the same powerup and in genetal customize your combat as you will. There are some broken and shitty combinations and only 50% of content is in this game so far. world generation is great and it does some very unique things with atructure that I won't spoil. Good stuff. Oh and the music is like Zelda's Goron Valley theme on loop.

I found a few good ones (combos). You can do bleed builds. BLEED BUILDS.
Don't forget that equipment gets random modifiers that lead to some truly STUPID things you can get away with.
Like spawning mobs to eat other mobs from a safe cliff.

Now, this is blowing my mind. I probably first watched NL in like 2013 or 13 or something, playing CK2. But then didn't watch him at all until very recently. Had basically forgotten about him in the mean time. But now watching this... dude he's like a completely different person. How is this the same guy?
No egg, your shield is Might because it's in your weapon slot. Skill is for bombs/flashbangs/etc.

Your "healing" in that damage you do immediately subsequent being struck builds back potential loss.
First game lile this that rewards you for taking hits but staying in the fight.
MAKE THIS PERMANENT SERIES!!!!! fun to watch doesn't get boring and it seems like you are having a hell of a time with Dead Cells as a 3+ year sub take my word this has some potential!!!
How do you know it doesn't get boring? You've seen 22 minutes of game play.

A lot of fun playstyle in this game, mechanics are very polished especially considering it's early access. Pretty difficulty too. Happy to see you playing it! Down+jump when airborne does the ground slam, useful to keep yourself from stunning during long falls and great for stunning the enemy.

The egg continues to please me with the making of this novel series.
Just a note, skills doesn't decrease the shield cooldown, it counts as a weapon. Also you shouldn't replace your melee weapon with an ammo based one, because if you come up against a boss and use all your ammo on him, you won't have a way to attack. Arrows and daggers and stuff you only get back from the enemy when they die.

This game looks beautiful and tons of fun! I look forward to a series hopefully longer than Tumbleseed, Kappa, but for real, great choice to start a series on.
Finally I played a game before Northernlion.
It's so frustrating to watch him look at a very simple and very doable jumping puzzle and say "Nah I can't do that, now let me just *double jump* away from it"

This game looks fucking amazing and the animations are increadible.
Honestly this game does a lot of really interesting things that take the Dark Souls style of approaching combat and challenge them.
For one you can actually sneak attack enemies through doors and get free stun that way. You destroy the door, but if it hits the enemy they get stunned a short while.
There are also challenge rooms and speed running rewards. The biggest allure is that the game does this wonderful job that Dark Souls didn't do all that well at with giving you these carrots placed JUST past a dangerous and oftentimes fatal blockade. There are doors that close off after X amount of time has passed that you cannot get through. There are challenge rooms that task you with completing them under a time limit without any damage and DO NOT refund health if you get hit. There are golden doors and cursed chests, and if you break a golden door or open a cursed chest you are forced to fight without getting hit X number of enemies to lift the curse or die from ANY damage. This includes cheap ass traps and/or enemy spawns.
The key difference is that, unlike Dark Souls, you cannot escape or minimize the risk involved all that much. I mean you can get out of curses pretty easily, but there are still tempting rewards for risky decision making. Which is the really interesting part of this game.
