I prefer the 11-inch because if I need a bigger screen, I have my MBP 16-inch. I only take notes, not draw at all. Size is most important; I am lazy to bring big things outside.

I went from a 12.9" M1 to the 11" M4 and I am happy that I did. I normally use the iPad primarily for drawing/art and the smaller form factor is just easier to hold and move around. For me, the larger one is just too awkward to maneuver around comfortably.

I’m glad I’m not the only one considering downsizing. I use mine for note taking, teams meetings and reading and I ended up buying a Mini as well as the larger iPad was just too cumbersome for moving around the desk as I swapped between tasks, and especially for reading. I think the 11” is just the sweet spot for everything for me, and the OLED panel is the killer feature I didn’t realise I was waiting for!

As someone with a MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, PC, several 3rd party keyboards, and M4 iPad with Magic Keyboard 13 inch, it’s not MUCH better…It’s an expensive keyboard, and it’s really good. Is it the best, no, but there is no suffering with this solution at least from a hardware front. You can debate the software all day long, but it’s really good hardware. However, the 11 in Magic Keyboard is a bit cramped but not bad compared to the 13.

Great video! I had the 12.9" M2 and it always felt heavy and uncomfortable to hold, it would be awkward to have it beside my keyboard and mouse to take handwritten notes etc. I've tried to use the iPad Pro as my primary computer but the experience was extremely frustrating, so now I just want an iPad to be an iPad. I wanna walk around holding it in one hand to watch videos, take notes, read articles etc, and I think the 11" M4 will be a better buy. I just bought a 15 inch MacBook Air to be my primary device and I want the iPad to just be this super portable, fun device to use.

@@redeem5858 Well yes, of course...the specs are better. But it really comes down to what you're using your iPad for. A large majority of people will see no measurable difference between the M1 and M4 iPad Pro. The only thing they might notice is the screen contrast/brightness/blacks, but performance wise, it will perform the same as the M1 for their use case.
Of course if you throw a bunch of benchmarks at it, the M4 is going to come out overwhelmingly on top, but that's not most peoples use case or even close to their normal workload. For instance, if their normal workload only uses 50% of the processing power of the M1 chip, then upgrading to an M4 does almost nothing for them, aside from the physical changes and screen changes mentioned above. Potentially slightly better battery life, but again, that's not going to affect most people.

It's funny that nobody have mentioned this, but my first observation was that finally Apple managed to make the background of the camera area same color as rest of the frame. Now it also comes in aluminium color and not just black. Nothing to do with the iPad performance, but I found the black as a rare design decision (flaw).

If the iPad is your main device or is being used more often the not as a second screen than the 13" is the way to go. For 95% of users who are looking at emails, watching movies, reading books etc...the 11" is the best bang for your buck. The use case scenario that you and many TH-camrs are reviewing this for is for a very small minority of users and is really not representative of how most people will use this device. The 11" complements or is an accessory to your main system such as a Mac studio etc. Its silly to get the 13" and then your other system is just sitting not getting used, especially if its not that old and you spent a lot of money for it. I have an M1 iPad and it sits there and does not get used much. Its too big and heavy to hold for long periods of time.

I went from the 12.9 Pro + Mini to a 11” Pro. For my use case the switch was well worth it, I realized I never actually used my 12.9 for heavy illustration work like I thought I would. Only light sketching and the RARE finished piece, most digital work I did I noticed I would just switch to my Mac & 19” Huion. I figured I’d declutter and properly move and use my iPad as the secondary device I have been between both tablets. For me it was worth it, the smaller and lighter footprint feels so nice

Nope. 13 inch hands down better for media consumption. Better speakers by a long shot and bigger screen. Had the 11 inch m1 and never used it for movies. Sound was awful. Always used my 14’inch m1 MacBook Pro. But, now I watch movies on the 13 inch iPad because the screen gets brighter with better colors. The sound is good, still not as bass as the 14 inch, but they work great.

As someone who uses the 16" M1 Macbook Pro everywhere, I'm considering getting an iPad for a more portable/travel device. I made up my mind on the 13" a while ago, but I'm reconsidering the 11" as everyone says it's the sweet spot. I'm the type of person that would use a 16" laptop on a plane, so the larger size doesn't matter too much to me. Can't see me holding it one handed for all that long, mainly using it on the couch, maybe in bed.
I'll be editing photos, watching videos, internet browsing, creating YT thumbnails and likely only editing videos when travelling (which isn't too often). I could also use the iPad as a secondary screen/reference monitor of my Macbook Pro, but I have a portable USB-C monitor already and I never use it, so unsure if I would connect the iPad much.

My photography bag can only hold the 11 inch, but I do love larger sizes particularly for drawing. I have the 11in and considering upgrading and getting a bigger size. I love large displays and use a 22in drawing tablet at home I also have a surface pro for windows (though definitely prefer ipad for drawing) and the 13 in and weight never bothered me to much. My Ipad 11in pro from 2018 in a case and I can hold in one hand just fine and is of similar weight to the new 13 without the case. Sorry if this muddies the water, but you just have to make the choice yourself. I wouldn't buy based off others opinions. :)

It’s an added cost but if you’re out and about it’s awesome. You can of course tether using hotspot but when travelling I often prefer not to do that to keep battery life. It’s also really nice to just flip open your iPad and use it anywhere straight away. Only you can really answer that though as adding cellular basically get your the next storage tier up on a WiFi iPad in most cases. Owning both an 11 inch and 13 inch I ended up taking the 11 inch out more as I’m the netbook generation and it fits on coffee tablets and trains more (in the UK everything is cramped when you travel 😂)

Excellent comparision at least with respect to hardware features an quality and a suitable visual ending: 13" installed on Keyboard Docking Station and the 11" held in hands. Tells you everything you need to know intuitively.
I'd like to see if you do a video demonstrating use cases and comparing each model; obviously for real art use that may have to go to an artist's channel but many other tasks it's a good way to distinguish the different sizes and their uses.
Eg Lines of code if "coding" in landscape that is at a reasonable font size or number of cells of excel for office work. In both cases it's appreciated that coding is limited on native apps and the MS Office Apps are a little watered-down but nonetheless still worth checking this sort of thing amongst other real world "USABILITY" testing or practical use. They're a little more insightful than synethic tests eg benchmarking and so on even if those are informative considering other hardware.
Again contrasting multi-tasking using Stage-Manager and Split screen are useful too. It would be good to see battery life for running Safari in multiple tabs and running apps to simulate a work day 9-5 (8hrs) and how the battery holds up for extension beyond battery stress testing with highly demanding uses eg streaming or gaming. Another area that eats battery is using the Pencil for writing or drawing is noticeable in "Apps Battery Use" function on the iPad is another area to check. Some info on WiFi or 5G speeds using applications that are over the network/cloud would be good to see along with bluetooth connected devices to see if there's any lag or compatibility issues.
I'm sure many more such micro-practical tests could be conducted.

Call this old fashioned thinking, but the 11 inch is more impressive because apple fits all that hardware and more battery into a smaller form factor. It really can't be any smaller than 11 inch but it can be infinitely bigger. So 11 inch is the superior machine. This was the common sense thinking for 12 inch ibook over 14 inch back in the day, but it was more intuitive to think this way in the past because tech was always trying to get smaller not bigger.
