I remember when in the early 00's cell phones were getting ridiculously small, like fun sized candy bar sized small. Then people realized that there was a limit to how small/thin an item you have to handle to use should be and they started to get bigger. I think we have reached that point with tablets and computers. Making the camera module sit flush would have been a better improvement over thinner IMO.
i dont know why i havent liked this video when i first saw it from the formal relaxing jerry rig style choice of words for the narration to the sharing of information for tech, metals, glass and so on... This channel and its host is one of a kind.
i belive they are because now, we can see yes it bend when you bend it but that means like random backpack bend or whatever is just fine, but new we also saw vertical bend is not that fine meaning dont but like a changer brick on the middle of you bag againt the ipad, for example ipad on sa sleeve and the sleeve has a puch for the chager and you put that in and it is facing your back for example and you throw the bag. i mean it is really specific but now we do see it will break and that is important to know.
@@AndresUffert2 but since the horizontal distance is smaller there is less probability of something bend that way, i think its acceptable, not great, but ok better than i expected for sure
Isn't it the only reason why it cracked is because they were "smart" and put the charging port in the dead middle of it? Like if they put it somewhere near a corner, would you still be able to bend it like that?
I mean, it is incredibly strong for how thin it is. Zach is a very strong guy and full force intentional bending mostly held up. Vertical bends are going to be VERY rare, and bends of this force will also be very rare.
I don’t get why they cling to impossible thinness as a selling factor, seeing that what most of us do next thing is search for a fat ass military grade crush-proof case just to have these things not break just because. As I was going to split hairs by a millimeter or two 😅
Honestly, at that point it’s just a guess, but realistically you’d usually be correct in saying something that size isn’t flat. I’d be stunned if it was. I remember with the original 2018 redesign people were suggesting the bend was intentional to make it lay flat on a table, but I don’t believe that at all. Even as good as Apple’s tolerances are, perfect flatness just isn’t important enough here to worry about. I do wish they’d focused more on total rigidity. The improvement to lengthwise bends is nice, but I’d have traded a little extra thickness (and another brace across the width) for a bit of improved strength. And maybe that could have given them room for a bigger battery too. I do realize the reduced weight is also a feature, though, so it’s hard to say what would be better. Regardless, I’m quite happy with my 12.9” M2 model so no need to upgrade. We’ll see if any iterative improvements this generation end up changing my mind… 🤣
The taptic engine in the pen is what makes it feel so good to use. Idk if SDM is making special parts just for apple on their linear 2 axis vibrators but it feels amazing.
@@Just_a_random_birb Maybe. The Airpods and Pencil are exceptions where only the charging hardware has USB. And Garmin GPS watches have a proprietary tiny waterproof port and a USB charging cable. I'm no expert but I can imagine Apple being fine if they ship the tablet/phone together with a magsafe charger that itself has USB. Though I think before that happens they'll squeeze whatever they can out of the USB port even if it means making the case itself part of the port walls.
A lot of people and artists are concerned about the durability of the nano texture on the iPad.. I hope you'll do a review on that soon jerry. I'm very curious if it scratches easily, and how it performs for being wiped clean, or when you wipe across it with dirt on the cloth.
I found this useful because I was actually interested in buying one and wondered about how durable it was. Thank you Jerry for they review. It convinced me that I could depend on it holding up unless I was not careful about sitting on it. Filtering on useful comments is still a challenge for me.
absoultely grab one if you're comfortable with it, i was worried about the bending issue but if it's gonna take that much force vertically to bend it, im happy with the durability
lol…get a UAG case for it if you aren’t gunna buy the keyboard. I always use one. Just got the 13 as upgrade. Def fantastic. UAG cases are the best for peeps who don’t use the apple keyboard or prefer a wireless one. How does spilling ice cream hurt your soul when you know he's gonna bend the thing anyway ?
@@phoebecara4361 I was prepared for one, but not other
That's what made me laugh the most, him spilling icecream everywhere and then frantically trying to wipe it off without mentioning it at all was just hilarious
better than dat ipad crush ad
I remember when in the early 00's cell phones were getting ridiculously small, like fun sized candy bar sized small. Then people realized that there was a limit to how small/thin an item you have to handle to use should be and they started to get bigger. I think we have reached that point with tablets and computers. Making the camera module sit flush would have been a better improvement over thinner IMO.
i dont know why i havent liked this video when i first saw it
from the formal relaxing jerry rig style choice of words for the narration
to the sharing of information for tech, metals, glass and so on...
This channel and its host is one of a kind.
Entire Apple event all I could think of was Jerry, bending it into oblivion😂

wow the bend test is really impressive. you can even flatten it or curve it depending on your preference!
Not me getting an iPad Pro ad before this
That held up incredibly well! I think these videos are really necessary!
i belive they are because now, we can see yes it bend when you bend it but that means like random backpack bend or whatever is just fine, but new we also saw vertical bend is not that fine meaning dont but like a changer brick on the middle of you bag againt the ipad, for example ipad on sa sleeve and the sleeve has a puch for the chager and you put that in and it is facing your back for example and you throw the bag.
i mean it is really specific but now we do see it will break and that is important to know.
@@AndresUffert2 but since the horizontal distance is smaller there is less probability of something bend that way, i think its acceptable, not great, but ok better than i expected for sure

To be fair you’ve never bent any of the previous iPad pros vertically like this one.
9:20 I really thought the iPad will finally survive a bend test, and then Zack bended it vertically 😂😂😂
Really shows how apple only thought about protecting it from horizontal bends, but they overlooked vertical bends
@@Zvxers7 They over looked Jerry bending it... it's not going to bend vertically like that in a backpack, just think about it.
@@gage6651 it's definitely going to bend like that in a backpack, a single pen in the backpack can bend it over time
Not to mention the s9 ultra which is 14.6 jnches withstood the bend test like a beast. @@Zvxers7
Isn't it the only reason why it cracked is because they were "smart" and put the charging port in the dead middle of it?
Like if they put it somewhere near a corner, would you still be able to bend it like that?

With that outrageous hydraulic press ad of iPad, crushing all of humanity's creativity, I surprisingly enjoyed it when he ripped the screen apart😅
When Apple said it was their thinnest product, 100% of my mind went to this guy putting an end to their hype...
From the looks of things, it held up great
I mean, it is incredibly strong for how thin it is. Zach is a very strong guy and full force intentional bending mostly held up. Vertical bends are going to be VERY rare, and bends of this force will also be very rare.
How does the salt taste?
I don’t get why they cling to impossible thinness as a selling factor, seeing that what most of us do next thing is search for a fat ass military grade crush-proof case just to have these things not break just because. As I was going to split hairs by a millimeter or two 😅
Are we not gonna talk about how he detected a 0.1 unit error in the flatness just be holding it. 😭😭 Thats BEYOND impressive
The most awaited video since the announcement of this new iPad Pro. I mean, what could go wrong by making them even thinner?
😂😂😂
Yeah apple sucks
Thin is thin, and thin bends

@@gastontwo Unlees you're samsung. the S9 is 0.3mm thicker and survived.
The taptic engine in the pen is what makes it feel so good to use. Idk if SDM is making special parts just for apple on their linear 2 axis vibrators but it feels amazing.
I'm calling it now. It won't be long before Apple removes the charging port to "improve durability and allow for more internal space for hardware".
Hi Adam. Any new videos this week? Fan from Zambia!
Will EU even allow that?
Don't give them ideas
I blame Jerry for that idea. Now Apple is going force us to charge their devices wireless only. Damn you JerryRigsEverything

That" 0.1 right out of box "just killed me lol
This
I found this useful because I was actually interested in buying one and wondered about how durable it was.
But you may have to order them coz they sold out pretty quick..my last UAG case lasted longer that the iPad 6 years. Charging port went in it so good excuse to upgrade. Loving it.
Every time you bend and scratch something, my heart skips a beat, but my eyes are so focused.
Especially hearing each and every scratch. Without headphones, thankfully.
I swear, I watch tons of JRE videos, but I always have to skip the parts he scratches the sides of the phones and tablets with his x-acto-knife. I don't know why it gives me terrible chills.
