Looks like the most exciting feature of iPadOS 18 is the calculator.

I absolutely despise apple with every fiber of my soul, but if I were still in college I'd probably buy one for that, if it's as good as it looks which I'm sure it isn't, and someone else will probably have a better one in a year if it's not already out and I just haven't heard of it.

10% less FPS for roughly 30% less power draw sounds like a quick and dirty undervolt.
100% they just factory undervolted and thus dodged billions in environmental damage fines through greenwashing
Because that's what it is - just not all static but with a little dynamization added to it. I can't imagine them redoing the whole v/f curve on a per card basis.
Would it be good at finding the most efficient voltage level for the conditions (running temps and silicon)?
@@rya3190 Depending on the circumstances it probably has the chance to be right more often than you testing every single game you play and changing the V/F curve all the time. But then, the UV I did on my 2080Ti reduced power draw by 30% without performance loss, the one on my 3080Ti reduced powerdraw by 30% with 15% performance gain and on my old 1060 6GB it reduced the power draw by 50% and I lost around 10% performance. Sure, depending on the card 30% less powerdraw at 10% performance loss may be all you can get, but I've seen better numbers online.
Half the episode is about Apple, and not ONE DAMN TIM COOK IMPRESSION. It made me cry😢
Well done Riley, you used the word 'rubber' correctly.
Just to clarify the biscuit Vs cookie situation, here is an explanation I prepared earlier:
The word biscuit comes from the Latin word 'bis' and 'coctus' which means 'twice baked' (biscotti in modern Italian). They are baked and then dried in a slow oven to help preserve them and that makes them hard. A biscuit has a snap or a crunch, and can be sweet or savoury.
The word cookie comes from the Dutch word 'koekje' which means 'little cake.' Cookies are moist and soft like cakes, and are usually sweet.
The word cracker comes from the Dutch 'kracken,' they are thin, flat and hard and so 'crack' when bent, so their name is probably onomatopoeic (as in, they're named after the sound they make). They are usually savoury, and often eaten with other foods such as cheese and chutneys.
In the UK we usually know the difference between all these foods, and we use the words to distinguish what we mean. However we do sometimes call crackers 'biscuits' as they are really a subset of biscuits.
In the US, they call both biscuits and cookies 'cookies,' and only distinguish crackers as something different. However, they do have some things such as 'snickerdoodles' that we would simply call 'cookies.'
American 'biscuits' evolved from 'hardtack' or 'ship's biscuits' which were baked up to four times to make them hard and durable for long sea voyages. They were too hard to eat, and so had to have a drink or a sauce to soften them up before eating - such as a gravy. Over time Americans started adding fat and a raising agent, changing the food significantly to something resembling a scone or a dumpling but keeping the name ‘biscuit’ despite it no longer being twice-baked and hard.
To the UK mind this is like taking a pizza and swapping the bread for breaded chicken but still calling it pizza rather than chicken parmigiana. American biscuits may not be scones, but they’re not biscuits either. You've obviously made a new dish, just give it a new name.
To summarise: in the UK generally biscuits are hard and sweet, cookies are soft and sweet, crackers crack and are savoury, which is why they are used for cheese.
Crackers are essentially a savoury biscuit however, and so in the UK we would usually say 'cheese and biscuits' for the dish, rather than 'cheese and crackers'. If you said 'cheese biscuit,' or 'biscuits for cheese' here, nobody would bat an eyelid.
On a related note, we also have Christmas crackers, which are decorated cardboard tubes with a small explosive 'snap' in the middle that makes a 'crack' sound when you pull it apart.
Christmas crackers are therefore also onomatopoeic, but that is the only relation they have to the food with the same name

Should we be as mad about siri looking at everything on screen and using that information as we were with the windows recall thing? I feel like should be at least a little mad.
Recall happens passively, regularly taking screenshots of what you’re doing. Siri only looks at the screen when you invoke it and ask about something on the screen, like summarising something or editing a photo.
Except they lied. Both iOS and windows will be full video recording. MS is under investigation for this right now.
@@ChippTheFox What are your sources for those claims? Particularly with iOS, since it has only just been released in beta to developers.
It’s not even just gonna look at everything in the screen. It’s gonna pull information from your emails, text messages and contact information too. It’s crazy.
one of the bigger issues with recall as far as i’m aware is that is dumps the video files with plain text into an unencrypted folder (when signed in) for anyone to snag if they gain access to your machine via social engineering or malware etc. including passwords fields and sensitive data. siri just uses your screen for context when invoked, and doesn’t store this as a video that can be looked at after the fact. i’m sure it’s more complicated than that? but that’s what i’ve gathered.

Q. What is the full form of AI ?
A. Apple intelligence
funny how apple gets praise for their AI while everyone else that has been doing the same thing for months now is always criticized
They haven’t been doing the same thing wut?
The criticism is there, it’s just buried by all the pro Apple stuff
@@hastyscorpion all the AI features they "created" already exist on other platforms.
I'll criticize apple as much as the next guy, but I'm supposed to be upset they took their time with a solid product line rather than wasting time with the 'windows copilot' technique?
I don't get comments like this. There is 1000% more apple criticism than there ever is "pro apple" stuff. Just look at the comments on this very video. Android users are SO offended that apple exists, all the time, everywhere. They will consume 10x more apple content than Apple users just to complain about Apple in the comments.
You've all managed to gaslight yourself into thinking that there's some "apple brigade" coming to take your Android phones away when most Apple users don't give a fuck about the "phone wars" and just... use their phones.
4:39: I used to abuse the hidden "Subject" field (which can be enabled in Messages settings) to get bold text in iMessages - the only problems are that it obviously can't be used for inline bold text, and you have to enter _something_ in the message field (a single space or period works but looks awkward) or else the subject will be sent as a standard message, meaning it won't be bold.
FFXV was released on PC in 2018, and is originally from 2016 on consoles. Not quite sure why it's still being used as a major benchmark.
So they just introduced stuff almost all other companies already have by now, and boast about it? that's crazy.
generally, Apple's shtick is that they introduce things that already exist, but seek to implement those things more seamlessly/with better design than anyone else.
It's worked in the past, with the iPhone and Apple Silicon. We'll see how it goes here
Their implementation sounds better than anything I’ve seen before. IMO it’s a good mix and promises to be a good ecosystem for developers
@@waytoobiased that's not it.
it's just that no one is as good as them at making ads.
Their claimed improvements are seamless only in the ads, as can be seen from various "in depth" reviews.
But if you are considering stuff like not having a back gesture "seamless", then yeah it's seamless.
As for base design, that's subjective, and not something to use for basis of comparison.
@@evozeus oh, their marketing is definitely a huge part of it, and they definitely miss sometimes (again, we'll have to see how this goes in that department).
But if you compare products like the original Macintosh, the iMac, the iBook, Mac OS X, the iPod, and the iPhone to what was going on at the time in their respective markets, no one else had gotten the formula down the way they had.
Just about all smartphones today use many of the UI innovations of the original iPhone as fundamental parts of their experiences, and that's because the design WORKED.
@@waytoobiased They had great innovations back in the day, not anymore. Now they're only taking up used ideas and refining them as they see fit. Even then i think they refine one or two aspects of it and leave the rest. Only those few aspects are showcased in the ads.
Lock screen for example, its shown to have great face id, and somehow they're able to convince everyone that it is peak; yet nobody will mention the lack of a fingerprint sensor.
Now people are excited about home screen customization. They added a few necessary features but nothing beyond that. It's like nova launcher from many years back, with a modern aesthetic.
Now the common notion around this would be ios has a great design and less features, and android more features with bad design.
The truth however is that android has both design and features. No they did not bring the design in the best way possible. That has been done many years ago by google in their pixel phones.
So apple doesn't have the best designs, and doesn't have the best functionality. What are we praising it for then? Appears to me only people praising such features are those who don't bother to check out other phones.
Does that mean Siri will finally be useful?
Not unless you have an iPhone 15 Pro or Max.
