Currently own the M1 iPad Pro 11”. Will wait for the next generation. Please apple, give us what we really want. Give us better battery life. All I do is game on mines, and I would love better battery life. I’m hoping the M5 Chip focuses on more battery life and it’s ok Apple, you can make the iPad thicker if it means better battery life. I know I said battery life a lot, but all I want is better battery life on a Pro Model.
Just upgraded from my iPad Air 2 (I know right) to the iPad Air M2 13 inch 😅 wifi only. (Wifi is in most places 😊) I wanted the M4 because of the Tandem OLED screen but not much difference in everything else to justify the price difference.
Simple questions: for just social media, youtube videos watching, using email and a few regular apps, no games, no drawing… am I better off with a 2021 or 2022 Ipad Pro 12.9 inch or the new 2024 Ipad Air 13 inch ? Since I need a big screen, now having a 10.5 inch Ipad Pro from 2017. I have 54 GB storage used off the 64 GB in that 2017 model, so best choose the 128 GB version or the 256 GB version for my future Ipad ? What could be the downside in my situation by buying the 2024 Air ?
I’m upgrading from my old 5th Gen iPad (2017). Any suggestions whether I pick the Air or Pro? I’m just the average user and don’t expect to upgrade that often.
Replying also with the 2nd generation iPad Pro 12,9" 512GB, which I might replace now, since the battery is tired. But I also use the M1 iPad Air 256GB, which makes this choice of portables much harder. I don't want to retire a 2-year-old 2nd generation pencil. I wish it could at least talk with the new iPads. :/
@Kyle Erickson loved your video…had to subscribe after the iPad comparisons. I had the new iPad Air M2 for about 4 weeks and had a lot of issues with it. The battery depleted quickly, the pencil would not charge, and even the screen would not respond to touch. I was so surprised with all of these problems. Have you heard of any one else having the issues, or do you think that might be a one-off. I was leery of getting a replacement.
Ya'll must have forgot but the iPad Air is meant to be lighter in weight than the standard iPad. For example, the iPad Air (2024) is lighter than the iPad 10th gen. The ipad Pro lineup came way later...
Before I watch your video. I spent 30 minutes in the store comparing the two iPads to decide which one I would buy. I ended up buying the M4 pro and only to regret buying it once I got home. It does not work with the previous generation Magic Keyboard. Now I have to return to the store a day later to exchange it for the Air. Yes the OLED is amazing and the pro motion is silky smooth when scrolling. But for $500 difference, I’ll sacrifice OLED and pro motion to get the 13” M2 Air. I own a MacBook so I don’t need the power of M4.
@@nishantvidyarthi5667oh that cool how many gigabytes did you get. I’m still figuring that out and what size did you get I’m planing on using it for studies also.
@@hahahayi1017 I didn’t bother researching the compatibility I saw 13” for both models. I didn’t think Apple would make the Pro model a few mm bigger than the Air from width to length.
Great comparison video. I have the 12.9 pro from 2018 and I can’t justify buying a new iPad, it’s still such an overpowered machine compared to the OS. The new pro looks incredible tho.
That is why these so-called "overpowered" Pro iPads are so good. You can still get a fantastic experience from a 2018 version, and if you check out 2018 Android tablets, then I doubt they would hold up as well. So, I praise Apple for the overkill M4 chip, as anyone lucky enough to afford one of these will know that they have a long-term investment that will even feel contemporary in 2030. If money is no object, then the new iPad Pro is easily the best tablet in most metrics as long as you understand it is and will always be a tabletOS. If that is not your cup of tea, then it is probably best to buy a desktop-OS laptop, as tablets are not for you as your only device.
Yes, I tried to hold out but started watching too many iPad Pro m4 videos and fell off the wagon. I had the m1 pro 2022 so now I have the m4 pro finally a I pad I can watch without having to wear glasses to use .
I have the 3rd Gen iPad Pro and it’s still rocking. Plus I have 512 gigs! Having so many photos, documents, movies, and etc. I still have over 250 gigs available. I for now, see no reason to upgrade but as someone mentioned before, the new version looks good. I do have to admit that I love the idea that the camera was finally moved, which is great for my FaceTime and Zoom meetings.
I loved the 11inch in store but needed 13 inch for music sheet replacement. I thought I was going to hate it but it’s actually not that bad.. it might be better with 13” now even just with browsing or YouTubing. 11” doesn’t give much room for dual screen and sometimes you just need a lighter model with 1 screen, pad-like not a MacBook…. So they serve their own purposes. I still like doing editing on my Mac but if I can transition to iPad only then that’s something to think about in the future.
So go with the pro. FaceID is much better than finger print, the screen is just… sickly good looking, and the speakers are far far far better. Trust me, if you can at all swing it then go with the pro.
It is really stupid IMHO that the iPad Air M2 has deliberately downgraded speakers. Otherwise the 13” would be a great device to use primarily for watching streaming video.
For gaming, I suggest RE4, LoL:Wild Rift, Pokemon Unite, Minecraft, PubG, CoD:Mobile, Ginosha impact, and Warframe - these games can all run at max settings for a LONG time on iPads with M2 or M4 BUT some of these already run better on M4, and many haven’t been optimized for M4 yet. You for sure can tell the difference from base regular iPad vs M4. I use my iPad Pro for EVERYTHING- work, personal, gaming, and so on. I really love my M4 13inch in 1tb, I upgraded from a A12Z 11inch 1tb. I DO wish they gave the same camera set up from my iPhone 15PM, or gave the magic keyboard pass through port for charging on the right side so I can just use ONE wall outlet to charge my iPad, run my flash drive, and charge my iPhone on the Magic Keyboard. Other than that this iPad Pro is AMAZING! I hope WWDC brings some great software to take advantage of all this power, and they bring MORE AAA GAMES (like bulders gate 3?) - as I patiently wait for assassin creed mirage. I know it’s not a MAC, but if you can get by with using what’s available on iPad then for MANY people a iPad is ether a replacement or a ALTERNATIVE to Mac’s! Even the BASE STANDARD iPad is amazing, and more useful than people give it credit for.
For serious media consumption, the iPad Air 6 12.9" is the perfect device, especially now with the 512 GB/1 TB local storage options and WiFi 6E for faster data transfer rates from approved WiFi routers.
Good production quality. Could u do a comparison b/w m2 air with m2 pro? At least on a short. Im currently on base ipad 8 looking to upgrade to one of those.
I’ve been using ipad pro 10.5 for about 6 years. I don’t have a laptop so it’s my main device and I’m using it for about 5 hours a day. Right now I’m considering between ipad pro 11 m4 and ipad air 13. The tandem oled screen looks so amazing but i mainly use ipad for youtube, web browing and read some comics so I think ipad air 13 isn’t a bad choice at all. Ipad pro 10.5 is 120Hz so if I use ipad air 13 with 60Hz, will it be noticeable? Which one do you think I should upgrade?
I currently have iPad Pro 10.5” 2018 and planning on upgrade soon. Which one to buy, iPad Air M2 13” or iPad Pro M4 11”? Considering the price is similar and I still need to buy apple pencil as well. I am using it for media & note taking. For heavy use, I still have MBP M1 16 inch
Hey Kyle, Hope all well. Fantastic videos as usual and just wanted to ask a question I'm sure has been asked numerous times. Looking to upgrade my 6-year-old ipad Air that can no longer update to the latest ios. I use my ipad for everything and generally need good audio and good support for an external monitor. I could buy a new Air 11' for about the same cost as a refurbished Ipad pro 128gb (4th gen)M2. I couid also spend less and get an M1. I always worry about longevity (so updating ios etc) and want to be able to use whatever I get for as long as possible, but can't justify the cost of a latest Pro? Any advice much appreciated. All best Tim
For years I had a third Generation 12.9 Pro. I considered myself a casual user mainly because my primary purpose that I use my iPad is for TH-cam Videos, Banking, and checking my email. I decided when purchasing a new iPad to save 500 dollars and purchased the new Air iPad. However, TH-cam is my primary daily entertainment and I’m on it allot. The new Air IPad sound quality wasn’t as good as my third generation Pro iPad. And the actual viewing area on the Air is smaller. So I return the new IPad Air and upgraded to the M4 13 inch Pro. Yes, I paid an extra 500 dollars but considering how long i go without upgrading my iPad I believe it is worth it. The audio on the M4 Pro is great. I am also looking forward what IOS 18 enhancement that the M4 will fully support. This year I’ve been using Chat GPT a whole lot that IOS 18 will link to Siri.
This was really helpful as I need to start editing shorts for social... wasnt sure what to get and spending crazy money on the pro seems painful! Do you think all the ai features will work on the new air?
You pretty much answered the question I’ve been debating for the last week or so, but just in case: would an iPad Pro with 256gb suffice for video/photo editing if I have somewhere to offload it once I’m done? Depending on the situation it will either be content taken on my iPhone, my Sony camera, or my drone. I’m migrating from editing on my old MacBook Pro that recently called it quits, so I’m lookin for a nice Apple mobile device since I’m so deep in the ecosystem already. I love the form factor and portability of the 11 inch so I’m definitely going with one. Due to pricing here in Canada, I was initially trying to decide between the most basic specs on the Pro or the Air with slightly more storage, but I really think the Pro will make editing more smoother and I like the display since it will also serve as a screen for streaming shows when we are away from our computer desks.
What iPad would you recommend for a college student who does not have an iPad and is strictly going to use for taking notes and watching videos and maybe some games
Get the 11" M2 iPad Air if you have budget constraints and get a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard if you don't have a computer or laptop to type on at home. The beauty of the Air is, it weighs a pound & you don't have to take the keyboard to class to make notes. You will really appreciate the low weight when seeing your classmates lugging 3-5 pound laptops everywhere. Use swipe typing at school & with a little practice; it's very fast ! Of course should you not be limited by budget restrictions then go for the 11" M4 Pro 😃
I don’t have a particular use for the pro, but I decided to buy it because I don’t own a TV, or a computer so it’s basically my one stop shop for everything I do as far as tech goes so I figured I’d get my moneys worth because of that. I am an artist so I also got the Apple Pencil pro. I do need something to run my website with along with various other things of that nature. So far I’m happy with my choice. Also I don’t plan on upgrading until I absolutely have to, so I wanted a device that I would be happy with for years to come.
Great first video. I wonder if there will be any apps for the iPad Pro. Also what about document processing, possibly using Microsoft word and or excel and publisher. Or apps capable of competing with Microsoft word, excel and publisher.
Nice video. I got the iPad Pro m2 12.9 about 3 months ago. I’m not sure if I really notice any blooming. But, I do notice when watching movies sometimes there are at moments, very bright eye flinching brightness. This happens periodically throughout movies, whether real, or animation, Disney, etc. is this the blooming effect ? And if so, does the m4 13’ eliminate it?
People should not be fooled Buying the IPad with the M4 won’t replace a MacBook It’s still a IPad with the IPad operating system Very limited! The IPAD Air is the best deal and the chip is very good IPads used to read EMAILS and watch TH-cam videos don’t need a expensive M4 chip
This is so true, especially when you consider the RAM-it's surprisingly low given the high price. The 16GB RAM option for the iPad Pro M4 is much more expensive compared to the MacBook Air, which is much cheaper.
I got the Air cos honestly I have a paper like screen protector on it and the display doesn’t matter for me. I write notes, review documents, watch videos. It’s kinda like the Pro is not for me, and for a $600 difference in my country.
Unless you really don't want a laptop the Pro Series doesn't seem worth it. You could get a base iPad air + base macbook air for the price of a full spec Ipad Pro
All jokes aside, awesome video. Thank you for your insight. I think I’ll be going for the Air as a first time tablet user who has always favoured laptops.
Hi Kyle, something no one seems to talk too. I hold onto tech for as long as it works without too much compromise. I'm still using a Ipad Air 2 but its now definitely showing its limitations. Given I don't turn tech over every couple of years and future proofing is important for me, Air or Pro???? Many Thanks
I can't predict the future, but the one thing you have going for you if you're looking at these is the release cycle for iPads seems to be around 1.5-2 years, so given that, you'll at least be on the current model for a while, and then you're probably 2-3 generations away from maybe starting to think about the need to upgrade, but all of that is more of a personal choice
I’ve been waiting for this video from you as you do such a great job in your comparisons. Great illustration of the difference in the microphones, but I was bummed you didn’t include the speaker comparison. I’ll just have to hold tight on my 2016 iPad Pro until I see your full review video with the speaker comparison! Thanks for another great video, you are the benchmark for me!
What’s the big deal? Buy what you like. If you want the pro get it. If you don’t want it, don’t buy it. I don’t decide on buying an Ipad based on if I need all the features or not, I but it because I like it.
I have iPad Pro 11 ( 2018 ) is it worth to upgrade to iPad Air m2 ? I do use davinci resolve, photoshop , Lightroom, pro create. Does air work fine with those apps ? Also is there any screen quality between pro 2018 and air m2 ? Thank you
my wife has the M2 ipad air while I still have my 2018 ipad pro, to be honest, I don’t see a significant performance boost for my use case (mainly media consumption and email/office/teams), what does hurt is losing face id and pro motion, I would only upgrade to the M4 pro if I had the money to burn, or maybe when the air gets pro motion

I have the 2020 ipad pro. I am a teacher, I used it for my lessons everyday for at least 10 hours and I love it!
The OLED is so tempting but at $999? Tough pill (tablet) to swallow.
😂
😂
I did a trade-in, that helped
Just got the new iPad Pro 11” and truly love this device
I am a graphic designer and I'm confused about these two. Which one should I buy ?
I mean the OLED display makes it worth it by itself. The Air doesn't even get miniLED.
It's crazy that they removed the ProRes accelerator just for this iPad only.
The M2 iPad Pro and MacBook Air both have ProRes support.
I’m upgrading from my old 5th Gen iPad (2017). Any suggestions whether I pick the Air or Pro? I’m just the average user and don’t expect to upgrade that often.
The “air” now refers to wallet feel. Debatably.
I’m still using my 12.9 inch second generation in fact I’m using it right now and I am still very happy with it
Replying also with the 2nd generation iPad Pro 12,9" 512GB, which I might replace now, since the battery is tired. But I also use the M1 iPad Air 256GB, which makes this choice of portables much harder. I don't want to retire a 2-year-old 2nd generation pencil. I wish it could at least talk with the new iPads. :/
Where do u get those wallpapers man?
What stand are you using? Looks awesome!
Normal Ipad and Air is fine for 95% of normal people who consume media. The Pro's are for people who want the best and create media. Pretty simple.
This is the same I tell people. :)
I need the best
11" Pro or 13" Pro? Does 2 " really make a huge difference?
Before I watch your video. I spent 30 minutes in the store comparing the two iPads to decide which one I would buy. I ended up buying the M4 pro and only to regret buying it once I got home. It does not work with the previous generation Magic Keyboard. Now I have to return to the store a day later to exchange it for the Air.
Yes the OLED is amazing and the pro motion is silky smooth when scrolling. But for $500 difference, I’ll sacrifice OLED and pro motion to get the 13” M2 Air. I own a MacBook so I don’t need the power of M4.
Me too…I just got the iPad Air M2 as my first iPad it is amazing…..especially for studies😂
@@nishantvidyarthi5667oh that cool how many gigabytes did you get. I’m still figuring that out and what size did you get I’m planing on using it for studies also.
Same I also have a MacBook Air so I don’t need the pro.
You went to the store… before even doing the minimal research that would tell you that the M4 pro uses the new Magic Keyboard…
Probably not but for what Apple will give you to trade it in I’m getting $410 for my 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” worth upgrading now
@@rthilsonthat's about what they are going for. I sell 3rd party a LOT. Those 5th Gen 12.9 sell roughly around $500 so that's not bad at all.
Trust me, if you can at all swing it then go with the pro.
would you recommend buying 2022 11inch pro with m2 or new air?
2022 inch pro
If my 7+ years old iPad Pro dies or becomes unusable in the next 2-3 years, I’ll consider getting this year’s (2024) M4 iPad Pro.
In my country ipad pro m2 is more expensive than air m2(2024), which one you reccomend? Im student
Imo for students the air is sufficient
I have a m2 iPad Pro. Didn’t know they already have m4. Is there big improvement?
For serious media consumption, the iPad Air 6 12.9" is the perfect device, especially now with the 512 GB/1 TB local storage options and WiFi 6E for faster data transfer rates from approved WiFi routers.
Good production quality. Could u do a comparison b/w m2 air with m2 pro? At least on a short. Im currently on base ipad 8 looking to upgrade to one of those.
Can you also compare the M2 Pro and M2 Air?
I'll try to get into that a little more in the Air review!
Many complaints about heating issues in AIR ..... is it true ???
how long will the apple pencil (USB-C) last at full charge?
I’ve been using ipad pro 10.5 for about 6 years. I don’t have a laptop so it’s my main device and I’m using it for about 5 hours a day. Right now I’m considering between ipad pro 11 m4 and ipad air 13. The tandem oled screen looks so amazing but i mainly use ipad for youtube, web browing and read some comics so I think ipad air 13 isn’t a bad choice at all. Ipad pro 10.5 is 120Hz so if I use ipad air 13 with 60Hz, will it be noticeable? Which one do you think I should upgrade?
60hz is insanely noticeable. That was one of the main selling points in the pro for me
I currently have iPad Pro 10.5” 2018 and planning on upgrade soon. Which one to buy, iPad Air M2 13” or iPad Pro M4 11”? Considering the price is similar and I still need to buy apple pencil as well. I am using it for media & note taking. For heavy use, I still have MBP M1 16 inch
Literally using the 12.9" iPad Pro from 2018 and it still works like new! Feel like apple refurbished is the way to go
Hey Kyle, Hope all well.
I’m curious how the next iPad OS and ai may cause a greater separation between the Air and the Pro. I’m waiting until 6/10.
For studying , until the next 4 to 6 years what should I get as a device ? Pc ? Or an iPad ? And which iPad ? My devil is telling me the Pro 13”.
Hi , i wanna buy a nice one just to use procreate and ram is important to me so do you recommend air or pro???
And i am a jewelry designer
I already knew that I only needed the air but just wanted to make sure lol
The wallpapers were awesome!
They just look fantastic!
Is it possible to download these?
This was really helpful as I need to start editing shorts for social... wasnt sure what to get and spending crazy money on the pro seems painful! Do you think all the ai features will work on the new air?
Great Wallpaper. Was wondering where could i get them from?
It’s not that the M2 can do anything the M4 does. It’s what features will miss the M2 because “only the M4 has the computational power to do it”
You pretty much answered the question I’ve been debating for the last week or so, but just in case: would an iPad Pro with 256gb suffice for video/photo editing if I have somewhere to offload it once I’m done? Depending on the situation it will either be content taken on my iPhone, my Sony camera, or my drone. I’m migrating from editing on my old MacBook Pro that recently called it quits, so I’m lookin for a nice Apple mobile device since I’m so deep in the ecosystem already. I love the form factor and portability of the 11 inch so I’m definitely going with one.
Due to pricing here in Canada, I was initially trying to decide between the most basic specs on the Pro or the Air with slightly more storage, but I really think the Pro will make editing more smoother and I like the display since it will also serve as a screen for streaming shows when we are away from our computer desks.
iPad Air M2 is powerful enough to quickly edit videos and play some games like Genshin Impact for at least the next 3 years.
What iPad would you recommend for a college student who does not have an iPad and is strictly going to use for taking notes and watching videos and maybe some games
M2
How much difference does it make to use it as separate display to Macbook? I assume with 120 HZ there should be some noticeable difference.
Going from a 5th gen 11pro to the 13 iPad Air and didn’t realize until this video that there’s not a thunderbolt on it. It might have to go back now.
Did they release the 11 inch only ?? Every review on TH-cam is about the 11 inch model ?
Now I’ve been waiting for this comparison. Thanks!
Hi! It's gonna be my first time having an ipad 🥺 ive been saving for years and m2 ipad pro 11 inch is enough for me.
Hello, how about the differences between the new 13 Air and the one gen old 13" Pro? the old pro looks to have a better M2 chip and TB4
I have the iPad pro m4 2024 13” 1 tig, amazing tablet far better than my 2022 iPad Pro 12.9 m2. Forget the air get the pro
OTHER TH-camRS ARE TALKING ABOUT THE GRAIN PROBLEM WITH THE OLED DISPLAY ON M4 pro
After previous OLED burn in issues I went with the air
I want the pro because I'm a sucker for OLED and 120hz
I know the air , hell even the new mini would be just fine.
I got the Air cos honestly I have a paper like screen protector on it and the display doesn’t matter for me. I write notes, review documents, watch videos. It’s kinda like the Pro is not for me, and for a $600 difference in my country.
which is the best for not taking with the pencil? and is it a good as something like the reMarkable 2.0?
Unless you really don't want a laptop the Pro Series doesn't seem worth it. You could get a base iPad air + base macbook air for the price of a full spec Ipad Pro
Very helpful. I liked that he said best if the best even though you don’t have an in-depth use for it yet . Just ordered 1
ipad pro m4 is my 1st ipad, and im a an artist. i find sketching in my ipad faster and organize than my pc haha!
Great vid, an idea of mine is if you can maybe do a video showing how you normally have your iPads set up and settings to change and turn on/off.
I’ll be getting a iPad Air 11 in for school otw 128 Gb any recommendations for accessories
I can’t decide between the two… urgh. My main user case is to use the iPad as a clock next to my bed. Any advice?
Im dying to find out where you get these wallpapers
I make them for these videos
@@KyleEricksonthey look amazing, good job. Are they done by hand or a certain AI?
I’ve been waiting for this video from you as you do such a great job in your comparisons. Great illustration of the difference in the microphones, but I was bummed you didn’t include the speaker comparison. I’ll just have to hold tight on my 2016 iPad Pro until I see your full review video with the speaker comparison! Thanks for another great video, you are the benchmark for me!
They need to just have 3 models: mini, air, Pro.
The editing is flawless, keep it up!
